B’s Close Strong, Beat Pittsburgh 7-4
Posted on 11 Nov 2010 by Matt Preston.
Some people would say I should consider myself lucky to get such an exciting contest to cover as I made my site debut. One that resulted in a dominating 7-4 Bruins win, no less. Sadly, if I get to stick around here long enough, you’ll come to find out that I am not the most optimistic guy in the world. The way I see it, tonight’s game was another example of what I’m beginning to feel is g...

Rask left singing the Blues
Posted on 7 Nov 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Tuukka Rask got a rare, early season start tonight for the Bruins. Unfortunately, every time he's seen action, the Bruins have lost – including tonight. In the other end, it was Jaroslav Halak for St. Louis. If not for the “all world” start by Tim Thomas, Halak would be getting all the October accolades for NHL goaltenders. Coming off a sloppy effort in Washington last night...

Tim Thomas meet Tiny Thompson
Posted on 31 Oct 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Last night in Ottawa, the Bruins continued to ride the hot hand of Tim Thomas. After winning the Vezina in 2008/09, Thomas quietly spent last year struggling with a hip injury that eventually dropped him on the depth chart behind Tuukka Rask. Going into the season, like every other year when the doubts were on him, Thomas has responded. He's responded like no Bruin goaltender since Cecil &...

Bruins win on Milt Schmidt’s big night
Posted on 29 Oct 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Whenever you have five NHL Hall of Famers in the building, it's always a good time when you respond. Having said that, the Bruins honored a lifelong Bruin tonight. Milt Schmidt signed his first professional contract seventy five years ago and with the exception on World War II – he's never left Boston. Bruin TV color man, Andy Brickley, co-hosted the ceremony along with President Cam Ne...

Tonight is Milt Schmidt night with a pre game ceremony honoring the long time Bruin. Schmidt did everything for the team from playing (1936-1955) all the way to holding the general managers duties. He won Cups as a player (1939 & 41) and when he was in the front office (1970 & 72) The #15 banner is down on the blue line at ice level. Uncle Milty had a hand in four of the Bruins five Sta...

After taking a vicious slash from Brandon Dubinsky last night, Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced tonight that Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk suffered a slight fracture to his left ulna (bone in forearm) in the first period of last night's game with the Rangers. He missed a shift but returned to finish the first period. He did not return for the rest of the game. Boychuk is expected to b...

Bruins Streak Is Over

The Rangers played a very good game tonight. They were intense, physical and they made their breaks tonight. For the first 12:37 of the game, they were the better than the Bruins. With hard work, comes good breaks and the Rangers three goals were all results of good breaks. The first goal of the night, Brandon Dubinsky's initial wrist shot from the left circle was saved by tough luck loser, Tu...

Rask v Lundqvist in the nets. Too bad Thomas isn't playing tonight. I would like to see him go after Avery like last year after Avery's “love tap” to Thomas' helmet Feel free to chime in with your comments if you are watching the game at home Starting lineups to follow

Bruins Special Teams Capital-ize
Posted on 22 Oct 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
Welcome back. After beating the Caps in Washington Tuesday night, our Boston Bruins finally made it home to open their forty game schedule at the TD Garden. As most NHL fans know and understand, when a team comes off of a long road trip, sometimes the good guys come out and play a stinker in their return to familiar surroundings. I wouldn't consider tonight's effort a stinker but for a good p...

Bruins toast Devils
Posted on 17 Oct 2010 by Jim Mulligan.
I posted this earlier today but I was told there are errors when the page gets called up.. Back on North American soil for almost a week, the Bruins had a light week of practice to get their bodies reaclimated to the Easter Time Zone. So what happens when a relatively fresh team goes up against a team playing it's third game in four nights? Add in the fact the Devils couldn't field ...

Back on North American soil for almost a week, the Bruins had a light week of practice to get their bodies reaclimated to the Easter Time Zone. So what happens when a relatively fresh team goes up against a team playing it's third game in four nights? Add in the fact the Devils couldn't field a full squad a couple nights ago due to some real bad handling (even worse than the Bruins?) of ...
