The Key to the Closer
Posted on 14 May 2012 by Joseph Inza.
To say that Miami Marlins Closer, Heath Bell, is struggling is an understatement. The $27 million man has an ERA of 10.03 and 4 (officially) blown saves along with other blown ties. Heath Bell has not been 100% awful. There is a silver lining. When Heath Bell has an outing with at least one strikeout, he is a completely different pitcher. In the combined outings where Bell strikes out a batter,...

The Miami Marlins have anticipated the start of this season and the opening their very own ballpark for nearly a decade. Heading into the off season, the usually stingy management decided to open their wallets and invest in a new coach and some new talent to make the 2012 season more exciting. Opening day came and went, and the Marlins found themselves near the bottom of the NL East with a mana...

Ozzie Introduced As Marlins Say Farewell To SunLife
Posted on 29 Sep 2011 by Jon Melton.
The Marlins are on a journey into a new era, and apparently have chosen the crazy train as the mode of transportation. In a move less shocking than the Braves and Red Sox not making the playoffs, the Marlins introduced Ozzie Guillen as the next manager of the soon-to-be Miami Marlins. After eight years of countless bleeps and confusing tirades, the former skipper of Chicago's South side White S...

The Marlins are three weeks away from their farewell game at Sun Life Stadium, a place that the team has called home (under many names) since the franchise's inception in 1993. With the 2011 season all but in the books, the Fish are making preparations for 2012 and the brand new state of the art baseball-only stadium that awaits them on the site of the Orange Bowl. With a vastly depleted farm ...

Fish Finally Missing Uggla
Posted on 13 Aug 2011 by Jon Melton.
It took slightly over three months of the baseball season, but the Florida Marlins are officially missing Dan Uggla. Before Dan-the-Man started his streak on July 5th, it was looking like the Marlins finally ended up on the good side of a trade. At the time, Uggla was batting a putrid .173 with 12 home runs. He was in the midst of a 3-29 slump and had many Braves fans doubting that he was worth...

Marlins Fail To Make A Splash At The Deadline
Posted on 1 Aug 2011 by Jon Melton.
ATLANTA — By the time the Marlins had handed the Braves the franchise's 10,000th loss, the trade deadline had passed with nothing to show for the Fish. Several Marlins players were on other teams' radars with Sunday's 4pm deadline looming, but when all was said and done, everyone stayed where they were. The Marlins salvaged a win on Sunday — although losing the series — and ...

Same Old Marlins

MIAMI GARDENS — Friends of the Fish have seen this play out year after year in South Florida. The Marlins take three steps forward, four steps back. They tease with flashes of brilliance, they taunt with glimmers of hope, they occasionally flirt with big moments. In the end, everyone's left with an immutable fact: it's only a .500 ball club. When the Marlins left Chicago last Monday, the ...

CHICAGO — There are many things that Chicago is famous for: hot dogs, deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches and the Chicago Cubs. What do all these things have in common? They all get devoured on a daily basis. The Florida Marlins took a five-game winning streak to Chicago this past weekend, looking to build upon the momentum the team had gained prior to the All-Star break. The Marlins...

Trade Deadline Options for the Marlins
Posted on 11 Jul 2011 by Jon Melton.
The next two weeks are crucial for the Marlins. How the team performs in its first few games after the All-Star break will determine whether the Fish will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Eleven of the team's 17 games before the trade deadline will be played on the road. The Marlins start the second half with a four-game set against the Cubs in Chicago beginning on Thursday and will ...
