I will be the first person to admit that I turned my TV off after the Nets started 1-12 from the field. I was sitting here counting down the days until Deron Williams can leave the Nets because I just flat out felt bad for him. I decided eh, why not check in and I see the Nets are down 21. Now I was thinking about how well Jared Sullinger would look up front with Brook Lopez and I kind of got excited. But then the Nets showed some resilience? A 16-2 run to cut it to seven? I felt like a 16 year old girl the way my emotions were fluttering. Even following a 12-0 run byWashingtonto end the third and enter the fourth quarter, the Nets still fought back to win the game. Is this a sign of things to come?

After the dismal preseason, I must say the Nets looked surprisingly good tonight even without Brook Lopez.

Coming into the game I had a few questions that I felt needed to be answered if the Nets were going to win this game.

Who would win the matchup of point guards?

That question was emphatically answered by Deron Williams who went for 23, 8 & 8 against Wall’s 13, 8 & 6. But this match up was not even close. Deron Williams took over the game when he needed to and got to the rim at will. He also added four three-pointers and was without a doubt the best player on the court when the flight landed the other day.

The other question I had was how will the Nets play in the front court without Lopez?

Now Petro didn’t do THAT bad of a job in the middle. Granted he does not have the jumping ability to stay with a guy like JaVale McGee, he did a pretty solid job of holding down the paint with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Now if Petro takes another shot under one minute remaining in the game, I think I will have a conniption. I don’t know who he thinks he is but never again.

I am riding the honesty train tonight and I had Kris Kardashian written but Kris Humphries deserved to be called by his actual name (for tonight at least). He had 21 points and 16 rebounds. He heard boos from the fans but apparently the Wizards only sell 100 level seats so no upper level support. He went out there and shut them and all of the critics up (for tonight at least).

Now for the negative spot: The bench. Period. Done. End.

According to ESPN: The starters for the Nets had a +/- of the following: Williams +22, James +13, Humphries +24, Petro +21 and Morrow + 13.

Again, bench sucked.

Nets hostAtlantaWednesday. We will see if this win was a fluke or a ray of light for the Nets.

With the second preseason loss in the books for the Nets, I think there is only one word to describe the basketball that we saw so far; U-G-L-Y.

A few good things that we can take away from the preseason:

1) Deron Williams is still one of the premiere PGs in the game. He can get in the paint at will (granted he was playing the Knicks who are horrendous on the defensive end).

2) Brook Lopez can still get his shot when he wants. His post up game is in the top tier of the NBA and he showed he can rebound on the offensive end too.

3) Damion James is a good young player. At 6-7 225, he shows a nice defensive game and can get to the rim too.

4) MarShon Brook sand Anthony Marrow will hit perimeter shots (eventually) that should open up lanes for Deron Williams and prevent double teams on Lopez.

Newly signed Kris Humphries got a nice warm welcome from the New York fans tonight. He got booed everytime he touched the ball as if he was sleeping with D’antoni’s wife. The fans even chanted “We want Humphries” in the closing minutes of the game. I have a gut feeling that the Knick faithful’s reaction is just the beginning of what is going to be a long season for Humphries. He just received a new one year, eight million dollar deal. Many people question as to why the Nets would give him that kind of money. What most people do not know is that Kris was one of only nine NBA players to average a double-double last year. He was in the same category as the likes of Kevin Love, Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin. I think that he deserves to get paid, since he apparently is not getting anything from the fiasco that was the Humphries-Kardashian “wedding”.

Another new Net that we haven’t seen yet is Shawne Williams. After seeing the three-point production that he gave the Knicks last year, he should be a good compliment to Williams’ penetrate and kick game.

As for a season outlook, have to be honest here, I see the Nets giving the Raptors a battle for fourth place in the Atlantic Division. The Knicks and Celtics are obviously going to be at the top of the division with Philadelphia not too far behind. NOW that can all change with the signing of some big center guy who plays down in Florida. If the Nets acquire him during the season (hopefully sooner than later), instantly they are up in the top of the division with New York and Boston. On the other hand, if Mikhail Prokhorov does not make a move for Howard, I do not see Williams staying past this season. So the Nets should try as hard as possible to get Dwight because they could see their all-world point guard walk away at the end of the season.

