Arizona Falls Short at The Coliseum
Posted on 2 Oct 2011 by Matthew Hesse.
The Arizona Wildcats looked good yesterday. They ran and passed the ball brilliantly. However, USC still scored more points in the shootout at the Coliseum. USC won 48-41. Matt Barkley was able to torch Arizona for a USC record 468 yards. USC scored on just about every possession. Clearly the weak point for this Arizona team is their defense. Matt Barkley is good but he is not rec...

Arizona hopes to bounce back this week in a must win game at The Coliseum. Arizona (1-3) will face off against USC (3-1). USC showed some vulnerability last week in their loss to Arizona State. Don’t count USC as a bad team but Arizona State as a good team. This will be quite the uphill battle for the struggling Arizona Wildcats. Arizona will have their hands full especially with USC ...

A third straight Top 10 team for Arizona and a third straight crushing loss for Arizona. Oregon pummeled Arizona by a score of 56-31. Yes, it looks like Oregon has turned a new leaf since their heartbreaking loss to LSU in week 1. Oregon went up 35-3 in the first half before Arizona went on a scoring run in the third quarter. The Wildcats were able to score 21 unasnwered points to bri...

The Arizona Wildcats are licking their wounds AGAIN this week. Another week another crushing defeat by a Top 25 team. This will be the third Top 10 opponent in 3 weeks. First it was the slaughter at Oklahoma State. This past week, it was at home against Stanford. Now, the Wildcats will face off against home against Pac-12 favorite Oregon. Sure, they struggled against LSU and only hold a...

Sloppy Play Leads to Blowout Loss For Arizona
Posted on 30 Dec 2010 by Henry Childs.
One would think that holding the high-powered offense of Oklahoma State to 312 total yards of offense would guarantee a victory. But how wrong one would be if you looked at the box score of the Alamo Bowl, where Oklahoma State won with big defensive plays and solid work from its quarterback, Brandon Weeden. The Cowboys won Wednesday night 36-10 over Arizona. Yes, Oklahoma State didn’t play th...

Alamo Bowl Preview: Arizona vs. Oklahoma State
Posted on 28 Dec 2010 by Henry Childs.
After losing four straight to end the regular season, 7-5 Arizona will play 10-2 and 14th ranked Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on Wednesday. The Arizona team that will take the field on Wednesday is almost playing opposite of how they were playing the first half of the season. For much of the season, it was the Wildcat defense that was heralded, and the offense that was solid,...

Two Blocked PAT’s Doom Arizona as Arizona State Wins the Territorial Cup
Posted on 3 Dec 2010 by Henry Childs.
Heartbreaking. In a double-overtime thriller, Arizona State edged Arizona 30-29 to claim the Territorial Cup on Thursday night after the game-tying PAT was blocked by the Sun Devils. First, I need to take a deep breath. Okay, that’s better. What a game to end all Thursday night games in the regular season. Both teams showed heart, guts, and a hunger to win this football game. But in the end, ...

Arizona will try to salvage what’s left of their season tomorrow, as they host rival Arizona State at 5pm PST on ESPN. Arizona has lost three games in a row. Arizona State is coming off its best offensive performance of the season, when they beat UCLA last weekend 55-34. Will the Wildcats end the regular season with a win? Or will the Sun Devils finish their season at 6-6, but what could’ve...

Arizona Unable to Hold Halftime Lead, Loses to Oregon 48-29
Posted on 27 Nov 2010 by Henry Childs.
Arizona had its shot, but Oregon proved too much to handle. The Ducks beat the Wildcats on Saturday 48-29 in Eugene. I was fortunate enough to attend the game, and let me tell you, for a while, it looked like the game was Arizona’s to lose. The first half was clearly the type of game that Arizona wanted to play. The defense played well, holding Oregon to only 14 points and under 200 yards of ...

Can the Wildcats Pull of the Upset?
Posted on 25 Nov 2010 by Henry Childs.
If you don’t think the last two weeks have been challenging, this week may be the toughest challenge yet for Arizona, as they travel to Eugene to play the number one ranked Oregon Ducks. As a student at the University of Oregon, I have been able to watch the Ducks throughout the season. And for most of the season, I thought to myself that the Oregon offense couldn’t be stopped. Until two we...

Pac-10 Preview

Well, there’s no Arizona game this weekend, so I thought I could take a good look at the three Pac-10 games this weekend. Washington (3-6, 2-4) vs. UCLA (4-5, 2-4) Thursday, 5pm PST The Huskies, who get Jake Locker back, face a UCLA squad coming off a bye week in a battle that has the Bruins looking to get back to .500 on the season, and Washington trying to keep their bowl hopes alive. Obvio...

Arizona vs. USC Preview
Posted on 11 Nov 2010 by Henry Childs.
After a humbling loss to Stanford last weekend, 18th ranked Arizona will host USC this Saturday and try to rebound from its second loss of the season. The Wildcats were pounded on both sides of the ball last week against a better-prepared Stanford team. The Arizona defense was worn down, and it certainly won’t get too much of a break against a Trojans offense that is deep and talented. Led by...
