Sandy preachers 2013-2014 but what will be there in 2013-2014 or is he just counting his days down until his contract get’s terminated. As Mets fans are forced to be the laughing stock of New York and most of the league what do we have hope for? Really what do we have to look forward to Wheeler, Mejia, Familia and Harvey. Ok let’s get this straight your hoping for two starters and two bullpen pitchers. There is no bat coming through the system anytime soon.

And as for the pitchers let’s be honest if Wheeler or Harvey don’t work then where have you really gotten. Mejia can’t throw strikes and Familia is right behind him in that area. I don’t worry about wheeler many pitchers struggle when first promoted from AA to AAA. Harvey has gone 6 or more only twice in 6 starts strike out numbers are good but increases his pitch total and teams foul off a lot of pitches against him. Still I believe that pitching will not be the Mets problem. Look at this list and notice how bad this system is dying for bats. http://nextlevelsportsnetwork.com/?p=5846

It is the hitting that will drag the Mets down, to many inconsistent hitters. No pure lead off hitter and if I have to listen to Hernandez, Darling or that dope Cohen try to convince people he is good I’m going to puke. Wright for the benefit of himself and the team needs to be traded to bring in some consistent young talent. Murphy has got to go and I would look into a package of Davis and Murphy for Trumbo and a pitching prospect. Valdespin needs to go as well and don’t get me started on Torres.

Sandy I don’t blame you, it is the Wilpons and Minaya no money to spend and nothing special to trade to get anything in return. Let’s be honest though it isn’t working and no big pieces will be added to this team to help Wright it’s time to move on from him. I know for a fact that Texas would love to have him as well as S.F that way can play meatloaf at first. Gary Brown would be an amazing start to a package. S.F is also rich in catchers in their system. Andrew Suzac to just throw out a name.

It’s time to stop holding Wright hostage, besides you can sign him when his contract runs out at the end of next year. I actually feel bad for the guy having to go through this every year. And we all know wright would not say a word that is just Wright class to the end. The angels themselves would love Wright trade him and the fans should understand why. Besides you have no true number 1 pitcher no real second baseman no real outfielder. Or you can spend some money and bring in Montero and Bourn. And let the kids progress in the bullpen and starting rotation.

Bourn gives you your lead off hitter and Montero gives you a good defensive catcher with pop. As Mets fans I think we all know the spending money part isn’t happening. So while it was nice of Bud to try and save the Mets next year with the All- Star game all that means is you’ll sell out for two days and the Wilpons can make their money. The negatives Mets fans will get to see the talent that their owners robbed them of ever having the chance to get on the free agent market. Here’s a look at Montero’s stats for this year. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/montemi01.shtml

Alderson and Collins are running out of time…it’s nice to see the kid pitchers up and see what they can do. Unfortunately Jason Bay is still here, why oh why ? He has a contract left I get it but he is taking up a roster space for maybe a younger more productive player to shine. I mean me waking up and stretching is more productive then what he is doing! They always say there is nothing like going home .

I would of called up the pirates general manager…told him I want to give you bay maybe it will revitalize him I’ll eat 75 percent of this ungodly contract and give me a 3rd tier prospect for him or the mysterious player to be named later…Mr Valdespin deserves to play more than he has Mets fan…he can run…hit and just adds energy to the team. When Santana comes back you have him dickey..Harvey, Niese and wheeler getting you through.

Bring up a couple of fresh new arms for the bullpen, you need to stay competitive in August and stay close so when the call ups in September comes rolling around.. Then you have your options. Don’t let a good first half of the season be ruined by another second half swoon.you have the talent to do it . Don’t let contracts and futile players stand in your way. Those 2 wild card positions are there for the taking., and if Collins can make it there without hardly any moves he should be considered manager of the year with what he has to work with.

So Mets fans if Collins isn’t giving up, if the New York Mets play hard and show they care..then let’s see the support for this team by not only when they are winning but playing good solid baseball. Remember the motto….You Gotta Believe…make the new York Mets believe too

All because I have to be doesn’t mean M LB thinks that way. The New York Yankees are the perfect example. The Yankees have been protected for years from the early 90′s to the present day. From the pitching staff getting all the calls to all other pitching staffs. To a certain pitcher throwing a bat at another player and didn’t get suspended. To a bunch of Yankees admitting to steroids and getting a pass. What is it that M LB continues to give this organization a pass. http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/story?id=100250&page=1#.UBtPvvZlTPw

Many people say it is because they admitted to using steroids which is why they got off so easy. Are you kidding me, they were caught and that’s why they admitted to it. None of these ball players were going to come clean. Andy Pettitte and Jason Giambi walked away with no suspension clean as a whistle. And there’s Roger Clemens, Alex Rodriguez and Chuck Knoblauch let’s play connection.