The Nets open their season Monday at Washington.

However, based on their play this year, Nets fans have plenty of hope as the team prepares to move to Brooklyn after next season.

While the wins didn’t pile up, there were a few positives this year. New head coach Avery Johnson preached the importance of playing a complete game, which the Nets will look to improve upon next season.

Power forward Kris Humphries had a breakout year, and Brook Lopez began to establish himself as a skilled NBA big man.

The team also welcomed All-Star point guard Deron Williams and expects big contributions from him next season.

The Nets played exciting basketball at times, which bodes well for next year.

Here are the top 10 games of the Nets 2010-2011 season.

10. Nets Win on Opening Night

Date: October 28, 2010

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 101, Pistons 98

The Nets jumped off to a good start an opening night victory over the Detroit Pistons.

After trailing by six points at halftime, the Nets put together back-to-back 31 point quarters. However, the Nets still were down by seven with 1:40 remaining.

New Jersey chipped away, and relied on a clutch three-pointer from Anthony Morrow with 26 seconds left to put the Nets ahead to stay.

Brook Lopez led the way with 25 points, while Devin Harris added 22. Though the Pistons had seven players in double-figures, the Nets got timely bench points from Jordan Farmar and Terrence Williams.

New Jersey’s first-round draft pick, Derrick Favors, made his NBA debut in this game and scored eight points with 10 rebounds.

After losing their first 18 games of the 2009-2010 season, the Nets were happy to gave earned their first win in just their first game.

9. Rare Road Win at Memphis

Date: December 21, 2010

Location: FedExForum, Memphis, TN

Score: Nets 101, Grizzlies 94

The Nets earned just their third road win of the season after they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies.

New Jersey shot 52.6 percent from the field, and held Memphis stars Rudy Gay and Zack Randolph to 8-of-29 shooting for 11 points apiece.

Brook Lopez knocked in a game-high 26 points, while recently acquired Sasha Vujacic scored 16 off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting.

Kris Humphries recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

The win concluded a streak in which the Nets won three out of four games.

8. Come-from-Behind Win over Portland

Date: November 28, 2010

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 96, Trail Blazers 96

With Kim Kardashian on hand, the Nets rallied from a three-quarter deficit to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers.

Devin Harris paced the Nets with 25 points and eight assists. New Jersey got great production from its three power forwards—Derrick Favors, Kris Humphries and Troy Murphy—who combined for 24 points and 14 rebounds.

The Nets were able to hang on late despite three Trail Blazers scoring 20-plus points. Wesley Matthews, Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25, 21 and 20 points, respectively.

This was a nice bounce-back win after the Nets were outscored by 16 points in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers the day before.

7. Deron Williams Nets Debut

Date: February 25, 2011

Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Score: Spurs 106, Nets 96

Though the Nets lost the game, Deron Williams’ Nets debut easily makes this list. The Nets battled with the NBA-best Spurs until San Antonio got hot in the third quarter.

New Jersey played with a renewed sense of energy to kick off the Deron Williams era. Williams developed a connection with his teammates, especially Kris Humphries.

However, the Spurs were too much for the Nets to handle. Manu Ginobili led all scorers with 26 points, while Tim Duncan and DeJaun Blair added 17 each.

After a slow start, Williams recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists. Anthony Morrow scored 25 points off the bench in the losing effort.

This game gave Nets fan a preview of what they should expect next season—more so the energy than the loss.

6. Defeat Melo at “The Rock”

Date: January 31, 2011

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 115, Nuggets 99

Three 30-plus point quarters led the Nets to a home victory over the Denver Nuggets.

At this time, the rumors surrounding Carmelo Anthony were swirling, so the Nets erected a poster board of the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn right outside the visitor’s locker room.

Anthony responded in a big way, scoring 37 points with nine rebounds in the loss.

Brook Lopez scored 27 points, while Devin Harris dished out 18 assists.

Travis Outlaw had one of his best games as a Net with 21 points on 8-of-14 from the field. Anthony Morrow had the hot hand all night and finished with 18 points on 6-of-6 shooting—4-of-4 from three-point range.

