Bruins reach 50
Posted on 3 Apr 2009 by Jim Mulligan.
For the first time since the 1992/93 season, the Bruins have reached the 50 win plateau with their 2-1 win tonight over the Ottawa Senators. Things didn't start well for the B's as the Sens jumped out to an early lead. Just 5:23 into the game, Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson beat Tim Thomas high on the stick side. The play started with the Sens forecheck forcing a bad pass from the...

With tonights 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators, the Boston Bruins reached the 50 win mark for the first time since the 1992/93 season. Also, they eliminated one more team from catching them and the #1 playoff seed in the east. With the Devils now done, only the Washington Capitals can still mathematically catch the B's. The B's can wrap up the #1 seed in the East with a win on Sat...

A sad day for Ray

Per the Boston Globe… Longtime Bruin, Ray Bourque, lost his father Raymond Sr. to a short bout with lung cancer yesterday. The elder Bourque had battled the disease for 3 months. My thoughts and prayers are with Ray and the entire Bourque family on this very difficult time. Jim

Another Solid Effort

Four of the ten wins came in the last four games so if you look at February 10th through March 19th wh...

Bruins clinch division title
Posted on 23 Mar 2009 by Jim Mulligan.
For the first time in what seems to be ages, the Bruins played a full 60 minutes of hockey tonight. With the hard charging Devils in town, the B's picked a perfect time to get things “right” and came away with a decisive 4-1 win. With the Florida Panthers losing to Columbus last night, the B's clinched a playoff berth. Today's win over the Devils, clinched their firs...

The Wrecking Ball

Thursday night, I didn't have many good things to say about the Bruins. If I remember correctly, I used adjectives like lethargic and uninspired. The third period against Phoenix was their best period of the night but even still, their offense was chaotic and even disorganized. They never really threatened to score against the Yotes. I don't know what coach Julien said before today...

Desert Dogs take bite out of B’s

Depressing. Lethargic. Uninspired. All good words to describe tonight's effort against the Phoenix Coyotes. We're talking about a team that just replaced 25% of it's roster yesterday. About the only good news tonight is Washington also lost tonight to the Maple Leafs. In a night where Mark Recchi and Steve Montador made their debuts in the Black and Gold, the Bruins started out ...
