Posted on 1 Nov 2011 by Jon Melton.
SUNRISE, FL — Monday night was Halloween from the Bank Atlantic Center and the Atlanta Thrashers came to town dressed up like the Winnipeg Jets. Instead of being treated to a win against a division rival, the Panthers were tricked into believing that the Jets' equalizing goal in the third period was legit. It was the second last-minute goal that the Panthers have been victim to in the pas...

SUNRISE, FL – Last season the Tampa Bay Lightning accomplished quite a bit, getting within one game of the Stanley Cup Finals. One thing they couldn't do last season was beat the Florida Panthers, as the Panthers took five of six from their in-state rivals. Different season, same result. The Panthers won a thriller last night, winning 3-2 in the shootout in front of a very large and ver...

SUNRISE — With a lot of voids to fill on a barren roster, it was to no one’s surprise that the Panthers and GM Dave Tallon have been very busy in the first two days of free agency. GM Dale Tallon has seemingly taken a Billy Beane-like approach to filling out the Panthers' roster, bringing in some fresh young faces and also one pretty familiar one. Welcome back, Eddie. The Florida Pant...

Rebuilding Blocks: Tallon, Panthers Tag Huberdeau
Posted on 25 Jun 2011 by Jon Melton.
ST PAUL — When Dale Tallon announced his “blueprint” for rebuilding the Florida Panthers, most Panther fans were undoubtedly skeptical — and with good reason. The franchise hasn’t been to the playoffs in over 10 years and recent failures in the draft have made the future look bleak to most fans. That may have all changed Friday night. The 2011 NHL Draft kicked off from the X...

Posted on 1 Nov 2010 by Marvin Miller.
With only four forwards signed beyond this season, you have to think that the Panthers remake is well into the first stage. The cupboards are filling with prospects and some of them will be ready next season when all of these contracts run out. Vokoun has been the number one star of the beginning of the season, consistently holding them into games while being one of the stars on most games. ...

If you can’t beat him, send in one of your goons
Posted on 27 Oct 2010 by Marvin Miller.
Tomas Vokoun has been the best goalie in the NHL early in the season. With a 9.25 save percentage and a 2.14 GAA going into a game against the Maple Leafs, Scott Clemmensen got his chance to play goal to give the beleagered Vokoun a rest. Colton Orr, Toronto's enforcer (goon) took care of Clemmensen in the third period, with enough contact to at least warrant a penalty but the referees missed t...

Geriatric Line Does It
Posted on 15 Oct 2010 by Marvin Miller.
The first win of a season is always sweet… albeit against the lowly Calgary Flames. But we'll take a shutout anytime. DeBoer decided to shake things up and came up with the “Geriatric Line”, the three oldest players on the team, Stillman, Reasoner and Dvorak. Dvorak responded as the hero with two goals, while Matthias scored his first of the season. Vokoun recorded his firs...