This win proved to Melo that the Nets have depth. Hopefully, New Jersey can use this depth to defeat Melo more often now that he’s a New York Knick.

5. Win on the Road over Top-Seeded Celtics

Date: March 14, 2011

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 88, Celtics 79

The Nets used a 13-1 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to earn a win over the Boston Celtics—the Eastern Conference leader at the time.

The win signified New Jersey’s fifth straight win.

Despite strong performances by Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Glen “Big Baby” Davis, the Nets held the rest of the Celtics in check, mainly Paul Pierce, who only scored seven points on 2-of-10 shooting.

The Nets had five players in double-figures, led by Brook Lopez’s 20 points. Kris Humphries recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Deron Williams added 16 points of his own. He drilled a crossover three-pointer with 35.6 seconds left that sealed the win and resulted in the most memorable fan reaction of the season

Though New Jersey went into a tailspin after this win, it was one of this season’s top games.

4. Triple-Overtime Loss to Thunder

Date: December 1, 2010

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Thunder 123, Nets 120

Though the Nets lost this triple-overtime battle to the Oklahoma City Thunder, this game had it all.

Following a first half that looked like the Thunder would blow the Nets out of the water, Anthony Morrow’s improbable three-pointer at the end of regulation sent the game to overtime.

However, Russell Westbrook took control in the overtime periods, making big shot after big shot. He was one assist shy of a triple-double—38 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists. Jeff Green added 37 points in the win.

Brook Lopez and Jordan Farmar scored 28 points each in over 50 minutes of play. Morrow finished with 25 points and shot 3-of-6 from behind the arch.

This would have been a big game for the Nets to win. New Jersey went on to lose the next six games.

3. Total Team Effort Against Utah

Date: January 19, 2011

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 103, Jazz 95

Following Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s announcement that New Jersey would no longer pursue Carmelo Anthony, the Nets gave a valiant effort to hang on for the win against the Utah Jazz.

A 21-5 first quarter run established a nice lead for the Nets, though the Jazz made things interesting late.

Seven Nets finished in double-figures, with Brook Lopez leading the way with 20 points.

Deron Williams scored 20 points and added 10 assists for the Jazz. Little did he know that he would be a Net just over a month later.

This win snapped a six-game losing streak, and gave Nets fans a preview of things to come with Williams.

2. Triple-Overtime Win in London

Date: March 5, 2011

Location: The O2 Arena, London

Score: Nets 137, Raptors 136

In the second game of the historic first-ever series in London, the Nets completed the sweep of the Toronto Raptors in this triple-overtime thriller.

Travis Outlaw had the hot hand late, scoring the final eight Nets points in the third overtime.

Brook Lopez starred on the European stage, scoring 34 points with 14 rebounds and eight blocks. Kris Humphries and Deron Williams also recorded double-doubles.

For the Raptors, Andrea Bargnani and DeMar DeRozan scored 35 and 30 points, respectively, in the losing cause. Bargnani had a chance to give Toronto the win, but his final jumper was off the mark.

The 137 points was the most the Nets scored in a game all season—albeit they did have three overtime periods.

New Jersey used its trip to London to start its five-game winning streak.

1. Nets Overcome 20-Point Deficit to Beat Clippers

Date: March 11, 2011

Location: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

Score: Nets 102, Clippers 98

The Nets were down 20 points midway through the second quarter in this one, which looked like it would snap the Nets three-game winning streak.

Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were putting on a “dunk-a-thon” early, and the Nets were without Deron Williams.

However, the team dug deep within themselves to fight back for the four-point win.

Travis Outlaw gave the team a jolt of energy after halftime when Avery Johnson inserted him into the starting lineup for the opening minutes. He scored eight straight points as the Nets were able to chip away at the lead.

Kris Humphries had a monster performance, with 19 points on a perfect 8-of-9 shooting and 20 rebounds. Brook Lopez and Jordan Farmar added 24 points each, though all of Farmar’s points came in the second half.

This was a great win because the Nets didn’t give up. Even without their superstar point guard, New Jersey found a way to keep its winning streak alive.

Despite some significant improvements this season, the New Jersey Nets are still a year or two away from figuring it all out on the court.

