STAMMER TIME IN TAMPA
Posted on 3 Dec 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Crosby or Ovechkin? Alex or Sidney? The great debate in the NHL just got a hell of a lot harder because you have to add one more name to that list…..Steven Stamkos. The 20 year old “veteran” of the Tampa Bay Lightning has been lights out all season. Tied for the league lead in goals with 21 so far, and second in the NHL in points, Stamkos is showing all the tools and p...

Sudden Death Sabres
Posted on 16 Nov 2010 by George Kouvalis.
What more can you say about the Buffalo Sabres right now. The Sabres have been to extra time in the past five games and have finally won a game on home ice after going winless at the HSBC Arena in their first seven contests. The reason for all this is a couple of factors. First off Jhonas Enroth. Enroth came into the starters role after All World Goalie Ryan Miller went down with an injur...

World Series Wrap Up: A Giant Win
Posted on 2 Nov 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Much to the chagrin of many purest baseball fans and my self this years edition of the Fall Classic did lack some drama and suspense. Not to take anything away from the San Francisco Giants, they did what they had to do, they won, plain and simple. I have already heard people complaining about this series being the worst one ever and ratings disaster. Too bad. I guess because it wasn't ...

Rangers use long ball to get back into series
Posted on 31 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Admit it, we all know it. Chicks dig the long ball, sorry for the metaphor as I have been trying to use it for a while in a blog. With saying that though it is right to say that the Texas Rangers used the long back to crawl back into the 2010 World Series with a 4-2 win last night in Texas. The Giants now lead the series two games to one. Texas finally got some great pitching from start...

Shifting The Series to Texas
Posted on 30 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Down two games in the World Series and you would think the panic button is about to be hit in Texas for tonight's game three. I don't think it is. One thing that people forget is that a series dosen't start until a home team losses a game. Then it becomes a series. All Texas has to do plain and simple is win out at home this weekend. Just get this series back to San Francisco and see ...

WORLD SERIES PREVIEW and PREDICTION
Posted on 27 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
The 2010 World Series is only hours away and it looks like it should be a great series. The Fall Classic will start at AT&T Park tonight with a great pitching matchup featuring Cliff Lee and Tim Lincecum. I for one cannot wait for this series to get underway, with two underdog teams in the playoffs, both from what has been long considered “weak” west divisions from each Leag...

Some Pre World Series Thoughts
Posted on 25 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
It's Monday afternoon, and all I can think about is baseball. The World Series is upon us and seeing as the majority of baseball fans I know are Yankees and Red Sox fans, they now don't care. The Red Sox fans care until the Yankees are out of the post season and vice versa unless their own teams are in it. For Yankee fans, it all ends when their team is done in the playoffs, simple, Yanke...

Rangers punch ticket to World Series
Posted on 23 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Finally off the “teams that have never appeared in a World Series list” The Texas Rangers made it official on Friday night with another convincing 6-1 win over the New York Yankees to win the ALCS four games to two. The game turned towards the Rangers again in the middle innings with a four run 5th to chase Yankees starter Phil Hughes from the game. Colby Lewis threw a ̶...

ALCS Game 6 Preview
Posted on 22 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Looking ahead to tonight's game and just some thoughts on last game. I think the Yankees were expected to not get eliminated at home during game 5. Their big bats came to life and C.C. Sabathia held the Rangers in check for most of the night. Even with Mark Teixeira out of the lineup the Yankees still fought it out and won. The Yanks didn't seem to panic either during an elimination game....

Rangers Take stranglehold in Series
Posted on 20 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Most people, including myself, would have had this series being 3-1 the other way if you had asked us before the series had started who would be winning. The Texas Rangers used their bats and solid starting pitching, again, to hammer the Yankees 10-3 in game 4 of the ALCS in the Bronx. For the first time since game 1, the Yankees finally had a lead in a game and more importantly did not all...

Lee’s Masterpiece Gives Texas Series Lead
Posted on 19 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Dominance. Probably all that needs to be said about Game 3 of the ALCS in New York. Cliff Lee was just that damn good. Did we mention he is now 7-0 in the post season with an ERA in those games at 1.31. In Game 3, Lee was once again brilliant with the tag line of 8IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB and 13 K's in the Bronx. Winning is one thing, doing it in Broadway style in New York is another....

Sabres off to a poor start
Posted on 18 Oct 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Maybe Lindy Ruff is finally on the hot seat in Buffalo. The Buffalo Sabres have started their 2010-2011 NHL season off and suffice to say it hasn't been a good so far. With a chance to get off to a great start as four of their first six games in the season were at home, the others in Ottawa and Chicago, the Sabres didn't take advantage. The Sabres are off to a 1-4-1, including 0-3-1 at ...
