This six game road trip could not have ended sooner for the Giants.

The Colorado Rockies (24-20) managed to win their first series over the San Francisco Giants (24-20) in two years with a 5-0 win yesterday. The Rockies take the series 3-1 as the Giants wrap up a six game road trip with only one win to show for it.

Rockies starter Juan Nicasio, who had given up 4 runs in his last start vs. the Giants, pitched 6 shutout innings on route to the win. Nicasio (W, 4-1) only allowed 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 Giants’ batters.

Meanwhile, the Rockies lineup managed 11 hits and 5 earned runs off of Barry Zito (L, 3-3).

Carlos Gonzalez was responsible for hitting in two of those runs during his 2-3 performance. Gonzalez hit an RBI single in the 1st scoring in Eric Young Jr. to make 1-0. Then in the 5th, he would double in Dexter Fowler all the way from 1st base to make it 2-0. Jordan Pancheco would single in Gonzalez from 2nd later in that inning to make it 3-0.

Then in 6th inning, the Rockies managed to get two men on base with 2 outs forcing Zito to leave the game. Giants Reliever Jose Mijares would end up walking Carlos Gonzalez to load them up. Mijares was then left on the mound to pitch to Troy Tulowitzki who hit a 2-run single to left center to make it a five run ballgame.

The Giants did commit an error after the 5th run scored for the Rockies with a throwing error by SS Brandon Crawford. That marks the 9th error committed by the Giants in this four game series in Colorado, 13th on this six game road trip.

The Giants offense was almost non existent. Only 5 hits total in the game with 2 apiece coming from Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco. Crawford actually went 7-16 in the series with 5 RBI’s.

San Francisco’s best chance to get back in this game was in the 6th inning when it was still 3-0. The Giants had two runners in scoring position with 2 outs and Nicasio managed to get Brandon Belt to strike out swinging.

Game 1 of this series was the only thing to go right for San Francisco on this road trip and even that looked like a loss early on. The Giants were down 6-0 after 3 innings but managed to come back to win 8-6 after a 5 run 4th and a 3 run 6th inning. Angel Pagan hit the go ahead runs in 6th with a 2-run single to score in Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford.

The 2nd game had the Rockies and Giants combining for 19 runs and 26 hits as Colorado won 10-9. Four errors committed by the Giants let the Rockies keep it close until Jordan Pancheco hit a grand slam in the 5th to give the Colorado a 4-run lead.

After a solo home run by Carlos Gonzalez in the 6th, the Giants managed 4 runs in the 7th and 8th innings but failed to produce in the 9th as Colorado closer Rafael Betancourt came out for his 10th save of the season striking out the side in order.

The Giants were blown out in game three 10-2 as Tim Lincecum (L, 3-3) gave up 7 runs (6 earned) in 5 innings of works. Lincecum also committed a throwing error in the 3rd which aided the Rockies in getting their 3rd run of the inning.

Tyler Chatwood (W, 2-0) of the Rockies went 5 2/3 innings allowing just 1 run on 7 hits and 4 walks. Giants’ hitters went 2-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 men on base.

All in all, it was poor fielding and bad pitching that plagued the Giants on the road. During this 6 game road trip, San Francisco’s starting rotation had an ERA of 9.82. That pushes the Giants rotation ERA to 4.87 on the season, 23rd in the majors.

“We’re going to have our off days and we’re going to be bad,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said after yesterday’s loss. “It’s a temporary thing. You don’t have the success we’ve had and not be good, these pitchers. Have to remind themselves how good they are.”

The Giants starters better remember quickly as they now start a six game home stand today with the first three games against the Washington Nationals (23-21). San Francisco’s probables are Ryan Vogelsong (1-4), Matt Cain (3-2), and Madison Bumgarner (4-2). Washington’s probables are Zach Duke (0-0), Stephen Strasburg (2-5), and Gio Gonzalez (3-2).

Poor fielding was theme early again for the San Francisco Giants (23-17) as a couple of errors helped fuel a 5-run first inning for the Toronto Blue Jays (17-24). The Jays would then tack on 5 more runs over the following 2 innings making 10-1 by the end of the 3rd. The Blue Jays would go onto win by a final of 11-3.

Last night’s game started off the game on a positive note for the Giants with a sac fly RBI by Pablo Sandoval to make it 1-0 in the 1st.