Though they led by 16 points in the first half, the Nets dropped a 120-116 heartbreaker to the cross-town rival New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

In Carmelo Anthony’s first game against the team that coveted him, he did not disappoint. Melo led all scorers with 39 points and added 10 rebounds to record the double-double.

Chauncey Billups quietly scored 33 points, while Amar’e Stoudemire poured in 23. The Knicks’ “big three” did most of the damage, as their next highest scorer was Toney Douglas with seven points.

Deron Williams returned to the lineup after missing the previous six games with a wrist injury. He scored 22 points—his new Nets career-high—and added eight rebounds and eight assists. However, he missed what would have been the game-tying shot with seconds to go in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Morrow, who eclipsed his season-high point total through just three quarters, had a big game, scoring 30 points and shooting 4-of-5 from three-point range. Brook Lopez scored 26 points, while Kris Humphries recorded his 29th double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

New Jersey established a double-digit lead early in the second quarter. Humphries had 11 rebounds within the first 17 minutes, and the Nets were playing with a passion and desire not seen since Williams last played.

The Nets scored 68 points in the first half, which is the most they’ve scored in a half all season.

The Knicks closed out the first half trailing by 10. Anthony, Stoudemire and Billups combined to score 50 of New York’s 58 first half points.

The Knicks had all the momentum early in the second half, as Anthony began to take over. A 10-0 run brought the Knicks to within one.

The Nets, however, answered with three-straight three-pointers—two from Williams and one from Morrow—to push the lead back to 10.

Anthony’s 20-point third quarter allowed the Knicks to close out the third quarter down only one.

The fourth quarter saw back-and-forth lead changes, but the Knicks established a five-point lead with just over six minutes to play.

Williams began taking over, as his three-point played tied the game at 107. The Nets pushed their lead to three, but Billups answered with three clutch free-throws to once again tie the score.

After a full minute of no scoring, Anthony drilled a pull-up jumper with 1:08 to go, giving the Knicks a two-point lead.

Down by two, the Nets opted not to foul with less than 30 seconds remaining. Though known for his great closing ability, Melo missed a jumper that would have iced the game, which left the Nets down two with 8.3 seconds to go.

However, New Jersey could not capitalize, as Williams missed a 15-footer. Billups made both free throws on the other end to quell the Nets’ hopes of a miraculous comeback.

Though they had a breakout offensive performance collectively, the Nets let a win slip right out of their hands.

New Jersey returns to the court Friday evening when it travels to Philadelphia to take on Andre Iguodala and the 76ers.

However, the New Jersey Nets did show some life, but ultimately fell to the Atlanta Hawks, 98-87, at Philips Arena.

Though they had lost 8-of-11 games, the Hawks clinched a playoff berth with the victory and have now made the playoffs four consecutive seasons.

Still without Deron Williams, the Nets lost their second straight game. Nets’ GM Billie King has announced that it is uncertain whether or not Williams will return this season.

This game appeared over in the opening minutes, as the Hawks used an early 19-0 run to establish a big lead. Atlanta opened a 28-point lead in the second quarter.

The Nets finished the first half with a season-low 31 points.

The Hawks extended the lead to 30 halfway through the third quarter. At that point, the Nets finally woke up and put together a solid effort to close the quarter.

New Jersey continued to chip away until they trailed by 10 after a 15-3 run with just over five minutes to play in the game.

However, Al Horford scored six straight points that crushed the Nets’ momentum and sealed Atlanta’s win. New Jersey’s effort proved too little too late

Anthony Morrow led all scorers with 25 points in the losing cause.

The Hawks meanwhile had five players in double figures, including Horford who recorded a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Josh Smith scored 22 points, and Jamal Crawford added 18 off the bench.

The Nets return home to “The Rock” on Tuesday to take on the Houston Rockets.

In a battle between a team that has recently seen its distant playoff hopes dwindle and another team that at one point lost 26 straight games, the New Jersey Nets fought to an exciting 98-94 overtime win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The Nets, who improved to 5-4 in overtime games this season, had six players in double figures, but were led by Kris Humphries. Humphries scored 18 points and ripped down a new career-high 23 rebounds to record the double-double.

