Capps Nursing Sore Shoulder
Posted on 26 Jun 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
The Twins placed Matt Capps on the 15 day DL due to some shoulder inflammation that's been bothering him. “Nobody wants to go on the DL. That's kind of a no-brainer,” Capps said before Monday's game at Target Field. “This is my job. I don't want to be sitting around. I don't want to watch my teammates out there on the field. Sometimes this is what it takes to get right. I'm no...

Ex-Twins Are Making It Just Fine
Posted on 7 Jun 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
The Twins have the night off tonight, so I thought use this blog post to take a look at a few of the ex-Twins that are still in the league and see….how are they doing now that we've let them go? Torii Hunter: he has been in the league for 13 years and is starting to show his age. He's batting only .238 with 6 homers and 16 RBI. Of course there's been the off-field drama caused by hi...

Twins Select Byron Buxton #2
Posted on 4 Jun 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
For the #2 pick overall in the 2012 Amateur draft, the Minnesota Twins selected OF Byron Buxton. The Twins said they had their eye on Buxton since last summer and they like that he's an athletic, 5 tool player. Being that Minnesota desperately needs pitching, it was rumored that they would select RHP Mark Appel from Stanford, but the Twins said they wanted to go with the best player availab...

Exercise in Futility

The Minnesota Twins need a win….badly! The problem is, so do the Oakland A's. Both teams are undergoing the types of losing skids that makes them almost unwatchable. The good news for the A's and the Twins is that regardless of how awful they've been playing, one team will emerge victorious and end their losing streaks. The A's and the Twins have each lost 5 in row and the skid will...

Complete Game!
Posted on 23 May 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
The past couple of years have been a struggle for P.J. Walters. He spent most of that time in the minors with brief stints in the Majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and then with the Toronto Blue Jays. Over that span he started all of 4 games posting an ERA of around 8.00. In 2012 he got another shot, this time with the Minnesota Twins and their questionable pitching staff. Walters went ...

Back to reality

The Minnesota Twins got a beat down yesterday at Miller Park, losing to the Brewers 16-4. It was so bad that back up catcher Drew Butera had to come in and pitch the 8th. But enough about that mess. They get a much needed day off today, so I thought I would take this opportunity to list the top 10 prospects in the Twins farm system and their 2012 stats. Enjoy! 1. Miguel Sano, 3b/ss ...

A Nice Win
Posted on 16 May 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
The Minnesota Twins used a committee of pitchers and scored the most runs they have all season to pick up an 11-7 victory over the Tigers tonight. Nick Blackburn lasted only 2 innings after being shelled for 6 runs on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2 and Rick Porcello didn't fare much better, giving up 6 runs (2 earned) in 4 innings. But, for once, the Twins used their sticks to ma...

Marquis Matchup

The Blue Jays are coming to town tonight to take on the tumbling Twins. Tumbling into the abyss that is. The Minnesota Twins are bottom of the pack in the American League in terms of team batting average (.231, #11), runs scored (102, #14, 3.4 runs per game), hits (237, #13) and home runs (18, #14) — just a note, Josh Hamilton for the Texas Rangers already has 14 home runs. As far as ...

Twins Shake Things Up
Posted on 10 May 2012 by Mike Schlottman.
Last night after the game against the Angels, the Minnesota Twins made a couple significant roster moves to change things up a little bit. They sent third baseman Danny Valencia down to AAA and moved lefty starting pitcher Francisco Liriano to the bullpen. More than likely, the Valencia move will put utility infielder Jamie Carrol at third and Alexi Casilla back at second. Valencia has been...
