Scoring Ryan Braun’s Rumble
Posted on 28 Feb 2012 by Steven Keys.
Ryan Braun may’ve won the latest round in his fight with Baseball and anti-dopers over a suspicious urine sample but the final bell hasn’t yet rung on this slugfest. Here’s a round-by-round scorecard of the burgeoning brawl that began last fall. Round One: Major League Baseball (1-0). Braun’s 2011 October urine sample threw-up a big red flag. His testosterone reading was off the charts,...

Brewers Shut Down Diamondbacks in Game 1
Posted on 2 Oct 2011 by Matthew Hesse.
The Diamondbacks were silenced in Game 1 in Milwaukee. The Brewers went on to win 4-1 behind an amazing game behind Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo pitched 8 strong innings striking out nine batters and only allowing 4 hits. Ryan Roberts was able to hit a home run in the 8th inning but it was not enough. Behind the Milwaukee offense Gallardo had enough breathing room to pitch the way he needed ...

Beer, Big Macs & Brew Separation
Posted on 6 Aug 2011 by Steven Keys.
Separation. It’s the word on every manager’s mind come August. Get ten games over .500, win 3 outta’ 4 series and start building a lead. Reach your benchmarks and the competition won’t even matter. You’ll get separation. First year Brewers’ Manager Ron Roenicke is getting some divisional disconnect this week after going head-to-head with the only other contender in the NL Central, t...

Barry’s Joy…Bud Selig’s Relief
Posted on 18 Apr 2011 by Steven Keys.
On the outside he remained stoic as the verdict was being read in his criminal trial on Wednesday. On the inside, Barry Bonds was the happiest man on the continent. Once on the courthouse steps his head swelled another hat size as the joy percolated to the top of his cranium, forcing a broad smile across his face while he flashed the victory sign. The second happiest man on the landmass: ba...

Lucroy Returns As Brewers Win Again
Posted on 13 Apr 2011 by Scott Johnston.
Welcome back Jonathan Lucroy! The Brewers catcher broke his pinkie finger way back in February and made his season debut tonight in Pittsburgh. In a scoreless tie in the top of the 6th inning, Lucroy led off with a double and scored he game’s first run on a Carlos Gomez sacrifice fly. Two batters later, Prince Fielder hit a 3-run homer, and the scoreless duel between Shawn Marcum and the Pira...

Brewers Back To .500
Posted on 10 Apr 2011 by Scott Johnston.
When you start the season 0-4, you take things one thing at a time. I know that’s cliché, but you really do want to win four games in one, and that’s not possible. You have to win, and then win again, and keep it up until you right the ship. Today, Casey McGehee righted the ship, and got the Brewers back to .500 with one swing of the bat. A 2-run shot off the Cubs Kerry Wood in the bottom ...

Brewers Win 3rd In Row
Posted on 7 Apr 2011 by Scott Johnston.
As former Reds great Barry Larkin said tonight in regards to the Brewers 3rd straight win, a 4-2 victory over the Braves, “It’s about pitching and it’s about offense.” Yes, I think we call that winning baseball. The Brewers Shawn Marcum provided another strong start today for Milwaukee allowing just two runs in 6 innings, and for the 2nd straight day, the bullpen made it hold up by thro...

Brewers Make It Two Straight
Posted on 7 Apr 2011 by Scott Johnston.
A night after the Brewers got their first win of the season, they made it two in a row, with another 1-run win over the Atlanta Braves, 5-4. And just like last night’s win, this one was a nail-biter to the final out. Marco Estrada got the start for the Brew Crew filling in for an injured Zach Greinke and did just well enough to garner the first win of his major league career. Called up earlie...

Gallardo Dominate As Brewers Get First Win
Posted on 5 Apr 2011 by Scott Johnston.
Yovani Gallardo spun a 2-hitter and scored the games only run as the Milwaukee Brewers finally got their first win of the season, beating the Atlanta Braves, 1-0 at Miller Park. Gallardo was in complete control the entire night, as he faced jut one over the minimum in tossing the complete game gem. In the first inning, Nate McLouth hit a one out single, but was erased on a Chipper Jones double ...

Brewers, Once Healthy, Looking To Win In 2011
Posted on 31 Mar 2011 by Scott Johnston.
Ready or not, Opening Day is here. For the Brewers, they could probably wait another week or two to get all their guys healthy, but the clock has ticked down to zero and it’s time to Play Ball. Things got off to a difficult start for the Brew Crew early in camp. Within days of each other, All-Star outfielder Corey Hart strained his left oblique, and then catcher Jonathan LuCroy broke his righ...

2011 MLB Preview: Looking at Ryan Braun and the Milwaukee Brewers on Paper
Posted on 29 Mar 2011 by Adrian Fedkiw.
For the last five seasons, the Brewers have always had a dangerous lineup, but the pitching hasn't always been there. They went out and traded for Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum. To go along with Yovani Gallardo and Randy Wolf, Milwaukee has one of the better rotations in the National League. The Brewers made the postseason in 2008 because they went out and got CC Sabathia before the trade d...

“The Greatest” Visits The Brewers
Posted on 10 Mar 2011 by Scott Johnston.
He’s simply known as “The Greatest.” And with that, one knows right away who the center of attention is. Muhammad Ali was always the center of attention, even in defeat. And today, while visiting the Milwaukee Brewers in Phoenix, AZ, despite being crippled by the disabling effects of Parkinson’s Disease, Ali is still at the center of attention. “His presence is just something that’s...