In a game that saw a plethora of missed shots, Humphries was able to establish himself on the glass and give the Nets second, and sometimes third, opportunities. The Cavs shot just 37 percent from the field, while the Nets checked in at an even worse 34 percent.

Brook Lopez and Sasha Vujacic each scored 18 points, while Travis Outlaw added 17, including a few clutch baskets in overtime.

With Deron Williams still injured, Sundiata Gaines inactive and Ben Uzoh’s flight delayed due to weather, Jordan Farmar was the only true point guard on the active roster for this game. He responded in a big way by recording a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.

Ramon Sessions led the Cavs with 21 points in the losing effort. J.J. Hickson recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

The Cavs opened a three-point lead heading into halftime, but struggled with turnovers in the third quarter which allowed the Nets to keep the game close.

The game was tight heading into the final minutes, with the score knotted at 80. With less than a minute remaining, Anthony Parker drilled a shot from the top of the key to give the Cavs a two-point lead. However, Lopez answered right back after tipping home his own miss to send the game to overtime.

The Cavs committed some questionable fouls in overtime that gave the Nets free points at the foul line. Up by two with 3.2 seconds left, Farmar hit two free-throws to ice the game.

The Nets earned just their fifth road win of the season, but also snapped their four-game losing streak and five-game road losing streak.

New Jersey heads to Orlando to take on Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic Friday evening. The Nets will look to play out the final 12 games strong in hopes of building some momentum heading into the offseason.

The Pacers have now defeated the Nets seven consecutive times dating back to 2008. The Nets were without Deron Williams for the second game in a row.

Despite only scoring three points on 1-of-9 shooting in the first half, Pacers’ forward Danny Granger finished with 20 points, including a few big shots down the stretch.

The Pacers will retain their position as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with the victory.

Coming off a second half collapse against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, the Nets came out strong defensively, holding the Pacers to just 15 first quarter points. New Jersey led by as many as 12, but the Pacers cut the lead to four at halftime.

Indiana put together a 9-0 run early in the third quarter and established an eight-point lead at the end of three.

The Nets clawed back, but each time they did, Granger or Brandon Rush would hit a big shot to extend the Pacers’ lead.

New Jersey made their move late in the fourth quarter on the shoulders of Sasha Vujacic, who hit three three-pointers in the fourth.

The Nets found themselves down by just three with 13.5 seconds left. However, an ugly three-point attempt by Vujacic missed badly.

Darren Collision drilled both free-throws to reestablish a five-point lead. Sundiata Gaines answered right back with another three with 3.2 seconds remaining.

Once again, Collison hit both free-throws, which iced the game at that point. He recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 assists.

Roy Hibbert led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting.

Brook Lopez led the Nets with 20 points, which marks the 11th straight game he had scored 20 or more points.

Gaines posted a new career-high of 18 points in just 23 minutes. Even without Deron Williams, Nets’ point guards scored 32 points—18 from Gaines and 14 from Jordan Farmar.

The Nets travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers Wednesday evening. New Jersey will still be without Williams as the playoff push appears to be losing steam.

Despite a valiant fourth quarter comeback, the New Jersey Nets lost an 84-73 contest to the Chicago Bulls at the Prudential Center in Newark. It might have been their green jerseys—or in Joakim Noah’s case, green shoes—that allowed St. Patrick to favor Chicago in this one.

With a season-low 73 points, the Nets’ five-game winning streak comes to an end, while the Bulls have now won eight in a row and sit atop of the Eastern Conference standings.

In a battle between two elite point guards, Derrick Rose stepped up and scored 21 points. Deron Williams managed 11 assists for the Nets but only scored five points on 1-of-12 shooting.

The Bulls looked like they would run away with this game early. A 12-2 Chicago run closed out the first quarter, and the Bulls led by seven at half.

Chicago led by as many as 14 in the third quarter, but that did not stop the Nets from fighting back.

Travis Outlaw and Sasha Vujacic opened the fourth quarter with big baskets to close the deficit. New Jersey came all the way back to tie the game at 65 with just over five minutes remaining.

Back-and-forth lead changes and ties ensued down to the final minutes. However, the Bulls went on a 7-0 run capped off by a three-pointer by Kyle Korver that drove the final nail into the Nets’ coffin.

