Sugar Bowl Recap–Hokies Lose the Game
Posted on 4 Jan 2012 by Frank Sullivan.
For Virginia Tech fans last night's Sugar Bowl loss will sting for a while. In a game that went back and forth with the lead changing hands while players and coaches matched each other step for step, the Hokies consistently put themselves in losing situations. Ultimately paying for it in the end, losing 23-20 in OT. I'll try to make it simple. Looking at the statistics from last nights...

Sugar Bowl: VT vs. Michigan—For the BCS Decreed
Posted on 3 Jan 2012 by Frank Sullivan.
I know, okay? I know no one wanted these two teams in this game. Virginia Tech lost to Clemson, twice! They didn't win their conference or win any big, marquee games this season. They fell backwards into the millions of dollars that come from a BCS Bowl bid, so don't expect them to apologize for being selected; it's not their fault, blame the damn BCS. Michigan also didn't win their con...

Going Bowling, Again
Posted on 27 Dec 2011 by Corey Rioux.
The Florida State Seminoles are headed to the the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Florida to face the prestiged Notre Dame University. This marks the 30th consecutive year that the Seminoles have been invited to a bowl game, clearly a historic mark for their university athletics. After a disappointing season that once held National Championship conversations, Florida State finished 8-4, out of t...

VT vs. Clemson–What Just Happened?
Posted on 4 Dec 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
Everything that has transpired in the last 24 hours has been hard to follow. First, the winner-take-all over-hyped ACC Championship game went in the opposite direction most people predicted. The red-hot Virginia Tech Hokies came into the game having won their last seven games; last losing October 1st to the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers limped into Saturday's game having lost three of their la...

VT vs. Clemson–The Rematch
Posted on 1 Dec 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
On October 1st the #13 Clemson Tigers traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia to take on the #11 Hokies of VA Tech. The game was touted as an early-season ACC Championship game preview; the Tigers came in with a young, explosive offense while the Hokies had struggled early, but remained dominant on defense, and with their home crowd behind them, were up for any challenge. As the Tigers slowl...

A “State” of Mind
Posted on 30 Nov 2011 by Corey Rioux.
For the second straight year, the Florida State Seminoles defeated the hated Florida Gators in rivalry week, 21-7. The Noles' 8th win of the season secured the state of Florida as they have beaten Miami and Florida in the same year for the second straight season. The recruiting edge this gives to Florida State is huge if they look to contend the for ACC title in the next coming years. Overall t...

VT vs. UVA–Still VT’s State
Posted on 27 Nov 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
After defeating the UVA Cavaliers 38-0 Saturday evening in Charlottesville the Virginia Tech Hokies are clearly still the class of the ACC, and more importantly the state of Virginia. They've gotten better with each game since losing to Clemson seven weeks ago. The rematch with Clemson December 3rd for the ACC Championship will surely be a better showing from the Hokies than the 23-3 home d...

VT vs. UVA–Rivalry Renewed
Posted on 26 Nov 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
When Virginia Tech (9-1,6-1) and UVA (8-3,5-2) clash Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville it'll be more than bragging rights on the line. For the first time since Tech joined the ACC, UVA can not only knock the Hokies out of the ACC Championship game with a win, but spring-board themselves into the title match against Clemson. It's been a weird season all around college football. The BCS, ...

Left Speechless

Saturday night showed to be heartbreaking in Tallahassee, as the Seminoles fell to the Virginia Cavaliers, 14-13 in a kind of finish that words can't describe. The Noles' fell to 7-4 (5-3) on the once dream season after another disappointing finish in northern Florida. It was the kind of game that a fan hopes for; an exciting finish with a wild twist. On the Seminoles last offensive play, EJ Ma...

VT vs. UNC–Now We Wait
Posted on 18 Nov 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
“It wasn't real clean, but it was a win. I think that’s the important thing at this time.” I think coach Frank Beamer summed it up as best he could after Virginia Tech edged out UNC 24-21 at home Thursday night. The Hokies led 24-7 midway through the fourth quarter but sloppy play and an ineffective offense gave the Tarheels a chance to claw back. Luckily, VT played well enough thr...

VT vs. UNC–Stay the Course
Posted on 17 Nov 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
Yes, I know, I picked against the Hokies last Thursday. I didn't think they had the defensive intensity or the offensive efficiency to match up with the Yellow Jackets. Once again, I was a little off in my prediction. With only two conference games left, a likely ACC Championship re-match with Clemson, and the ensuing bowl game, I only have a few more chances to right the ship. Let's g...

Still Motivated, Georgia Tech Travels to Duke
Posted on 17 Nov 2011 by Ericka Birdsong.
After a loss to Virginia tech last week, Georgia Tech is no longer a contender for the ACC Division Championship, but they continue to prepare to get on the road to North Carolina to face the Duke Blue Devils. During his weekly conference, Head Coach Paul Johnson commented on last week’s game saying, “It's good to be back practicing after a disappointing game last Thursday night. I thought ...
