Phil Humber throws 21st Perfect Game in MLB history.
Posted on 21 Apr 2012 by Sean McCabe.
I woke up today and saw that the White Sox vs the Mariners was one of the two games being shown nationally this Saturday on Fox. This struck me as odd since both of these teams, for lack of a better word, stink. Neither have any superstars to speak of unless you want to lump in King Felix in Seattle. Then Phil Humber showed up and fired a perfect game. The 29 year old journey man became the 2...

AL Central: Who Will Take This Division?
Posted on 22 Jul 2011 by Adrian Fedkiw.
Minnesota Twins writer Jonathan Fawkes and Kansas City Royals writer Ryan Riordan join me to discuss the wild AL Central race. Can the Indians continue this pace? Will Detroit finally take the Central after a few heartbreaks in the past couple of seasons? Can Chicago and Minnesota get back in the race? We will offer our opinions as to how we think the AL Central will play out. http://www.talk...

Building Momentum at Home
Posted on 22 May 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
Winners in 11 of their last 15 games, 5 series in a row without a losing series, a 5-2 home stand, and a TON of momentum. That's everything the White Sox have been able to accomplish over the past two and a half weeks of the season. The Sox now embark on a tough 10-game road trip to Texas, Toronto, and Boston. In order for the Sox to continue to build momentum they will need to keep pitching ...

Just a Little Perspective
Posted on 12 May 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
Most people go through life as either an optimist or a pessimist. The age-old adage is that the optimist sees the glass as half full, the pessimist sees that same glass as half empty. The same can be applied to the Chicago White Sox performance so far this season. The pessimist sees a 15-23 record, including an awful 5-11 record at home which has been a strength of the Sox in the past. A team b...

Record April Leaves Sox With More Questions than Answers
Posted on 1 May 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
The 2011 White Sox have set a record in April, but not one that the team wants to remember. After the 6-2 loss to Baltimore on Saturday the Sox closed out April with a 10-18 record. The 18 losses set a franchise record in the month of April. The most frustrating part is that there is no hint of the trend changing anytime soon. Looking ahead to May, the schedule does not appear to get any ea...

Humber, Sox Feel Good for One Night
Posted on 26 Apr 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
For Ozzie Guillen, starting a 4 game series in the City That Never Sleeps must feel only fitting assuming he had not been able to sleep much with the way his team had been playing the previous 11 games. My bet is Guillen slept much better last night thanks in large part to Phil Humber and Sergio Santos. Humber took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before giving up a single to Alex Rodriguez by...

Finally! Sox win finale vs Rays
Posted on 22 Apr 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
A great manager once said “We won a game yesterday. We win one today, that's two in a row. We win one tomorrow, that's called a winning streak” Thank you Lou Brown. The White Sox finally snapped a 7 game losing streak by winning the last game of a 4 game series against the Tampa Rays. During the losing streak the offense seemed to have fallen asleep. After the tremendous start ...

Oh What Could Have Been…
Posted on 14 Apr 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
Stop me if you've heard this one before. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen watches his starting pitcher go deep into the game and put the team in a position to win. Guillen goes to the bullpen to close out the game only to see a 9th inning lead evaporate and his team eventually lose the game. For the third time on the current homestand the bullpen has been unable to close out a game in whic...

White Sox “Drop” Game vs. A’s
Posted on 12 Apr 2011 by Shaun Balmer.
Mark Buehrle was brilliant last night for 8 innings versus the Oakland Athletics in limiting the A's to only 2 hits and 3 total base runners. No base runner advanced past 1st base through those 8 innings. Dallas Braden and Tyson Ross were nearly as good for the A's only allowing a solo HR to light hitting Brent Lillibridge. With the Sox leading 1-0 and Buehrle only having thrown 99 pitche...

2011 MLB Preview: Looking at Alexei Ramirez and the Chicago White Sox on Paper
Posted on 30 Mar 2011 by Adrian Fedkiw.
The White Sox are a popular dark-horse candidate to win the AL Central. The x-factor to me is Jake Peavy. When healthy, he can dominate. With him healthy, the rotation has great depth, although they don't really have a true ace. Chicago also revamped the bullpen. After several successful seasons as closer, Jenks scuffled over recent years. With the signing of Dunn, he adds more power to...

Last Gasp?
Posted on 9 Sep 2010 by Patrick Kelley.
The air quality rating society has never crowned Detroit as the best place to breathe in a nice lung-ful of good air. The White Sox may have taken their last couple gasps of it, coming up sputtering and coughing. With today's defeat at the hands of the spoiler Tigers, the Sox are now a full six games back of the Twins with 22 to play for both squads. The promising road trip started quite well w...

THE WINDY CITY WEEKLY: SOX PULLED DOWN, BEARS PREP FOR REAL GAME, BULLS FEELING MELO
Posted on 9 Sep 2010 by Kevin Scholla.
I told you last week to get ready for the Manny bounce. A big boost from the newly acquired slugger. It turns out the Sox got just that. Chicago went a lusty 6-0 in their first half dozen games with Ramirez in uniform. One problem. One really, really, big problem. The Twins did not cooperate. Far from it. With Jim Thome leading the way, Minnesota continued to steamroll the comp...