Pitchers- Roger Clemens- 1998 and 2000 with Jose Canseco

Andy Pettitte- Take your pick, Clemens, Knoblauch, Sheffield, A-rod and Giambi

Chuck Knoblauch- Again choose any Yankees steroid case except for A-rod

Jose Canseco- 2000 Yankees

Jason Giambi- Every Yankees player mentioned even Canseco and McGwire in Oakland.

Okay we all know Alex Rodriguez came later, but there is a tie to each and every one of these guys. All wrong for what they did, yet others get crushed for it and Yankees players get a pass. I need this explained to me, the only answer I ever get is Pettitte is a well liked guy. And that means what it means baseball, the media and Selig himself are morons. You cheat the game you cheat the game. There’s no getting past that which the New York media is trying to. http://abigail.wrytestuff.com/swa280268.htm

The same media that bashed McGwire, Bonds and Sosa for doing steroids. Okay they did steroids they cheated their not Hall of Famers. Neither is Clemens and Pettitte being nice don’t get you past cheating the game. No matter how bad the New York media wants it to. The debate ends with this, Did Andy Pettitte take steroids? Yes he did! enough said and I don’t believe a cheater when they say that was the first time and it was for health purposes. Not when his off season buddy is Roger Clemens. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3156305

It’s like A-rod saying that he only did it for a year. And the biggest joke of all this is. Where were the suspensions. Where was the New York media who jumped at the chance to bashed all outsiders. The toughest media in the world, the media capital of the world my well you know. This still stuns me today how the only player the media ever went after was Plaxico Burress. And I have to agree with Frank Fransisco the Yankees are the only team I see cry every at bat but never get a player thrown out.

And yet instead of the media looking into that they make it all about Fransisco. Look as far back as Paul O’Neil very good player but you couldn’t call a strike on him without him crying. The worst part is Nick Swisher is the same way, really Nick Swisher who the heck is he. Mr 210 for the White Sox all of a sudden to becomes a Yankee and he can hit. Ever wonder why that is? try watching the strike zone shrink while the Yankees are up. To end this all I’ll say is M LB is just pathetic and so most importantly is Bud Selig.

It is time to stop shopping bargain basement for Sandy Alderson. It’s time for the Mets to make a move for a real big time player. No more 2013-2014, start building now show David Wright there’s a reason to stay. And get this straight I’m not talk about no relief pitcher. I’m talking about a big time bat or even a center fielder. A real lead off man that moves Tejada into the 2 hole which suits him much better.

If Sandy stands pat or trades for more garbage that will show you where the Mets are headed for years to come. You can not hope that every prospect you bring up in 2013-2014 will work. That’s not possible and the Mets would be completely insane to believe that. To ask 50% of them to work is crazy, just look at the Pirates and Royals. Each team compounded many #1 picks. And neither have made the playoffs over the last 10 years. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/mets-rumors-broxton-bullpen-deadline-plan.html

They do have some nice players due to those picks. More have failed than have succeeded. Tell me the Mets don’t have the Giants where they want them. With both Huff and Belt going down they need someone who could play first. Lucas Duda he also gives them a power bat which they need. And when either Belt or Huff come back Duda could be moved to the outfield. Add Dickey to the deal as well as a Nuienhuis or a Murphy. Bring in 2 critical parts to a ball club in a center fielder/ leadoff man with pop and speed in Gary Brown. And an average hitting catcher with pop in Thomas Joseph. http://www.blazingfastball.com/san-francisco-giants-top-10-prospects-of-2012/

A reliever could also be added in the deal. It makes the Giants better in 3 area’s as well as the Mets. That still leaves the Mets with Scott Hairston. Which I’m positive you could trade for a reliever. So you get younger and help your bullpen. And the young players are talented not just to get younger. Losing Dickey would hurt and there is no doubt about it, but if you can improve your team in 3 different area’s you can’t pass that up. Let this be the last year you tell your fans. Wait till 2013-2014, your improving every area that your looking to improve.

