The biggest question mark coming into this season had to be whether the Tigers could replace Curtis Granderson's athleticism and power. Rookie Austin Jackson has proved an apt leadoff man, leading the team in hits and stolen bases while currently tied with Johnny Damon for runs scored. The Tigers are somewhere in the air above the Midwest right now, en route to meet their division rival for the fourth time in the past week. As if Wednesday's fireworks and Thursday's matinee shutout of the Twins weren't convincing enough, this ravenous pride through in a sweep of the none-too-shabby Angels too. We forgot how good they are. The disappointment that comes with giving away a division championship on the last day — nay, the waning minutes — of the season spans the entire winter. I moped around the house for days to refrains of “it's just a game,” provided by a well-meaning and thoroughly annoyed wife. (more…)
