How Do The Champs Rebound After A Sweep
Posted on 19 May 2012 by Max Barton.
The Mavericks started the season with a different supporting cast, letting key players from the title run walk out the door. With the additions of Vince Carter, Delonte West, and most notably the acquisition of Lamar Odom, this team looked capable of defending their title. Dallas still had the core of Dirk, Jet, Marion and Kidd, a roster on paper, which looked like a nice team that was trying t...

Lamar Odom Has To Go
Posted on 28 Mar 2012 by Max Barton.
Shawn Marion should be in talks for Defensive Player of The Year, the only small forward to ever win the award was Ron Artest in 2003-04 for the Pacers. The coach of that Indiana team was, wait for it, Rick Carlisle. Seems that a second small forward has a chance to win this year, even though over the past couple of years it has been a big man award. Marion missed his third and final game due t...

Where Do We Go From Here?
Posted on 18 Mar 2012 by Max Barton.
The Mavs can make excuses about that latest stretch of games, nine in 12 days, but it is unacceptable for this team to go 2-7 with losses to four of the worst teams in the West. The schedule down the stretch isn’t as compact the rest of the way, but the Mavs have a tougher schedule the rest of the season playing 15 playoff teams, 10 in a row, in their final 21 games. Dallas returned home af...

Tough Stretch Ahead For The Old Guys
Posted on 29 Feb 2012 by Max Barton.
When this delayed season finally started, no one gave the Mavericks the respect they deserved for being the champs, or at least that’s the case according the Shawn Marion. Everyone, but Maverick fans, had written them off before they even had a chance to prove themselves, “they had a lucky run last year” or “they cant do it again”, are just some of the statements that have been made. ...

Mavericks Biggest X Factor
Posted on 9 Feb 2012 by Max Barton.
When any teams superstar is not playing up to their potential, it becomes extremely difficult for that team to be successful. With that said, every great super star has had a sidekick to pick up the slack. Some of the NBA’s greatest have had help, for example, Jordan and Pippen, Kobe and Shaq, Duncan and Robinson, Stockton and Malone, Magic and Kareem, and the list goes on. This year the Ma...

Western Conference Finals Rematch Pt. 3
Posted on 1 Feb 2012 by Max Barton.
The Dallas Mavericks take on the best team in the western conference, record wise, the Oklahoma City Thunder at the American Airlines Center Wednesday night. Oklahoma City brings their third ranked offense to Dallas for the third matchup this season and look to establish themselves as an NBA elite team. Defeating the Mavericks would help make that case. Oklahoma City was defeated Monday n...

Jason Kidd Needs To Be Benched
Posted on 25 Jan 2012 by Max Barton.
Let me explain Mavs fans, Kidd has not played up to his potential so far this season. His numbers have been so horrific that it literally hurts to watch him run the point. January has not been kind to Kidd who is averaging a staggering two points a game while shooting 19% from the floor this month. He has made only four baskets inside the three-point line. Kidd used to be successful when he wou...

Mavs Handle Suns Thanks To Marion
Posted on 24 Jan 2012 by Max Barton.
The Dallas Mavericks hosted the Phoenix Suns Monday night without Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter, who are both nursing injuries. One would think scoring would be hard to come by for the 22nd ranked offense, but the Mavs proved that wasn’t the case at all. Marion stepped up big and had a fantastic night scoring from all over the floor. Marion was 11 of 21 from the floor and 4 of 6 f...

Raise the Banner…
Posted on 27 Dec 2011 by Andy R Strom.
Christmas day had finally arrived and with that family, food, presents and the Opening day of the 2011-2012 NBA season. For the Mavs this was their 31st season opener, but very unlike the previous 30. This particular season opener was accompanied by a banner raising…a championship banner raising. I’m man enough to admit that I did tear up. I have been waiting my whole life to witness such a...

2011 NBA Champions
Posted on 14 Jun 2011 by Andy R Strom.
I could read that title for days…and I may never come out of this haze. The Dallas Mavericks entered game 6 with a 3-2 lead in the series and a chance to take home the Larry O’Brien Trophy. I knew that this Mavs team would step on their throats in game 6, knowing that the savvy veteran laden Mavs wanted to have to play a game 7 in Miami. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the start of this ...

Mavs in Good Position After Game 5, Look to End Series in Game 6
Posted on 12 Jun 2011 by Andy R Strom.
Don’t call it a comeback in game 5. Call it routine, call it a playback, whatever you want to call it in the end we call it a win. The Mavs came from behind closing another game out strong for the W. The Mavs and Heat entered game 5 tied at 2 games a piece, making game 5 a huge game. The Mavs would be without the services of Brenden Haywood again as he is still bothered by a hip flexor issue....

Comeback Kids Fall Short in Game 3
Posted on 7 Jun 2011 by Andy R Strom.
Game 3 felt a lot like game 2 except that the Mavs fell 2 points short of the Heat. Dallas did cut down on the turnovers and rebounded better than in game 2, but it wasn’t enough to get the win. The Mavs played from behind most of the game again and went on one of their 4th quarter comebacks that we are so accustomed to by now. The absence of Haywood was a big blow to the Mavs defensive and r...