It also cleans out some salary so you can add the pieces you need next year. Maybe a pitcher such as B. McCarthy from Oakland who will be a free agent or a D. Haren from the Angels. The prospects the Mets would be bringing in would have this team contending in 2013-2014. Next year you’ll have a healthy Santana coming back from pitching a full year after not pitching for two years. Neise another year under his belt, Harvey will be truly ready, Gee and the possibility of bringing in a Marcum or a Grienke with the other two McCarthy or Haren as possibilities. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/6191/brandon-mccarthy

And also be able to add some more bullpen help. Do nothing Sandy and lose your team and the fans. Any fool can see this team is not good enough and 1 piece isn’t getting it done. If your looking towards 2013-2014 it’s time to add prospects and build for 2013-2014. Joseph and Brown are these stepping stones to add to Harvey, Nimmo, Wheeler and Familia. Then add Wright and Davis to the mix with Valdespin at 2B and your looking good. You would need one more power bat in the outfield but that can be found in FA. Especially after losing Bay’s and Santana’s contracts.

The game was well pitched by both starting pitchers but 3 ER’s gave the Nationals all they would need to pull this game out. The Mets offense was as invisible as ever. While Strasburg was as good as ever. Going 7 while only allowing 4 hits and 1 run with 11 strike outs.

The Mets got 6 innings from Jeremy Hefner. Giving up 6 hits 3 runs with only 2 earned while striking out 7 and giving up 2 HR’s. Tim Byrdak followed up with 0.2 of an inning allow 1 hit, 2 ER’s and a walk with a HR. The story of this game is once again the bullpen and the offense.

The bullpen again giving up more runs just killed this team. You could see it on the players faces once Byrdak gave up the 2 run bomb to LaRoche. While the offense could muster up 4 hits. With Strasburg pitching the bullpen has to hold down the fort. As usual they didn’t and as usual the Mets lose. http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20120725/SPORTS/120729830

M. Morse opened the scoring in the top half of the second with a solo homerun to right. D. Espinosa then followed with a soko shot deep to right. Ike Davis then broke the ice for the Mets in the bottom half of the inning by hitting a solo shot to right. In the top of the 4th Josh Thole’s throwing error allowed D Espinosa to score.

In the top of the 7th Tim Byrdak relieved Hefner only to pitch 0.2 of an inning and give up a bomb to right to Adam LaRoche. Which made the score 5-1 Nationals. In the bottom of the 8th Josh Thole scored on a Jordany Valdespin sacrifice ground out to the pitcher. Which made the score 5-2 Nationals. http://newyork.sbnation.com/new-york-mets/2012/7/25/3186749/nationals-mets-final-score-2012-steven-strasburg-nl-east-standings-jeremy-hefner-adam-laroche

The Mets could not get anything more from there as the bats stayed quiet. As Tyler Clippard came in and closed the door. The final score 5-2 Nationals. This game wasn’t even close at anytime even when they Mets trailed by two. The magic is gone the fans never at any point felt the Mets had a chance. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8199845

WP) Steven Strasburg LP) Jeremy Hefner SV) Tyler Clippard.

Nationals- 7 H’s, 2 2B’s, 3 HR’s.

2B’s- B. Harper ( 16 ), D. Espinosa ( 26 )

HR’s- A. LaRoche ( 18 ), M. Morse ( 7 ) and D. Espinosa ( 9 ).

RBI- A. LaRoche 2 ( 59 ), M. Morse ( 26 ) and D. Espinosa ( 32 ).

Mets- 4 H’s, 1 2B, 1 HR

2B’s- J. Thole ( 10)

HR’s- I. Davis- ( 16 )

RBI’s- I. Davis ( 56 ) and J. Valdespin ( 22 )

A side note from today I talked to some fans before, durinf and after the game and they are not happy. Some calling the Mets transactions stupid, others saying this team couldn’t compete in minors. And others calling for the heads of Alderson and Collins.

These fans love their team, and pay good money to see them. Your losing them Mets their going to truly start getting upset and angry fans aren’t good for business. And they are right whoever thought this team could hold up for a full season is nuts. You had the chance to keep this team contending but you did nothing.

A quote from a fan ” They won’t fool me again if they come back with the same garbage next year i’m done ” Another quote from a different fan ” This is disgusting, all because your waiting for 2013-2014 doesn’t mean you can’t pick up a really good player this year and one next year. It could only help us in 2013-2014 but it shows us the fans that your not giving up until then. that you want to win not hope to win”.

It doesn’t have to be all in now Sandy Alderson but you could start building the stairs that leads to that house you talked about in 2013-2014. And keep leaving Wright with no protection, keep losing and it doesn’t matter how classy he is or how much he loves the fans and New York. He is a competitor, he is human we all want to win

You will lose him if you don’t start winning!

5) Jose Reyes- For a man to have only of had 2 good seasons he was sure thought of highly by Mets fans and other players. For a lead off man his OBP was average to low at best. And the lack of focus on the field was horrible. He could never stay healthy and was known more for stupid handshakes then for winning. He was non existent in the playoffs as well as the collapses.

