Leafs fall to Buffalo. Next up: Canadiens
Posted on 1 Dec 2009 by Mike Crupi.
Another huge shot output was not enough to catapult the Leafs into the win category against the Sabres. It seems as though a barrage of shots on net is not the answer for the Leafs scoring woes this season. For the 10th straight games, the Leafs put up 30+ shots last night only to be shut out by Ryan Miller who is currently the best goalie in the National Hockey League. Miller made some rid...

Kessel Our Savior?
Posted on 2 Nov 2009 by Mike Crupi.
What will Kessel's debut in Blue and White bring to the club? The Leafs are hopeful that by Tuesday night they will be able to pencil 36 goal scorer Phil Kessel into the lineup. Recovering from off-season shoulder surgery, Phil Kessel will most likely be cleared to suit up against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the ACC where the Leafs are winless this season. The question is how much of a...

The NHL season finally starts tonight with the league's two most historic franchises facing off. Tonight the speculation will end to some extent. Both the Canadiens and Leafs have undergone some serious changes this off-season and both feel confident stepping into this first game of the year. Toronto has undergone an infusion on defense with the additions of Komisarek and Beauchemin (both...

Well, it is official, according to TSN and straight from the mouth of the GM himself, the Leafs have completed a trade to send a first and second round pick in 2010 and a first in 2011 for winger Phil Kessel from the Boston Bruins. Quickly after making the trade, TSN reports that Kessel also signed a 5 year $27 million extension. Kessel will be unable to play until at least November due to a r...

Posted on 7 Sep 2009 by Mike Crupi.
Will the Leafs bring in the help of Phil Kessel this season? Promising signs from the first game of the rookie tournament in Kitchener. The speculation has hit the ceiling recently as Toronto made a move to re-acquire their second round pick from Chicago in 2010 for a second and third round pick in 2011. At face value this trade does not seem to mean much but when you take note of the fact tha...

Preseason: Colts vs Vikings + Thoughts
Posted on 17 Aug 2009 by Mike Crupi.
A very brief look at what was an uneventful first pre-season game against the Vikings. The NFL preseason is off to a roaring start. An exception to this rule apparently was the preseason game between the Colts and the Vikings which was somewhat of a snoozer at 13-3 for Minnesota. Lucas Oil Stadium did not get a fitting opening as the Colts’ offence was virtually non-existant throughout t...

Thursday Thoughts

Issues surrounding the Leafs midway through the summer. We are at the mid-point of this hockey off-season and many Leaf fans are making note of the roster, re-arranging it and coming up with line combinations, projected stats and doing all sorts of stuff to try and keep the boredom to a minimum. As well as projected line-ups, there are a few other questions that will continue to pop-up through...

Leafs and Flames Make a Deal
Posted on 28 Jul 2009 by Mike Crupi.
A look at the deal that has Anton Stralman packing his bags and stampedin' to Calgary. The trade is as follows: To Toronto: F Wayne Primeau, 2011 2nd Round pick To Calgary: D Anton Stralman, F Colin Stuart, 7th Round pick in 2012. Drafted in the 7th round in 2005, many Leaf fans will be disappointed to see Stralman go as there was much anticipation on what kind of defenseman he co...

Pondering the Future
Posted on 23 Jul 2009 by Mike Crupi.
What does the immediate and distant future hold for a Colts team that has been near the top for so long? In the sports world, it is sometimes very easy to get comfortable in the way we view a team. We have a pre-conceived notion of teams and perhaps those are some of the reasons why every year the ‘prognosticators’ will usually pick the same two finalists of their respe...

Colts Draft Recap
Posted on 28 Apr 2009 by Mike Crupi.
Quick look at the Colts selections from the first two days of the NFL draft. The draft for the Colts started off with somewhat of a surprise in the first round but rounded off with many of the Colts needs being addressed with the 7 picks that followed. At first I was surprised with the selection of RB Donald Brown from UConn; however, the pick did make a lot of sense upon further...

Colts Draft Preview
Posted on 25 Apr 2009 by Mike Crupi.
A quick look at the Colts draft outlook, the positions that need to be filled and my choice for the Colts first round pick. In pro sports we see it time and time again: How do you build a consistently great team? The answer continues to be without a doubt: Drafting properly!! The NFL is possibly the only sport that you can find a great player in any round of the draft. With so many...