With Carlos Boozer still out with an injury and Noah limited due to flu-like symptoms, Chicago center Omer Asik picked up the slack on the boards. He recorded a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds as well as a few emphatic dunks.

Luol Deng added 19 points in the Bulls’ victory.

Brook Lopez led the Nets with 22 points. Kris Humphries recorded another double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

The Nets play their second of back-to-back games Friday night in Milwaukee against the Bucks. The Bucks are one of the teams the Nets will need to catch if New Jersey pulls off an improbable playoff run.

With Deron Williams back in the lineup after missing the last two games, the Nets battled to an 88-79 victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics at the Prudential Center in Newark.

The Nets are now the proud owners of a five-game winning streak. This is the first time that New Jersey has won five in a row since the 2007-2008 season.

The Nets avoided a season sweep at the hand of the Celtics and snapped Boston’s streak of nine straight wins against the Nets in New Jersey.

Kris Humphries continues his streak of breakout games. He recorded his seventh straight double-double and 23rd this season with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Williams added 16 points, nine assists and six rebounds. He also drilled the dagger three-pointer with 35.6 seconds remaining to cement New Jersey’s win.

Following a game in which they allowed a franchise low 56 points to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Celtics, especially Rajon Rondo, came out slow. However, a 14-0 Boston run closed out the first quarter with the Celtics up nine.

The Nets were able to keep the game within striking distance throughout the second quarter and only trailed by two at half.

A nine-point third quarter from Humphries played a role in giving the Nets the lead. Travis Outlaw began heating up from the outside, and back-to-back three pointers from Anthony Morrow and Sundiata Gaines closed out the third quarter with the Nets leading by six.

The Nets extended their lead to 12 early in the fourth. However, the Celtics showed why they are so tough. Boston cut the deficit down to two with two minutes to go.

A big hook shot from Brook Lopez and Williams’ three-pointer crushed Boston’s momentum and sealed the Nets 22nd win of the season.

Lopez finished with 20 points and has now scored at least 20 in seven straight games.

Glen “Big Baby” Davis posted a double-double off the bench for Boston with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ray Allen scored 19, while Kevin Garnett knocked in 18.

New Jersey has another tough task ahead of them Thursday night against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. The Nets will look to keep their winning streak alive as they try to make a late postseason push.

The Nets are 5.5 games behind the Indiana Pacers for the eighth seed with 17 games to play.

Usually every time Slam-Dunk champion Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers suits up, he’s the most dominant power forward on the court.

While Griffin was a dunking machine once again tonight, New Jersey Nets’ power forward Kris Humphries stole the show in the Nets 102-98 overtime victory in front of a sellout crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Humphries, who had a double-double through just two and a half quarters, finished with 19 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting and a career-high 20 rebounds.

The Nets have now won four straight games for the first time since the 2008-2009 season.

New Jersey actually looked terrible in the early going, shooting just 26 percent in the first quarter. The Clippers opened up a 20-point lead and looked to coasting to an easy victory.

However, Avery Johnson inserted Travis Outlaw in the second half, and he immediately gave the Nets an offensive boost. Possession by possession, the Nets were able to make up some ground and eventually take the lead.

After a scoreless first half filling in for Deron Williams, Jordan Farmar took his game to a new level down the stretch when the Nets needed it most. He hit three three-pointers in the fourth quarter in huge spots.

Farmar scored 13 of the final 16 Nets’ points in the fourth quarter.

Following back-and-forth lead changes late, Brook Lopez got the kind roll on a shot with 3.8 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Nets a one-point lead. Griffin was fouled attempting a monster dunk and only make 1-of-2 free throws, which sent the game to overtime.

Lopez and Farmar made big shots in overtime, allowing the Nets to cap off the comeback victory. Both these players scored 24 points on the night.

Griffin finished with 23 points and nine rebounds, marking the second straight game he failed to record a double-double. Chris Kaman had a double-double off the bench for Los Angeles, with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

The Nets will try to extend their winning streak to five as they take on the “Big Four” of the Boston Celtics Monday night in Newark. Williams will be back in action for New Jersey, though the Nets were 2-0 in his absence.