It was the bottom of the inning that everything went South for San Francisco. With 1 out, Ryan Vogelsong got Jose Bautista to pop out to 2nd only to have Marco Scutaro drop the ball inexplicably. Then after Vogelsong walked Edwin Encarnacion, J.P. Arencibia hit a liner right to Angel Pagan who missed it. The ball went behind him as 2 runs scored and Arencibia went to 2nd base.

Next batter was Adam Lind who hit a 2-run home run to right to make it 4-1 for the Jays. That was actually Toronto’s first hit of the ballgame.

Vogelsong would allow one more run to score later in the inning with Emilio Bonifacio hitting an RBI single to center. Finally, Munenori Kawasaki would line out into a double play ending the 5-run 1st for the Jays.

Ryan Vogelsong’s trouble continued in the 2nd inning, however. Former Giant Melky Cabrera doubled to lead off the inning followed by Jose Bautista singling to center to score him in from 2nd. A couple batters latter, Arencibia hit a 2-run home run to left to make it a 7 run ball game.

Vogelsong (L, 1-4) would finish the 2nd and leave after that allowing 8 runs (3 earned), 6 hits, and 2 walks. The 35 year old starter’s ERA gets raised to 8.06 in 2013.

Giants reliever Chad Gaudin would come into the game in the 3rd and walked two in a row after getting a line out to start the inning. Then a Bautista double and a sac fly by Encarnacion would plate 2 runs before Arencibia grounded out to 2nd to end the inning.

Gaudin went 3 1/3 innings before allowing another run to score in the 6th when Colby Rasmus hit an RBI double to right to make it 11-1 for the Blue Jays. Jose Mijares would relieve Gaudin to get a couple of strikeouts to end the side.

The large lead played well for Toronto’s starter Ramon Ortiz (W, 1-1) who went 7 innings allowing one run, 6 hits, and one walk.

The Giants were able to get a couple runs back off of reliever Mickey Storey. They scored in the 8th with an RBI double by Buster Posey and then a sac fly by pinch hitter Brett Pill to score in Joaquin Arias from 3rd.

Storey stayed in for the 9th inning as well allowing a couple of hits to Brandon Crawford and Marco Scutaro before getting Arias to strikeout swinging to end the ballgame.

Hitting was not the issue for the Giants in Toronto: it was pitching and fielding. The Jays got out to an early 6 run lead in the 1st inning of game 1 on Tuesday night. The Giants committed two costly errors including a throwing error by Sandoval to start the 1st inning off.

Pitching was not a commodity for the Giants as Barry Zito (3-2) allowed 8 runs over his 5 2/3 innings, 5 of which were earned, as the Jays won by a total of 10-6.

Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (3-5) prevented the Giants from rallying for most of the night allowing just 2 earned in 6 innings of work. San Francisco would score 1 in the 8th on an RBI double by Brandon Belt and then 3 more in the 9th with a 3-run home run by Sandoval. The Giants, however, were still 4 runs shy when Guillermo Quiroz flied out to right for the final out of the game.

The Giants leave Canada for Colorado to face the Rockies (21-19) in a four game series. San Francisco’s probables are Matt Cain (2-2), Madison Bumgarner (4-1), Tim Lincecum (3-2), and Barry Zito (3-2). Colorado’s probables are Jhoulys Chacin (3-2), Jorge De La Rosa (4-3), Juan Nicasio (3-1), and Jeff Francis (2-3).

On Sunday, it looked like Tim Lincecum of old.

The erratic Lincecum managed to pitch 7 shutout innings as the San Francisco Giants (23-15) got a 5-1 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves (21-16). The Giants take three of four from the Braves and end their 10 game home stand with 7 wins.

Lincecum (W, 3-2) managed to strand runners in scoring position in the 1st and 3rd innings. In the 1st with a runner at 2nd and 1 out, he would strike out Justin Upton and then get Freddie Freeman to line out to Hunter Pence in right field. Then in the 3rd inning with a runner on third and 2 outs, Timmy would walk Brian McCann and then get Justin Upton to fly out to right to end the inning.

Lincecum would strike out 7 while allowing just 2 hits and 3 walks.

As for the offense behind Timmy, it started with a couple of home runs. Brandon Belt hit a solo shot off Braves starter Kris Medlen in the 2nd inning, his 4th home run of the year, to get the Giants on the board. It was Belt’s only hit in three at bats.

