Relax, Things will be OK
Posted on 11 Oct 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
For the last few years CMU football fans have been spoiled. 3 conference titles in four years and four bowl games in a row. A top 25 ranking and a 12-2 season last year. When success happens at non-BCS schools more often then not you will be looking for a new coach. CMU found that in Dan Enos, I will not pretend to know him well but I have been able to talk to him a few times and be around him ...

CMU-Va Tech Preview
Posted on 7 Oct 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
After a disappointing loss it is nice to have a easier week to try to regroup your team. Coach Dan Enos and Central Michigan sadly does not have that advantage. After a terrible home lossto Ball State CMU goes on the road to Va Tech, who seems to finally be playing like most thought they would all year. It seems like CMU has this game at the wrong time of the season. After the James Madison los...

Pay Back
Posted on 3 Oct 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
What goes around, comes around. How many times in life have you heard that? So far the 2010 CMU football team is getting a good dose of it. For a team that has won three of the last four conference titles and only lost two conference games the last three years, they have already lost two in their first three conference games this year. The last lost was by far the worst. Loosing at home to Bal...

Home Sweet Home
Posted on 29 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
After a three game road trip the CMU football team finally returns home on Saturday to play MAC West rival Ball State. Kelly/Shorts stadium has been very kind to the Chippewa's of late. They are 17-4 at home since 2006, and have won 6 games in a row and 10 of their last 11. Their only loss in the that time happens to be to Ball State, but that was when Nate Davis lead the #14 ranked Cardi...

The Spread hangover
Posted on 28 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
A lot of teams across the country right now in college football runs some short of the spread offense. Some may want to pass out of it more, some may want to run out of it more, but you see some short of spread offense way more then you don't. The I-formation seems to be a lost art. Having a full back, having a special package once you get near the goal line or in short yardage. CMU is one of t...

Points left on the field
Posted on 26 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
When playing a good team you need to take advantage of ever chance you get, and you can not leave points on the field. CMU lost a tough game to Northwestern on Saturday 30-25 where they missed two PATs and a FG. They also had two interceptions and lost a fumble. For their part Northwestern didn't look too sharp early either, having 5 flags thrown on them early in the first quarter and turnovers...

Chippewa’s face another road test
Posted on 23 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
CMU has won their last two games against Big Ten teams, MSU last year, Indiana the year before, but on Saturday they travel to Northwestern and face a 3-0 Wildcat team that has already gone on the road twice, at Vandy and at Rice, which is very uncommon so early in the year for a BCS team. This will be CMU's last road game of a three game road trip as the Chippewa's finally return home Octobe...

Cotton, CMU, Runs Over Eastern
Posted on 18 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
Paris Cotton had a career day in CMU's 52-14 win over Eastern Michigan, running the ball 20 times for 196 yards and 3 scores, he also caught three balls for 37 yards. However, it could have been better, since Cotton also had two fumbles, though one was recovered by CMU, the one he lost was on the 3 yard line as he was about to score. Still Cotton had a great game and he was the key factor in CM...

0-for a Career
Posted on 15 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
Ron English has yet to get his first win as head coach atEastern Michigan, he is 0-14, but he is getting closer. They have lost their two games this year, Army and Miami Ohio by a combined 11 points. Compare that to last year when EMU lost in Mt Pleasant to CMU 56-8, so there is improvement. This game worries me on Saturday for one reason. Eastern cares about the game way more then Central...

A Great, Badly Played, Game
Posted on 9 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
“If the game comes down to field goals you have to give Temple the edge.” Those words were written by me on Tuesday in previewing the CMU-Temple game, and even though both kickers missed field goals, it was the made field goal in overtime that was the difference in the game as Temple beats CMU 13-10 in a very good game, though it was not well played at all. Mistakes by both teams at...

Don’t Sing it… Bring it
Posted on 7 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
When you win 3 conference titles in four years all eyes are on you, every team gets up when they play you. When a team feels they are the new team to beat, they talk smack about how it is your turn to step aside, and this is their year. CMU has been that team in the MAC for the last four years, and everyone else has been trying to knock them off. Temple is the first MAC team that gets a chance...

Chippewa’s Start the Enos Era with Shutout Win
Posted on 3 Sep 2010 by Steve Schwanda.
The first game of any season is usually a little sloppy. You usually don’t see the best your team has to offer. I sure hope that is the case for CMU football this year. The good news CMU beat Hampton 33-0 in the first game for new head coach Dan Enos and the first career start for QB Ryan Radcliff, however they hardly looked dominate against a team that was extremely ov...
