Kings Lucky Break
Posted on 2 Feb 2012 by Eric Cooney.
Just reading the summary of last night's Kings vs. Blue Jackets game you could tell that something special happened. Doughty scores the game winner with less than a second remaining in order to save his team from overtime?! Incredible. As it turns out, it may have been even more incredible than that. upon viewing the replay, it appears the game clock froze for a second and a half, which...

Chemistry Compromised?
Posted on 19 Jul 2011 by Eric Cooney.
It's fairly evident that the Kings made improvements through their off-season moves this summer. I will go further and qualify this with “on paper”, so as to not rile up anyone adamant that the Kings will still be worse than their favorite team next season. That said, the off-season additions have excited Kings fans and have us asking, “Is it October?” (more…)

The San Jose Sharks locked up another division title on Monday night, defeating the Kings 6-1. The Sharks are assured to enjoy a top 3 seed in this year's playoffs and the King will have to strive for 4th place if they want home advantage in the first round. (more…)

Brown, Lewis Push Kings Past Oil
Posted on 30 Mar 2011 by Eric Cooney.
The Kings passed their first test without Kopi at the helm, beating the Oilers 2-0 on Tuesday night. Granted, the Oilers aren't the toughest test for the Kings, but it was a solid win and something to build off of as they push for the end of the regular season. (more…)

The Kings of Late…
Posted on 11 Feb 2011 by Eric Cooney.
Let's dive right in… The Good… The Kings have points in their last 7 games with a record of 5-0-2. They have points in every game of their current road trip, going 2-0-2, with 6 games ahead on the road. The Bad… The Kings lost in overtime last night to the Penguins who were without Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Chris Kunitz, and Matt Cooke. Severely depleted would be an un...

Trade Rumors: From Fisher to Penner
Posted on 4 Feb 2011 by Eric Cooney.
The two names I've heard popping up the most recently that are linked to the Kings are Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators and Dustin Penner of the Edmonton Oilers. I have no idea if there is any truth behind the Kings's alleged interest in these guys, but I can analyze the possibility of a potential trade for these guys. (more…)

Smyth-tacular, Quick-tastic
Posted on 3 Feb 2011 by Eric Cooney.
Don't let Edmonton's record fool you. This isn't the Edmonton that we're used to since their epic run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006. That was the last time the Oilers were in the playoffs, but this team has some new energy. They look like they're a few pieces away from being a solid threat. Most of this is thanks to the draft where they've acquired guys like Hall, Eberle, and Paajarv...

Your (Early) Kings Trade Deadline Guide
Posted on 20 Jan 2011 by Eric Cooney.
The Kings are in a state of disrepair to a certain degree. It's not awful, although one might be inclined to feel that way with their recent set of losses. Yet, there is hope that the addition of 1 or 2 key pieces can change the Kings' fortunes, and if you're 1 or 2 pieces away from success, you're not in a terrible place. Whether or not those 1 or 2 pieces will actually fix anything is s...

Johnson Deal, Losing, All-Star Game…
Posted on 11 Jan 2011 by Eric Cooney.
It's just 11 days in and the month of January has been a busy one for the Kings. 2011 has not been kind to the Kings so far and with the All-Star break approaching fast, it's time for the Kings to start thinking about what needs to change. The dreaded possibility is that the question might actually be, “Who needs to change?” (more…)

Sharks Topped by Kings
Posted on 28 Dec 2010 by Alex Wasserstrom.
It's a good thing Antti Niemi decided to show up last night against the Kings because the rest of the Sharks surely did not. Outshot 30-14 over two periods, the Sharks were lucky the score was 0-0 at that point and you think that would be a wake-up call for the team to pull their heads out and play for their goaltender. It was not the case as the Sharks surrendered four 3rd period goals and g...