Then in the 3rd, Pablo Sandoval hit a solo home run into McCovey Cove. It was Pablo’s 6th home run of the year and his 7th career home run that went into the water outside of AT&T.

Giants would get a third run off of Medlen in the 4th inning. Brandon Crawford managed to single in Brandon Belt from 2nd base. Crawford did well against Atlanta going 7-14 in this four game series.

The Giants had a two-run 5th starting with Marco Scutaro hitting his first home run of the year to left to make it 4-0. Scutaro went 8-17 in this series.

Later in the inning, Gregor Blanco would hit in Hunter Pence from 2nd on a ground rule double to right center for San Francisco’s final run of the game. Brandon Belt would’ve scored from first on that play if the ball had not bounced into the stands.

Medlen (L, 1-5) would come out in the middle of the 6th inning allowing 5 runs with 3 of them earned. His 2nd to last batter had Scutaro hitting a deep fly to the wall left field where Justin Upton couldn’t make a play on it because a fan had interfered trying to catch the ball. After review, the umpires ruled a ground rule double supposedly because Upton and his glove ran against the wall making it questionable whether he would’ve caught it. The Giants, however, would fail to get in Scutaro.

Jeremy Affeldt came in to start the 8th relieving Tim Lincecum. Affeldt allowed 1 hit while getting two outs before George Kontos came in and finished off the 8th getting Justin Upton to fly out to Crawford at short.

Giants lefty Javy Lopez then started off the 9th getting Freddie Freeman to ground out to third before coming out to let Sergio Romo close out the game. Romo did get the final two outs but not before walking Dan Uggla and allowing Evan Gattis to score him in on a double to left center.

Most of the series went San Francisco’s way except for game 1. Atlanta rocked Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong (1-3) in the 5th inning of that game with 4 runs. The Braves would win by a final of 6-3.

Game 2 showed a quick turnaround for the Giants. The Giants scored 6 runs in the 4th inning and tacked on 2 more in the 6th to win by a final of 8-2. Matt Cain (2-2) went 8 innings allowing 2 earned runs to get his 2nd win of the year.

And Saturday’s Game 3 had the Giants blowing a 2-1 game wide open with a 4-run 5th inning. San Francisco would add 4 more in the 8th and win by a final of 10-1. Madison Bumgarner (4-1) allowed 1 run while striking out 11.

The Giants take a day off for travel as they head to Toronto to take on the Blue Jays (15-24) in a two game series starting Tuesday night. San Francisco’s probables are Barry Zito (3-1) and Ryan Vogelsong (1-3). Toronto’s probables are reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey (2-5) and Brandon Morrow (1-2).

Despite a blown save in the 9th inning by Sergio Romo, the Giants would survive and manage to win in extras.

It would be Andres Torres coming through in the bottom of the 10th with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Torres whacked a single to right field off of Antonio Bastardo of the Phillies to score in Buster Posey from third for a 4-3 walk off win. The San Francisco Giants (20-14) manage to avoid getting swept at home by Philadelphia (16-19).

Torres had come into the game on a double switch in the 8th inning.

The Giants had a 3-1 lead entering the 9th in which all three runs were scored off of Jonathan Pettibone during his 5 2/3 innings. Hunter Pence hit a solo shot in the 2nd for his 7th home run of the year. Marco Scutaro singled to center in the 5th to score in Gregor Blanco. Scutaro was 3-5 on the day. Then in the 6th, Barry Zito singled to right field to score in Brandon Belt for the Giants’ third run.

On the mound, Zito pitched 7 plus allowing one run and four hits while striking out three. Zito would be pulled in the 8th inning after allowing a lead off single by Carlos Ruiz and would get a no decision.

Santiago Casilla came in to relieve Zito for the next two batters getting a strikeout and then a grounder for a fielder’s choice at 2nd. The lefty Jeremy Affeldt then came in to face left handed batter Domonic Brown in which Brown grounded the ball right back to him for an easy third out.

The 2-run lead, however, could not be protected by Giants closer Sergio Romo. Things were rocky from the start when Jimmy Rollins hit a lead off double to deep right.

Romo managed to get Kevin Frandsen to foul out to right but that allowed Rollins to move up to third base. Frandsen had managed to hit his first home run of 2013 to left in the 4th inning which was the only run for the Phillies heading into the 9th.

