Sharks shutdown the Bruins
Posted on 6 Feb 2011 by Jim Mulligan.
Outside of Phil Kessel, the ex-Bruin that the fans look forward to seeing the most is Joe Thornton. Including yesterday's 2-0 blanking of the B's, the three times Jumbo Joe has returned to Boston, his Sharks have always come out on the winning end. “It is just a win. Maybe the first time I was here, you wanted to win the first one. But now it is just any other road game, I think....

Bruins host Sharks
Posted on 5 Feb 2011 by Jim Mulligan.
It's not as big as Kesselmania but it's generally exciting when Joe Thornton returns to Boston. The Sharks enter winning 6 of their last 7 and a modest 2 game win streak. Today is the first of a six game road trip for San Jose. Next up the Caps, Blue Jackets, Devils, Panthewrs and Preds. Leading their teams out were Tim Thomas and Antti Neimi so we will look for them to start

Not this time for the Bruins
Posted on 15 Jan 2011 by Jim Mulligan.
The Boston Bruins hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at the TD Garden this afternoon. It was the third time they've played each other and the first here in Boston. Both games in Pittsburgh, it was the Penguins jumping out to big leads only to have the Bruins come back to steal victories from the Pens. With the exception of the result, today was no different. Chris Kunitz's first period goal comb...

Bruins go on the road – No suspension for Lucic
Posted on 26 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
After a less than successful three game homestand, the Claude Julien's Bruins are heading out on the road to tour the Southeast Division. With blizzard like conditions throughout New England today, the B's moved their practice up so they could get out of town before the weather prevented their charter from getting off the ground. The trip starts tomorrow in Sunrise, FL against the Panthers ...

Lackluster effort sinks B’s
Posted on 21 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Over the course of an NHL season, there are going to be nights when a team doesn't ‘show up'. Tonight was certainly one of those nights for the Bruins. The sad thing is, after such a promising start, they have now lost 4 of the last 5 games. It's definitely a slump and it doesn't get any easier on Thursday night when the first place Atlanta Thrashers come to town. Throughout the locker r...

Flyers return to the scene of the crime
Posted on 12 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Close your eyes with me. OK, the leaves are on the trees and the sun is shining. The sun is a warm, almost hot, 68 degrees for Boston. It's playoff hockey and the Bruins are hosting the Flyers in Game 7 of the Conference Quarter Finals. What a night for hockey…a Friday night too. Do you have the picture in your mind? If anyone ever tells you a hockey game needs five or six goals to make ...

Flyers return…Live – Marco Sturm TRADED
Posted on 11 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Flyers return to the scene of the crime last spring. The B's have won their last two here at home. It's Thomas vs. Boucher tonight between the pipes. Starting lineups to follow once they are released Rumours of a Sturm trade have been confirmed in a Bruins press release. BOSTON, MA – Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that Boston has traded forward Marco Sturm to the L...

Marco Sturm – Still not traded
Posted on 3 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
It looks like the ongoing saga of the Bruins, Kings and Marco Sturm has been put to rest…for the time being. In the five years he's been here, Marco has been happy as a Bruin but he does have an expiring contract with a no trade clause. He would make a good short term player for a team willing to ‘go the extra mile' for a Cup. He's got grit, decent speed (prior to the last knee inj...

Savvy Returns and the B’s Explode…Oh and Marco Sturm too
Posted on 3 Dec 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
After missing the first twenty three games Marc Savard returned to center a line with Tyler Seguin and Michael Ryder on his wings and oh boy did the Bruins find their offense. Seven different goal scorers (Krejci scored twice) helped two Lightning goaltenders get their necks sunburned from all the red lights shining behind them. The first period was a close, chippy period. Shawn Thornton was ve...

Bolts at Bruins…LIVE

It will be Thomas (again) vs Mike Smith in net…Definitely ride that horse right now. Marc Savard taking warmups as well. Skating looks pretty good and his passing looks good as well. No official word from the Bruins at this point in regards to the Marco Sturm trade to the Kings but off the record I am being told it's going to happen pending a physical. Be sure to look for Matt Preston's t...
