Loch Ontario Monster? & Team Canada
Posted on 13 Apr 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
Toronto is trying to sign Swedish goalie Jonas Gustvasson. The 6'4 goalie is nicknamed the Monster. I wonder if it has something to do with his height? Gustavsson picked up 5 shutouts in 13 playoff games for Farjestad. The Dallas Stars are apparently also interested. However if The Monster wants to compete for a starting job, Toronto would be his best bet. I can't see the 24 year old ...

81 Down 1 To Go
Posted on 9 Apr 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
It was exactly six months ago that the Leafs opened up their season in Detroit with a triumphant win. Yadda, yadda, yadda, it’s April 9th and they have missed the playoffs for the fourth straight season. What’s next? The World Championships for quite a few Leafs including Ron Wilson who will coach the American team. Luke Schenn could be on Canada’s blue line, perhaps being p...

Leave it to “Bad Guy” Sean Avery to go to his wrestling handbook the day before Wrestlemania and what better stage then MSG. Avery went with the lumber to the back of the head of Tim Thomas (who looks like Vader) as a folding chair was unavailable. On the subject of Wrestlemania. Rickey Steamboat still has his A-Game, Piper is still hyper and Jimmy Snuka needs to call Frank Costanz...

Bozak Attack
Posted on 3 Apr 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
OK. I don’t get this NCAA free agency period. If these guys were that good wouldn’t they have been drafted? For the glass half full people, I guess they are late bloomers. The hype around Tyler Bozak was getting up there with Dallas’s favourite Fabian. Here’s what we know about the 23 year old, 165lb Bozak. He’s from Saskatchewan, automatically makes him a &ld...

Putting On The Foil
Posted on 31 Mar 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
The Maple Leafs have signed Christian Hanson, son of Dave, nephew of Jack, friend of Rudy. Hanson just finished his senior year at Notre Dame, where the 6'3 230lb centre had 31Pts in 37 games. Hanson will play with the Leafs this season, as early as tomorrow, but most likely on Friday or Saturday. Dave Hanson played for Ron Wilson's dad (Larry) in the CHL back in 77-78 for Kansas Cit...

Is Pogge Done?
Posted on 30 Mar 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
Justin Pogge is an RFA when the season ends, will he be back? Based on Saturday night and even Friday's game winner in Buffalo, I would have to say no. Pogge's had some chances this season with the big club to show that he is the man for next season, he hasn't dazzled. He's made six starts with the Leafs and has allowed 4 or more goals in 4 of the games, including 6 in 32 m...

Ingame Blog Tomorrow Night As Cujo Chases History
Posted on 26 Mar 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
Tomorrow night join me at 730pm in this very blog as we follow along the Sabres and the Leafs as Curtis Joseph tries to get closer to history. Joseph sits on 350 career losses, Gilles Meloche has the 2nd most losses all-time with 351 and then Gump Worlsey with the most at 352. Going by history, Leafs are always doomed in Buffalo on a Friday night. Since it's a Friday night, grab your favou...

Good For Gerber
Posted on 25 Mar 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
Not that I condone violence towards officials. But hell, what was Mike Leggo doing letting Brooks Laich shove Gerber into the net with his stick to tie the game. Did Laich even touch the puck? He got credit for the goal but he put his stick right into the lower section of Gerber and shoved him into the net. What is that? Since when is spearing the goalie to score allowed? Gerber going a little ...

Leafs and Isles
Posted on 10 Mar 2009 by Kevin Gibson.
Who's pumped about the Leafs/Isles game tonight? The Isles are hot on the road, as hot as a January wind chill in Yellowknife as they are 1-19-1 in their last 21 away from Uniondale scoring 2 or fewer goals in 15 of those contests. Toronto has scored 2G in their past 2 games, so I'm thinking 6-4 tonight. For who you ask? You'll have to check my blog around 10:30pm tonight to find...

I watched UFC 96 last night. You know what I love about the UFC, most entrance music lasts longer then the actual fight. I believe last night that only two matches went past the first round. It's a no non-sense way of taking care of business or TCB as Kramer would say. The trade deadline came and went, and then came again. There were 22 trades on Wednesday, 12 of them were announced after...