After Frandsen, Romo walked Michael Young to put runners on the corners with one out. Then Chase Utley hit a single to center allowing Rollins to score and Michael Young to get to third while Utley advanced to 2nd on the throw.

The Phillies then tied the game when Delmon Young hit a sac fly to right allowing Michael Young to score from third. Carlos Ruiz then flied out to center to end the top of the 9th with a tie game. It was Sergio Romo’s 2nd blown save of the year.

After the Giants failed to get in Marco Scutaro from 2nd in the bottom of the 9th, the game went to the 10th where their luck would improve. Buster Posey came in to pinch hit for Brandon Belt who was 0-2 on the day. Posey would hit a lead off single off of Antonio Bastardo to lead off the side.

Joaquin Arias then pinched hit for the pitcher’s spot who ended up sac bunting Posey over to 2nd base. Posey would then reached third on a wild pitch by Bastardo and Brandon Crawford managed to get on 1st with a walk. Guillermo Quiroz, who was the starting catcher for the game, then struck out leaving it up to Andres Torres who would single in Posey for the walk off.

The win would go to Javier Lopez (1-0) who pitched the top of the 10th allowing just 1 hit.

If not for this walk off win, the Giants would’ve been swept at AT&T Park by the Phillies. Philadelphia took game one 6-2 as Madison Bumgarner (3-1) had his first rough start and loss of the season. Bumgarner allowed 5 earned runs in 6 innings of work. Meanwhile, Cliff Lee (3-2) allowed just 2 earned in 8 innings as he picked up his third win of the year.

The Phillies now head for Arizona as the Giants stay at home for a four game series with the Atlanta Braves (20-13). Atlanta’s probables are Julio Teheran (1-0), Tim Hudson (4-1), Paul Maholm (4-3), and Kris Medlen (1-4).

The Brooms in the stands were in fact used last night.

The San Francisco Giants (19-12) managed to complete a three game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers (13-17) with a 4-3 win on Cinco de Mayo. The Giants sweep at AT&T marks their 6th win in a row. The Dodgers, meanwhile, have lost 4 in a row as they head back to LA to take on the visiting Diamondbacks.

The Giants were out to a 4-run lead after a 2-run double by Hunter Pence in the 5th inning. Pence actually went 2-4 managing to hit in all 4 runs for the Giants. Hunter hit in Marco Scutaro from third on a fielder’s choice in the 1st inning and then hit an RBI double in the 3rd scoring in Scutaro once again.

Matt Cain (1-2) finally gets credited with his first win of 2013. It was his 7th start of the season. Cain went 7 1/3 innings with allowing one earned run by way of the relievers. Cain struck out 4 while allowing 5 hits and 3 walks.

Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-2) gets the loss with 6 innings of work allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks. Both his losses came against the Giants.

The Dodgers had a 3-run 8th inning rally. With 2 outs, Adrian Gonzalez pinched hit for 3B Luis Cruz and managed to hit a 2-run single up the middle off reliever Jeremy Affeldt. Then Dee Gordon manage to reach 1st on an infield single allowing Juan Uribe from 3rd to score.

Jean Machi then came in as the 4th reliever in the inning for the Giants to face pinch hitter Jerry Hairston Jr. Machi would get Hairston to ground out to shortstop Brandon Crawford to retire the side.

Though it was a productive 8th inning, the theme of the night for the Dodger’s hitters till then was leaving runners in scoring position. They were 0-9 with runners in scoring position entering the 8th. They ended up leaving 9 runners on base in the game.

Sergio Romo then came into the 9th and managed a 1-2-3 fly ball inning for his 12th save of the year. That ties Romo with Jason Grilli of Pittsburgh for the most saves in the Majors.

All three wins for the Giants were of the one run variety with the first two games ending in walk off fashion.

Game 1 had a pitchers duel started by Clayton Kershaw and Barry Zito tied at 1-1 in the 9th inning. Buster Posey then managed to hit a walk off home run off of LA reliever Ronald Belisario to win the game 2-1. It was Posey’s 4th home run of the year as he went 5-10 with 4 RBI’s in the series.

Game 2 was a bit different as the Giants blew a 6-1 lead when the Dodgers managed a 7-run 5th inning off of Ryan Vogelsong and Jean Machi. The Giants managed to tie the game twice in the 6th and 7th innings with the score at 9-9 heading into extras.

