My addiction: the Arsenal Football Club; a genealogical hand-me-down from my English grandparents. While purely coincidental, it doesn’t hurt that I share my proper name with one of the Gunners’ all-time greats—but as a second-generation American living in the States, I’m hard-pressed to find much—let alone quality—local coverage on the Club.

Granted, we have a couple dedicated footy networks that pepper their smarmy Americanized highlight shows with legitimate satellite broadcasts from UK outlets—but for the less-than-obsessive EPL supporter, quality, home-grown punditry is hard to find. The fact that every American Arsenal supporter relies on the same few1 (albeit completely excellent) overseas-based blogs, in my opinion, yields a local fanbase whose opinions and conversations are firmly rooted in the art of regurgitation.2

Now, don’t get me wrong; the more content and information that an educated supporter absorbs relative to Arsenal, the better. My frustration simply arises whilst overhearing debates down at the pub that sound like a few blokes each chose a blog (see below), and set their MacBooks to read aloud successive posts in that Stephen Hawking intonation.

With this blog, my “goal,” as it were, is to deliver opinion and analysis that is as fresh and palatable as the beautiful football that Arsenal are known for. Oh, and if these words lend themselves to the afore-mentioned regurgitation, I’d be nothing but flattered.

‘Til Next Time… Up the Gunners!

1 Arseblog, Gunnerblog, Goodplaya and A Cultured Left Foot are top, top class.

2 If you were so inclined, however, to regurgitate some prose from this particular blog—I can’t say that I’d mind.