4) Marc Stall- Is there someone who gets paid more to do something he doesn’t do. He was drafted to be an offensive defense man and has shown little signs of offense. His defense is above average but he loses position way to often, and can not clear the front of the net. Not to mention how bad the rangers power play has been with him as the quarterback.

3) Derek Jeter- Now don’t get me wrong Jeter is a very good player. Just not as good as the media hypes him to be. He has hit in one of the best lineups in baseball for the last 12 years and have only won2 world series. Take Cano, Tex, Sabathia, Pettitte off that team and the Yankees don’t win. The player with the clutch hits and RBI’s in the 90′s was Bernie Williams and Paul O’neil. Yet all the credit and attention went to Jeter. Jeter is a very good player just not as good as the media has wanted you to believe.

2) Carmelo Anthony- He has only been here a year and a half but could anyone really say their not sick of his act. He doesn’t make anyone around him better, doesn’t understand the concept of team. Chucks up 24-28 shots a night and goes to the line 8 times a game. Two playoff series only one win, points fingers at teammates and get’s coaches fired. All this and the man has never won anything

1) Darrelle Revis- The only cornerback who either holds or commits pass interference on every passing play. If the league called these penalties you would see he is maybe a backup on some teams. I was once told by an NFL player he is the best worst corner in the league. Another player who has never won anything but has held out twice for a new contract. Hopefully the refs will make these calls so you will see what I see.

Next 10- A-Rod, Tim Tebow, Henrik Lundqvist, Martin Brodeur, Ryan Callahan, Brad Richards, Brandon Jacobs, Rex Ryan, Joe Girardi and Johan Santana.

Of course not everyone will agree so give me your top 15. There are many different reasons for my top 15 and if you want to know just ask. Most players and coaches are recent there would be to many players to throw on this list and many players would change slots. Next Sunday I will make a list of most important players to their teams as well as post a list of top 20 pitchers to have ever pitched in New York. Plus post news and trade rumors while we get closer to the trade deadline as well as two post game reports from two Mets games.

I never thought I would say this but it’s time to go fully with youth. This Mets team is not good enough to make the playoffs. To be honest they really aren’t good at all. Remember this team was not built to win but built to be cheaper then last years club. All in part to the Wilpons financial problems.

While this team has been exciting showing us how good they can be but for every good game there is a bad. For every good move collins makes a bad one is sure to follow. To inconsistent offensively and now the pitching is joining them. Could we really expect a pitcher in Johan Santana who hasn’t pitched in two years to stay consistent.

Could you really expect Dickey to pitch as masterful as he did in the first half. Or David Wright to keep up that monster season he was having with no real protection in the order. And there is nothing in the farm that is close to cracking the big league lineup. So what’s the plan for this organization if there is a plan.

Right now all it is, is buy cheap and hope they overachieve. Not much of a plan especially when your drafting high school kids in the first round. All your doing is hurting a very good ballplayer who has been nothing but loyal to this team. David Wright is nothing but class and deserves to be treated like it. David Wright deserves a win now team not all you need is a dollar and a dream.

So here is my plan, there are maybe 6 players on this club with any value. My trade offers would be

1) R.A Dickey, Daniel Murphy and Scott Hairston to S.F for Gary Brown and Tommy Joseph.Add a center fielder great speed, developing power high average hitter. Joseph a catcher with power and improving defense.

2) David Wright and Bobby Parnell to Texas Rangers for Jurickson Profar ss , Mike Ott 3B and Leonys Martin OF. All Three offer power, average and are above average fielders. May have to add another piece maybe a Tejada or Duda.

3) Nuienhuis , Familia and Santana with 8 million to TB for Sheilds, Upton and a prospect. I know Tampa doesn’t take on salary but with the loss of Uptons and Shields contracts plus the 8 million they’ll have a year of Santana’s contract to pay.

After all This is said and done you go out on the field with. 1B Ike Davis, 2B Justin Turner, SS Jurickson Profar, 3B Mike Ott, C Tommy Joseph, Cf B.J Upton, LF Gary Brown and Rf LeyoniS Martin. Any scouting director will tell you that you got a real good team brewing there.

Most of all it leaves you a lot of money to add David Wright back. As well as a Combo of Hamels and Zach Greinke. Or Hamels and Marcum or Greinke and Marcum. Take your pick you can throw Brandon McCarthy in the mix as well, don’t forget relievers like John Danks, J.P Howell, Jon Axford and Brandon League. All possabilities for a horrible bullpen that clearly needs an upgrade.