Then the last position player off the bench for San Francisco, Guillermo Quiroz, pinched hit for the pitcher to hit a walk off home run to left field in the bottom of the 10th. It was Quiroz’s first home run of the year as the Giants won it 10-9.

Quiroz played in last night’s game 3 as the catcher with Buster Posey at first base. The 31 year old catcher’s walk off magic ran out as Quiroz went 0-4 on Sunday.

An injury of note for the Giants as CF Angle Pagan had to leave in the middle of Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury. He is listed as day to day.

Andres Torres batted for Pagan in the lead off spot on Sunday night going 3-4. Francisco Peguero filled for Pagan in the outfield getting a double on Saturday. Peguero would score on a sac fly by Pablo Sandoval to tie the game at 9-9. However, the 24 year old outfielder went 0-4 during Sunday’s win batting 6th in the lineup.

The Giants now take on the visiting Phillies (14-18) in a three game series. San Francisco’s probables are Madison Bumgarner (3-0), Tim Lincecum (2-1), and Barry Zito (3-1). Philadelphia’s probables are Cliff Lee (2-2), Kyle Kendrick (3-1), and Jonathan Pettibone (2-0).

After getting swept out of San Diego, the Giants (16-12) manage to rebound by sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks (15-13) in a three game series in their own home building. They completed the sweep with a 9-6 win over the D’Backs last night with Brandon Belt playing the hero again hitting a 3-run home run in the 8th inning to give San Francisco a 7-6 lead.

Belt was on in this series going 3-10, hitting 2 home runs along with 6 RBI’s. All three of Brandon’s home runs this year have come with 2 strikes and against the D’Backs.

The Giants would add two more in the 9th inning with Pablo Sandoval doubling in Angel Pagan and then Buster Posey hitting a sac fly to get in Brandon Crawford.

Sergio Romo then came in relief in the bottom of the 9th allowing just one hit as he closed out the game for his 11th save of the year.

It looked like San Francisco wouldn’t have to make a comeback to win this contest. Angel Pagan started the game off with a solo home run, his first of the year, on just the second pitch from Brandon McCarthy.

The D’Backs, however, answered back with a 3-run home run by shortstop Cliff Pennington in the 2nd inning off of Tim Lincecum. That was also Pennington’s first home run of the season.

Lincecum would go just 5 innings allowing 5 earned runs and 10 hits while striking out 6. Timmy would allow an RBI double by Eric Chavez in the 4th inning and then a RBI single by Paul Goldschmidt in the 5th.

McCarthy of the Diamondbacks wasn’t much better allowing 4 earned in 6 innings of work. Giants scored two in the 5th with an RBI double by Pagan and an RBI triple by Crawford. Angel Pagan would finish the game going 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, 3 runs, and the home run hit in the 1st.

Hunter Pence then hit a solo home run in the 6th marking his 5th home run of the year.

The D’Backs would extend their lead 6-4 with an RBI Double by Cliff Pennington off of reliever Javier Lopez. Pennington went 2-4 on the night with 4 RBI’s, including that 3-run home run in the 2nd.

After that, Belt’s 8th inning home run gave San Francisco the lead back for good.

It was late inning heroics for Belt and the Giants in the other two games of the series. Game 1 had Brandon Belt breaking a 4-4 tie with a 2-single to center to help get the Giants a 6-4 victory.

Game 2 had Pablo Sandoval rescuing San Francisco from a loss in the 9th inning with a 2-run home run to take the lead. Giants would win 2-1. That was Sandoval’s 4th home run of the year as Pablo went 5-12 in the series with 4 RBI’s.

The Giants now head home to take on their rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers (13-14). The Dodger blue just finished a home series against the Colorado Rockies winning 1 out of a 3 game series.

San Francisco’s probables for their next series are Barry Zito (3-1), Ryan Vogelsong (1-2), and Matt Cain (0-2). Los Angeles’ probables are Clayton Kershaw (3-2), Ted Lilly (0-1), and Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-1). The Giants were in LA to start the season off taking 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers.

The rough patch for the San Francisco Giants continues as they lose their fifth straight game. The San Diego Padres defeated the defending World Champs earlier today 6-4 completing a three game sweep at Petco Park.

The Giants now fall to 13-12 on the year as the Padres improve to 9-15.

