The Ottawa Senators won in dramatic fashion last night notching a 4-3 shootout win over the Carolina Hurricanes while officially clinching a playoff spot while extending their win streak to six games. It's the 12th in the last 13 years that the Sens will play in the post-season. Sens defensemen Erik Karlsson scored two goals, the second one with 8 seconds remaining to tie it up. His first g...

The Ottawa Senators defeated the Washington Capitals tonight 5-4 in overtime as Alex Kovalev snapped a post Olympic break goal-less drought by notching the OT winner. Ottawa extends their winning streak to five. The Sens were 3-1 against the Caps this year. Jason Spezza had a strong game as did his entire line. Spezza netted a pair of goals on the PP to go with two assists, while Pet...

Posted on 27 Mar 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The Ottawa Senators defeated the Buffalo Sabres once again Friday night, this time 4-2. The Sens have now won all five meetings with the Sabres this year and goaltender Brian Elliott is 8-0 in his career against Buffalo. Elliott stopped 41 of 43 shots in asserting himself as the teams number one goaltender as Ottawa gets ready for the playoffs. It truly is incredible how Ottawa seems to b...

Back to back shutouts for Ottawa……Carcillo is a fool!!
Posted on 23 Mar 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The Ottawa Senators defeated the Philadelphia Flyers tonight 2-0 and Brian Elliott earned back to back shutouts as Ottawa came out with 4 points the last two nights during a critical stretch of the season as they head into the playoffs. The Sens PK was outstanding in killing off a full two minute 5 on 3 late in the third period. On the flip side the Flyers PK was very solid tonight in killi...

Ottawa ends losing streak with dominating performance in Montreal
Posted on 22 Mar 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The Ottawa Senators ended their five game losing streak with a 2-0 win in Montreal. Finally a sixty minute effort from this Sens team that many fans had been pleading for the last ten days. Leading the way was goaltender Brian Elliott as he made key saves at crucial moments. This is something that has plagued the Sens and it was long overdue that a goaltender elevated their play. Ell...

Sens lose fifth straight…….the misery continues!!
Posted on 20 Mar 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The Ottawa Senators started the game strong and finished with a bang but it still wasn't enough as they fell 5-4 to the Dallas Stars this afternoon, extending their losing streak to five games. Unfortunately for Sens fans this team continues to play parts of games but doesn't seem to understand that it takes a 60 minute effort to win a game down the stretch drive. This is no longer the fi...

Sens continue to struggle in loss at Atlanta
Posted on 18 Mar 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The sense of urgency that Senators head coach Cory Clouston talked about three days ago has fallen on deaf ears after yet another embarrassing loss, this time in Atlanta, a 6-3 defeat. There is plenty of blame to go around but first and foremost the Sens aren't getting the goaltending necessary to make a run down the stretch. Brian Elliott was awful yet again allowing three goals in the thi...

Sens in downward spiral!!

The Toronto Maple Leafs walked into Ottawa tonight and left a victor yet again with a 4-1 win over the listless Senators. Now, I had to watch this game on TV, but I saw enough to be able to draw my own conclusions. First off, Ottawa would have eliminated Toronto from the playoffs with a win tonight over the Leafs. That never materialized and every player on the Sens roster should be embaras...

Sens dropped in Detroit/Big Sens Rumour/AHL affiliate changes coming
Posted on 14 Feb 2010 by Kevin Lee.
The Ottawa Senators didn't look crisp from the start last night as the Detroit Red Wings took full advantage of a shorthanded defense corps with 2 AHL call-ups on the blueline. The Wings scored twice on the powerplay in a 4-1 win over the red hot Senators. There were a few bright spots for Ottawa though, the line of Peter Regin, Alex Kovalev and the newly acquired Matt Cullen from the ...

Now, Ottawa is shooting for ten wins in a row at Buffalo tomorrow night to extend their franchise record win streak. Winning solves plenty of problems and all the trade talk during the Sens f...

The Ottawa Senators extended their season high win streak to seven games with a commanding 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils tonight at Scotiabank Place. In the process, Ottawa defeated the Devils for the first time this year after losing their three previous meetings with the Atlantic Division leaders. The Sens had lost 9 in a row to the Devils, extending over two and a half years of pla...

Sens continue to roll/Binghamton update

The Ottawa Senators have now won 4 straight games on the road and six in a row overall after a defensive battle in Beantown yesterday which saw Ottawa defeat Boston 2-1. During this win streak many players have elevated their game, naturally the usual gamebreakers have done their job but it has been the emergence of rookie forward Peter Regin that has impressed me the most. Regin has playe...
