Posted on 1 Jan 2011 by Brian Joyce.
Sophomore quarterback B.J. Daniels ( 20/27 189 yards, 2 TD) threw two touchdown passes and ran for another touchdown as the Bulls pulled off the upset yesterday in Charlotte, N.C. Daniels was starting for the first time in thirty four days ( he got hurt at Miami on Thanksgiving weekend ) and earned the MVP honors in yesterday's 31-26 win over Clemson in the Meineke Car Care Bowl played at...

Running Diary from the Stands of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl
Posted on 31 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
By now, you have probably heard the story. When Doug Marrone was selected as Syracuse football head coach in December 2008, he was taking the reigns of a program that had won 10 games in the last four years. Two years later, Marrone’s team got a chance to play on the field of Yankee Stadium. The story feel-good story’s happy ending is not simply that the Orange played in a bowl. His team wo...

Who Will Start At Quarterback For The Bulls?
Posted on 29 Dec 2010 by Brian Joyce.
Anyone that has been following the South Florida Bulls in 2010 knows all about the struggling offense and it starts at quarterback. On offense South Florida ranks near the bottom of just about every statistical category in the country. When you think you have two quarterbacks, you don't even have one. Sophomore B.J. Daniels started the first eleven games but he had his share of ups and downs ...

Time to Go Bowling: Syracuse vs. Kansas State New Era Pinstripe Bowl Preview
Posted on 27 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
Back in August, Syracuse football Head Coach Doug Marrone declared his goal for the season was to lead the Orange to its first bowl game since 2004. It sounded like a bunch of rhetoric; the same cliché goal that every coach claims he has at the beginning of the season whether he believes it or not. Four months later, Marrone has turned Orange nation into a group of believers. SU will take on K...

Bulls Lose A Close One

For the second year in a row Connecticut's kicker Dave Teggart hit the game winner. Last year in Hartford, he beat South Florida as time expired. This year he kicked it from 52 yards out with 17 seconds left in the game and it gave the Huskies a 19-16 win over the South Florida Bulls. UConn won their first ever Big East title and a first ever trip to a BCS bowl, and they'll be playing the B...

Mountaineers Do Their Part
Posted on 4 Dec 2010 by Jason Lee.
As I dive into this 24th and final regular season blog I have a confession to make. Up until today, I haven't attended a WVU regular season game since September of 1997. In case you're wondering, guys like Amos Zereoue and Mark Bulger were the stars of the team back then and of course Don Nehlen was head coach. Confessions and nostalgia aside, the 23rd ranked Mountaineers (9-3, 5-2 Big Ea...

Kansas State to Play Syracuse in Pinstripe Bowl
Posted on 3 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
Syracuse has learned who it will face in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30. The Kansas State Wildcats, also 7-5, accepted a bid Thursday night. It will be the Wildcats, members of the Big 12 Conference, first bowl game since 2006. Syracuse fans have been waiting for two years longer, of course. The Orange has not played in a bowl game since 2004. The game will be played at Yankee Stadium (W...

The Biggest little Game in Mountaineer History
Posted on 2 Dec 2010 by Jason Lee.
The end of the 2010 regular season is about to come to a close for the West Virginia Mountaineers (8-3, 4-2 Big East) but not without plenty of drama. Riding on what would seem like a meaningless game against Rutgers (4-7, 1-5 Big East) is the 2010 Big East Championship and a BCS birth (more than likely the Fiesta Bowl). That said, everyone in the state of West Virginia are hoping for two ...

Empire State of Mind: Syracuse Accepts Bid to Pinstripe Bowl
Posted on 2 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
After a 7-5 2010 season, Syracuse has accepted a bid to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 30th. The Orange will take on a Big 12 opponent in The House that George Built (Yankee Stadium). Kick off is at 3:37. This will be great for local recruiting. There are also plenty of ‘Cuse alum in NYC, so Doug Marrone and Co. will have plenty of fan support. Then again, SU doesn't play well in ...

Will USF Play Spoiler?
Posted on 2 Dec 2010 by Brian Joyce.
When the season started, who would have thought the Connecticut Huskies would have a chance to win the Big East? If UConn wins on Saturday night in Tampa, that's the scenario folks. UConn like South Florida was a Division IAA team until 2005, when both joined the Big East. Bulls first year head coach Skip Holtz was quoted ” We're not playing to spoil somebody else's year, we're playin...

Ice Cold: Syracuse offense stagnant in loss to Boston College
Posted on 27 Nov 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
I hope everyone in Syracuse enjoyed those home wins against Maine and Colgate. They were the only games SU won in the apparently not-so-friendly confines of the Carrier Dome this season. Today, the Orange dropped its REGULAR season finale to Boston College 16-7. At least Syracuse’s bowl game won’t be at home. The story of the game is not much different than SU’s recent home losses: A good...

USF Beats The U

South Florida ( 7-4) pulls off the upset at Miami ( 7-5) with a 23-20 win in overtime. Demetris Murray's second touchdown of the game was the difference. With this win against Miami, the Bulls remain perfect in overtime, they are now 9-0 in the extra session. Two of those nine wins in overtime have happened twice in the last three weeks. South Florida has really grown up in the month of...