The Padres hit 3 home runs off of Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong for a total of 5 runs. The long balls started in the 1st when Chase Headley hit a solo shot to center for his 2nd home run of the year. Then Nick Hundley hit a 2-run home run in the 2nd inning for his 2nd of the year. Alexi Amarista hit the last home run for San Diego in the 4th inning getting a 2-run shot himself, his first long ball of the season.

Vogelsong would be taken out in the 6th after giving up a walk and a single to start off the inning. Vogelsong (1-2) has not had it this year as he’s given up 7 home runs already in 2013 and has a 6.23 ERA.

The sixth Padres run would be scored in that 6th inning as Alexi Amarista scored on a passed ball by Buster Posey.

San Diego’s starter Jason Marquis (2-2) got the win but it didn’t look easy. Marquis gave up 6 hits and walked 4 but only allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings of work. Brandon Crawford hit a sac fly to center to score in Hunter Pence and later Pablo Sandoval singled in Angel Pagan in the 5th.

Marquis did avoid a huge third inning. The bases were loaded with 1 out when he managed to get Pence to ground out into an inning ending 5-4-3 double play. Giants were 2-7 with runners in scoring position.

The Giants’ hopes were raised by Buster Posey in the 8th inning when he hit a two run home run to right off of Padres reliever Brad Brach. It was Posey’s 3rd home run of the year.

Chris Denorfria almost made the jumping catch to bring back Posey’s home run but had just missed as he hit the wall. Denorfria, however, would make a web gem like play later in the inning. With the tying runs on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, Denorfria made a diving catch on an Andres Torres line drive that would’ve tied the game.

The Giants would get some late 9th inning action going when Pablo Sandoval singled aboard with two outs. Buster Posey, however, would ground out to second to end the game and the series.

Game 1 and 2 of the series were pretty close contests. Game 1 was a low scoring affair that ended in a 2-1 Padres win. San Diego managed to get a couple of 2-out RBI singles in the 3rd inning which would be enough to defeat Tim Lincecum (2-1).

Game 2 had the Giants out to a 5 run lead, large part due to a 3-run home run by Brandon Crawford in the 2nd inning, his 5th homer of the year. The Padres, however, had a 6-run 4th inning which started with a dropped ball by Andres Torres in left field.

A Hunter Pence triple would score two runs for the Giants in the 5th inning to get San Francisco’s lead back. Padres outfielder Kyle Blanks would then tie the game in the 7th with an RBI single to center.

The game would go into extras where the Padres had runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the 12th. Nick Hundley hit a hard grounder which went under the glove of Giants 2B Marco Scutaro allowing Yonder Alonso to score from third for a 8-7 Padres win.

The Giants must now find a way to end their losing streak in Arizona as they leave Southern California to take on the Diamondbacks in a three game series. San Francisco’s probables are Matt Cain (0-2), Madison Bumgarner (3-0), and Tim Lincecum (2-1). Arizona’s probables are Ian Kennedy (1-2), Trevor Cahill (1-3), and Brandon McCarthy (0-3).

The D’Backs were the ones who started the Giants off on this 5 game skid. Arizona managed to win 2 out of 3 at San Francisco earlier this week.

Despite all the rallying, the Giants were unable to take the series.

After splitting the first two games of the series with Arizona, the Diamondbacks managed to grab a game three win in 10 innings 3-2. Wil Nieves hit in the winning run for the D’Backs on a sac fly to center which brought home Paul Goldschmidt from third base.

The Giants were able to get the tying run into scoring position in the bottom half of the 10th with a 2-out double by Brandon Belt. Joaquin Arias, who pinched hit for Gregor Blanco to face the left handed Matt Reynolds, failed to bring in Belt grounding out to short to end the contest.

Most of the game was a pitchers duel between Ian Kennedy and Madison Bumgarner. Kennedy pitched 6 plus inning allowing 1 run in the 7 innings with Brandon Crawford hitting a double deep to center to score in Blanco from 1st base.

Bumgarner pitched 7 1/3 innings striking out 7 and allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, and an earned run in the top of the 8th that tied the game at 1-1. A.J. Pollack singled in Gerardo Parra from 2nd base.

Santiago Casilla came in to relieve Bumgarner and got the final two outs of the inning.

