Texas Toast! Redbirds On Brink of Elimination
Posted on 26 Oct 2011 by Chaz Ingram.
Maybe the Cardinals should have saved some of the 16 runs they scored against the Rangers in game 3 for the remaining games of the World Series. Since that explosion which now seem like eons ago the Cardinals have managed to score only 2 runs in the last 18 innings blowing quality starts by Edwin Jackson and ace Chris Carpenter. Rangers' relief pitcher Neftali Feliz and catcher Mike N...

Arrested Development. Rangers handcuff the Angels
Posted on 16 May 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
With any luck, the Angels could have swept the Texas Rangers, instead they lost 2 out of 3. They played the Rangers evenly, they just needed to catch a few breaks, which they didn't. Is Jered Weaver in a slump? It's hard to tell. For the 3rd straight time, Weaver went 6 innings. Against the Rangers, he gave up only 4 earned runs, but that pales in comparison to his 1st 6 starts when he went an ...

Yo Adrian, stop beating up the Angels
Posted on 19 Apr 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
The Angels foray into forst place lasted less than 24 hours. The Texas Rangers blistered the boys from LA or Anaheim, 7-1. Ironically, the Rangers were led by Adrian Beltre, who as a free agent signed with Texas instead of our Halos. Anyhow, Beltre showed the Angels what they are missing by going 2-4, including a home run and 3 RBI. everybody in the Texas lineup had a hit, except 1st baseman ...

O’s Drop Two to Claw and Antlers
Posted on 10 Apr 2011 by Sven Jenkins.
This weekend’s series between the Orioles and Rangers showcased two of the 1st place teams in the AL. Texas came to Baltimore with an undefeated record, while the O’s were sitting at 5-1. After Friday’s rainout, the teams met for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The story of Game One was the left arm of Zach Britton, who dealt his lethal sinker on the Rangers for 7 2/3 innings to get ...

2011 Red Sox Season Preview: They May Be The Best Team “On Paper” But They Still Have To Play The Game
Posted on 1 Apr 2011 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
It's been a brutal winter here in New England (it is snowing right now), but the sure way to get me out of hibernation is the Boston Red Sox. In fact the only good thing about this winter was the Red Sox off season. Unless you were living in a cave, you know the Red Sox won the off season war. Their blockbuster moves put them in the driver's seat of the entire league. They made two monster deal...

The Wells Deal: Sayonara $126 Million Man
Posted on 21 Jan 2011 by Ben Fisher.
Welcome to Toronto, Mike Napoli and (possibly) Juan Rivera. Mike, you will likely be our DH this year and Juan, you’ll get plenty of playing time in an outfield currently comprised of you, Travis Snider and Rajai Davis (yes, that’s it). Oh, and by the way, whatever you two can contribute this season is simply bonus since you guys have already helped us shed an albatross of a contract. In th...

Angels Striking out
Posted on 22 Dec 2010 by Bill Mahoney.
I’ve been waiting for the Angels to make some big moves before writing, but that didn’t happen. Now I am not denigrating the Angels' signing of left-handed relievers Hisinori Takahashi and Scott Downs. These two guys will make an impact on the back end of the Halos bullpen, but those were not the moves we expected. You know how I feel about Carl Crawford. Would have been nice to have h...

Angels in a Winter Wonder-land
Posted on 10 Dec 2010 by Bill Mahoney.
The Baseball Winter meetings are over and the Angels head home empty-handed. Before I get to the obvious, I will tell you that four American League teams did absolutely nothing in Orlando: Texas, Oakland, New York and, drum roll please, the Angels. Most think the Angels lost out on Carl Crawford. I am in the minority in thinking they didn’t. Hear me out. Crawford is a dynamic player, one tha...

MLB Shuffle – Free Agent Frenzy Begins
Posted on 7 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
Jayson Werth leads the free agent Class of 2011. What is he worth - and to whom? Which destination will be "Mannywood-adjacent" for 2011? The World Series has ended. 2010 is officially in the books. The Giants are champs and aside from some award nominations for MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, all MLB franchises have turned their eye to 2011. Who's going to be on the Free Agent mar...

The Red Sox Another Devasting Loss; Kevin Youkilis Out For The Season
Posted on 5 Aug 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
With the Red Sox lineup slowly nursing itself back to health, they suffered one of the biggest losses of the season. Kevin Youkilis went on the DL Tuesday, after suffering a torn adductor muscle in his right thumb in Monday night's game. He traveled to the Cleveland Clinic Wednesday and it was determined he will have season ending surgery Friday to repair him thumb. The Red Sox have battled inj...
