I'm going to keep this short and sweet and just touch on a few points that stick out after the first two games in the Kings vs. Sharks series. The Kings are under a different microscope from every other team in the league, so the observations are largely coming from a place of tempered expectations. However, the Kings in many ways have exceeded even regular expectations! (Only some snark in...

Today marks some mixed emotions for Kings fans, no doubt. The Kings have made the playoffs for consecutive years, which is a reason to be proud and excited. However, a lot of trepidation comes with the feat as well. With the Kings star center on the shelf, how will the team play? If it's anything like they did without him down the stretch, the series ahead won't be pretty. (more̷...

The Kings went from being the 4th team to clinch a seed in the West this season to a 7th seed heading into the post-season. Their fall from grace coincided pretty closely to the losses of top two scorers Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams. The Kings will have to make up for those losses with a full team effort against a really talented Sharks team. (more…)

The Kings became the 4th team in the Western Conference to lock up a playoff spot this season with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. The Kings currently sit 4th in the West, but over the next few games the whole layout of 4th through 8th can turn upside down. (more…)

The San Jose Sharks locked up another division title on Monday night, defeating the Kings 6-1. The Sharks are assured to enjoy a top 3 seed in this year's playoffs and the King will have to strive for 4th place if they want home advantage in the first round. (more…)

A few months ago I went hiking at Echo Mountain, which is just northeast of Los Angeles. The thing about hiking at Echo Mountain is there are basically no trees along the trail, which means no shade. In addition the trail is basically a thousand cutbacks, so every time you round a corner and think you're near the top, you realize you have another six dozen cutbacks to go. Couple that with...

The Kings passed their first test without Kopi at the helm, beating the Oilers 2-0 on Tuesday night. Granted, the Oilers aren't the toughest test for the Kings, but it was a solid win and something to build off of as they push for the end of the regular season. (more…)

First off, sorry for the prolonged absence. I was on a long vacation and definitely suffered from blogger withdrawal. Anyone who showed a remote interest in hockey I would prattle on to forever, so it's good to be back. There's a lot going on for the Kings right now, so I'd like to just touch on the few things that will be impacting the Kings… severely. (more…)

Dean Lombardi may have silenced the critics. At least for now. The Los Angeles Kings made a splash at the deadline, trading Colten Teubert, a 1st round pick in 2011, and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2012, per LAKingsInsider.com. (more…)

Marco Sturm was placed on waivers yesterday. Generally this means a team is trying to move a guy to the minors or simply take a chance that someone might want to snag him and free up their roster. I can't explain it any better than Quisp did at JFTC yesterday, so click the link to get all of the details. In broad strokes, Lombardi placed Sturm on waivers as a way of giving the team roster...

It's hard to argue with TSN's Bob McKenzie that this trade deadline is the most active it's been in years. Already, big name players like Mike Fisher, Craig Anderson, Tomas Kaberle, Erik Johnson, and James Neal have moved to new teams. Of course, with big names moving around and the Kings not involved, Lombardi has received criticism for his lack of activity. Lombardi has been accused of ...

I wrote an Early Trade Deadline Guide about a month ago and since then everything has absolutely, 100%… stayed the same. Rumors have come and gone, but the roster remains the same, for now. However, the Kings are still in the thick of the race and remain buyers come the deadline. If you're interested in the in-depth analysis of the Kings assets, check out the first link above. Aft...