Casilla was then relieved by Jose Mijares for the 9th inning and allowed the D’backs to take a 2-1 lead when Gerardo Parra hit in Didi Gregorius from 2nd on a single to left. Sergio Romo would have to come in and get the final out of the inning getting A.J. Pollack to foul out to third.

Brandon Crawford managed to keep the game alive another inning by hitting a solo shot to right field off of David Hernandez, making it his 4th home run of the year. Crawford finished the game going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s.

Buster Posey then pinched hit for the pitcher’s spot a couple batters latter and managed to get a single with 2 outs. He then got to second when Hernandez walked Angel Pagan. Hernandez, however, prevented the winning run from reaching home getting Marco Scutaro to ground out to 2nd.

The magic then ran out in the 10th inning.

There was some magic in game one of the series when Brandon Belt pinched hit a walk off single to left scoring in Andres Torres from second base for a 5-4 Giants win.

Belt was Mr. Clutch the following night as well when he managed to tie the game at 4-4 with a 2-run shot in the 9th inning. It was his first home run of the year. However, the D’backs managed to score 2 runs in the 11th inning thanks to a wild pitch by Casilla allowing Gregorius to score and then Gerardo Parra hitting a double to score in Alfredo Marte. Arizona would win 6-4.

A disappointing series for the Giants as they now leave AT&T for a 6 game road trip that includes three games in Arizona to face the Diamondbacks. But first, they head to San Diego to play the Padres in a three game series starting tomorrow night.

This will be the Giants first trip to San Diego this year but their 2nd series against the Padres as they just finished a three game sweep over San Diego last Sunday. San Francisco’s probables for this weekend are Tim Lincecum (2-0), Barry Zito (3-1), and Ryan Vogelsong (1-1). San Diego’s probables are Andrew Cashner (0-1), Eric Stults (2-2), and Jason Marquis (1-2). Both Lincecum and Zito’s last starts were against the Padres with each one getting credited with a win.

The San Francisco Giants (12-7) finished a three game sweep of the San Diego Padres (5-13) yesterday by a final of 5-0. Barry Zito managed to recover from his worst career outing to get the win over the Padres advancing to 3-1 on the season. Zito pitched 7 shutout innings, striking out 4, and allowed 5 hits and 1 walk.

“I felt pretty good in my game and the results weren’t there last (time). I felt pretty good today and the results were there. That’s just the nature of the game,” Zito said after the win over San Diego.

Though his ERA is 3.42 exiting today, Zito hasn’t allowed a run in 3 of his 4 starts this year. All his runs were given up last Tuesday vs. the Brewers allowing 9 earned.

Chad Gaudin came into the game in the 8th inning for the Giants pitching two strong innings out of the pen allowing only one hit and striking out two.

As for their 5 runs, the Giants started to produce in the 3rd inning. Angel Pagan hit a 2-run double followed up by Pablo Sandoval getting an RBI single to get in Pagan.

Then in the 5th, Buster Posey finally got in the Home Run column this season hitting a 2-run home run for insurance against the Padres. However, the 2012 NL MVP is still hitting under .250 for the season (.233).

Eric Stults (2-2) of the Padres pitched 7 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 8 hits. He would get only 2 strikeouts as his ERA gets raised to 4.70 in four starts.

The Padres had runners in scoring position twice early in the 1st and 2nd inning. Those runners only got on base when there were two outs and San Diego failed to get them farther than 2nd base.

Game 1 of the series ended with Angel Pagan hitting a walk off double to right field giving San Francisco a 3-2 win. That snapped the Giants three game losing streak at the time.

Pablo Sandoval provided all the offense in game 2 hitting a 2-run home run in the 4th inning. The Giants would shutout the Padres in a 2-0 win with Tim Lincecum (2-0) going 6 2/3 innings striking out 8 allowing 4 hits and 2 walks.

The bullpen would take over for Lincecum with Sergio Romo coming into the game in the 9th to record his 8th save of the year.

The next series for the Giants has them staying at home to take on the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks (10-8) in a three game set which starts tonight. San Francisco’s probables are Ryan Vogelsong (1-1), Matt Cain (0-2), and Madison Bumgarner (3-0). Arizona’s probables are Wade Miley (2-0), Patrick Corbin (2-0), and Ian Kennedy (1-2).

The D’backs just avoided getting swept by the Rockies as they ended Colorado’s 8 game winning streak yesterday. A two run top of the 9th inning gave the D’backs the win 5-4.
