We will take a look at the Jackets top 5 bigest draft bust. This list is just now as most of the Jackets draft pick are still very young as the Blue Jackets have only been around for ten year.

1. Alexandre Picard. He has been a huge bust for the Blue Jackets. The Jackets took him 8th in the 2004 draft. Picard has spend most of his time in the minors and was also traded to Phoenix at this years trade deadline. In 67 games in the NHL he has no goals and 2 assist.

2. Gilbert Brule. He was suppost to be the “future number one center” but that never paned out . Brule taken 6th in the 2005 draft was also traded. He was traded to Edmonton for Raffi Torres. Brule has started to show some good offence and defence skills since his trade to Oliers but for the Blue Jackets he was a bust. in 146 games with the Jackets Brule had 12 goals and 20 assist.

3.Nikolai Zherdev. Tho Zherdev did put up some good numbers with the Jackets he can still be called a bust. A couple of reasons he never showed any heart. Also he was traded like so many of other Blue Jacket first round pick’s he was traded to the New York Rangers. In 283 games with the Jackets Zherdev has 76 goals and 105 assist. Zherdev was the Jackets 4th pick in the 2003 draft.

4. Rostislav Klesla. The Blue Jackets first ever drat pick at 4th in the 2000 nhl draft. Klesla has been a bust also and he is the only one on this list who has not been traded yet.Klesla was called a “franchise defenseman” by the moron Doug MacLean. Klesla has been very injury prone. In 470 games Klesla has 38 goals and 85 assist and a plus minus of -60.

5.Pascal Leclaire. Was suppost to be the “:Franchise golie” but never panned out. Leclaire was also very injury proned. Was 8th pick in the 2001 draft. Leclaire in 159 games with Ottawa and the Jackets has 57 wins and 69 loses.

Yesterday the Coulumbus Blue Jackets welcomed new Head Coach Scott Arniel to the team. After the team offered the Job to Guy Boucher and he turned them down Scott Howson said at press conference that 20 minutes after that happend he contacted Scott Arniel and he accpeted the job right away

Scott Arniel quotes

On achieving his second “hockey dream” …

“Growing up, my dream was to play in the NHL one day. I was fortunate enough to live that dream. The last 11 years, my dream was to get back to the NHL as a coach. The call from (Howson) yesterday actually had my jaw drop. It’s not the call I was expecting. It’s one of the happiest moments of my hockey career.”

On what he sees on the Blue Jackets’ roster …

“I talked to a lot of people around hockey and everybody had me pointed in this direction. There are other organizations looking for coaches, but this one really intrigued me. There’s lots of skill, lots of talent, and there’s lots of youth. There’s good experience in there, too, and great goaltending. There are lots of things to be excited about here.”

On dealing with being Howson’s second choice …

“I didn’t really care what happened to the other candidates.”

On his puck-possession philosophy …

“You work so hard to get the puck, you ought to try and keep it. You have to pay the price, but I want guys to show their skills. The areas where you can game-manage is how involved is your ‘D”, how much are they pinching? You’re trying to press the opposition in their own zone, trying to be mobile with your “D” as much as possible. Everybody’s sort of doing the same thing, but it’s the parameters you put on your players, how much do you say ‘you can go here, or you can’t go there?’ I want to loosen people up and let them play.”

On whether he favors a 1-2-2 or a 2-2-1 forecheck …

“That’s going to be part of what I get to figure out about this team. Is our left side such that we want to let our center and right side guys go? Do we have both of our wingers go in and go center on center and have those guys take it up the ice? I want to get a feel for the players we have here and talk to them before I have an answer for that.”

On whether Rick Nash will play left wing or right wing next season …

“That’s a conversation I’m going to have with Rick, see what he thinks. He’s a world-class player, so if he says he likes the right side better, we’ll have a conversation about that. If we get into a situation where I need him on the left, I’ll tell him the reasons why and we’ll go down that road.”

There were four players at the press conference Derek Dorsett,Jared Boll,Steve Mason, and John Moore.

Arniel get’s a 3 year deal.

One big problem that the Jackets face is the lack of leader ship in the locker room they tryed to adress this last year when they got Chris Clark but i still belive that they still need more leadership or this team will not go anywere there is to many young guys on this team and this was a huge problem last year.

The Jackets also don’t have much cap to work with as they are loseing a lot of money every year. To improve this year they will have to get players proably though trade and or draft.

Arniel, 47, joins the Blue Jackets after spending four seasons as head coach of the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose, the top affiliate for the Vancouver Canucks. He led the club to a 181-106-33 record (.617) from 2006-10.

If the Jackets do not trade there draft pick (4th pick) i would love for them to draft either D Erik Gudbranson, or Brett Connolly LW.

Gudbranson, 6’3 195 pounds Kingston (OHL)

The Coulumbus Blue Jackets have offered there head coaching job to Guy Boucher the head coach of the Hamilton bulldogs the ahl team of Monteral. He has till tuesday to let them know if he accepts the job.

Here are some pros and cons of this.

cons

1. The Jackets are a young team Boucher is a young coach the Jackets don’t have very many leaders in this locker room all i’m saying is inexperince coach inexperince team.

2. will he leave back for Monteral when they need a coach?

3. The system he uses is needed for a flee footed puck moveing d man, the jackets only have one Kris Russel.

4. only one year of professinal coaching.

Pros

1.He is young and can realte to the younger guys. and he is also known for being good a devlepoment.

If he does become the coach the Jackets will need to make some moves on the d core and this could also change who they draft.

so that is all for now

What do you think of this? have any pros or cons?

Thanks for reading!

UPDATE 4:27

Boucher has turned down the job\

Now on to who might get the job now i belive that Kevin Dineen is there guy and thats who i though it should of been from the beging.

so now it’s down to

Kevin Dineen

Claude Noel

Scott Arniel

Who do you think gets the job?

update 6:43

Scott Arniel has got the job more later.

Bigest surprises

Antoine Vermette

Jackub Voracek

Derek Dorsett

A look to the off season i would like the Blue Jackets to pick Erik Gudbranson the 6’3 d man is what the Jackets imo need.He is a franchie defenceman that this team needs and can bulid around

Some free agents they shoud look at our

Paul Martin,Kim Johnsson,Matt Cullen,Patrick Marleau
