Angels pitching continues to stink up baseball
Posted on 20 Aug 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Is it time for Mike Butcher to refresh his resume? After this weekends debacle that saw his pitchers give 46 hits and 37 earned runs, it appears his pitchers have quit on him. Maybe they've quit on Scioscia, I don't know, but it sure looks like they quit on someone. On a positive note, at least the Halos played good defense the past 4 days. A few things chapped my ass this weekend. I'll give ...

O how nice to watch the Halos beat up Baltimore.
Posted on 28 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
So much for the Orioles stopping the Angels. The Halos crushed Baltimore at every turn in sweeping the 2-game set by scores of 7-3 & 13-1. For one of the few times this season, the Angels starting pitching could just sit back and laugh as they watched the Halos offense devour the O's staff. Where do I start. That's easy, let's start at the top with Mike Trout. The A.L.'s Leading hitter wen...

Fa la la la la..LAA takes the freeway series…again!!
Posted on 24 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
For the 6th straight year, the Angels didn't lose the Freeway series to the Dodgers. They have split the 6 games in the past half-dozen years, but they haven't lost one since 2006. The Angels won this years series 4 games to 2. I thought the Dodgers were gonna blow em out on Friday. They had 5 on the board before most people were even in the stadium. Dan Haren continues to look….well̷...

Angels are able to cut down the Giants, just not Cain
Posted on 21 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Has it really been 10 years since the Angels and Giants have played each other? It seem like yesterday that the Angels won their first World Series with an exciting 7 game series win over the guys from the Bay area. Both teams are completely different, but the intensity is still the same. Feel bad for Jerome Williams. The former Giant was excited to face his ex-team. By the 4th inning, he was ...

Did you know the Angels played the D’backs over the weekend?
Posted on 20 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Yes, I am super late in writing about the past Angels-Diamondbacks series. Considering they are playing the finale of the Giants series tonight, I missed the bus completely. On that note, this will be short. Went to Friday's game vs the snakes. All I remember is the Angels scoringzero runs. I also remember Dan Haren walking Miguel Montero to get to Aaron Hill with 2 men on in the 5th. Hill hit...

One Garrett returns, while another has just arrived
Posted on 7 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
I thought Garrett Anderson was done with baseball? That's what he told Bill McDonald a few years ago. I think he said he was tired of all the media, and pretty much everything that had to be with the game that made him a multi-millionaire. He couldn't wait to leave it all behind. Imagine my surprise when I saw Anderson on the Angels Live set next to Josa Mota and Michael Eaves. I wonder if h...

Angels drop 2 straight, but Trout continues to hit
Posted on 5 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
I didn't think for one instant that the Angels would sweep the Rangers, and they didn't. It was a fun game, if you're a Rangers fan. I'm just glad the Angels weren't no hit. Matt Harrison held the Angels hitless into the 5th inning. Mike Trout continues to hit everyone. 2 more hits for the budding Halos star. Let's see, John Hester did his first home run as an Angel. Pretty much it for the Ha...

Mark my words, the Angels are starting to find their rhythm
Posted on 31 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
The Angels are rising, so losing one doesn't hurt much. Is there anyone hotter than Mark Trumbo? The man should be pitched around. Thankfully the Yankees never got that memo as Trumbo went deep in all 3 games against the New Yorkers. Add in the one he hit during the last game in Seattle, and Trumbo has gone yard in the last 4 games. He is hitting .520 over his past 6 games. You know, I think ...

Mark one for the Angels
Posted on 29 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Oh man did my heart drop after watching Jered Weaver walk off the mound after just 12 pitches. I was feeling a bit better when it was announced that Weaver suffered a lower back injury. I hope that's all. It was nice to see Torii Hunter back in the dugout. He doesn't appear to have that little kick in his step, which is understandable. He had to be a bit happier after Mark Trumbo hit a walk o...

Angels on the mark, as they complete the sweep in Seattle
Posted on 29 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
With Albert Pujols and Alberto Callaspo finally being kept under control by the Mariners, someone else had to stand up for the Halos. Up steps Kendrys Morales and Mark Trumbo. Solo home runs for the 2 Angels sluggers helped the Halos complete the sweep of the M's. 4-2 was the final. Once again, I was way off. I said the Halos would be happy to get a split. I never envisioned a sweep. I think ...

Pujols is a 2-game hero, while Figgins is the game-2 goat
Posted on 26 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
The Angels wrote the perfect script in game 1 against the Mariners. Albert Puljols supplies the offense, and the starting pitching shuts down the opposition. Pujols had one of his most productive games since joining the team by getting 3 hits, including the 450th home run of his career, and a stolen base. Dan Haren did the rest. Haren struck out a career high 14 batters in pitching a complete ...

Extra, Extra Angels win the series in Oakland
Posted on 23 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Good news for the Halos. Torii Hunter is expected back during the Halos next home stand. Hunter has been on the restricted list while dealing with family issues. I'm sure you know what they are, so I'm not gonna regurgitate the details. It'll be nice for him, and the Angels when he is back in the lineup. Now to the game. Like I said, the Angels will take 2 of 3 in Oakland–haha. I expected...
