Ducks take Avalanche
Posted on 7 Feb 2013 by Tyler Hetu.
Well, it looks like the Anaheim Ducks have hit the jackpot in the free-agent market after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year. The acquisitions of defenseman Sheldon Souray, forward Daniel Winnik and goalie Viktor Fasth have played major roles in the Ducks' 7-1-1 start (the best in franchise history). All three players contributed to a 3-0 victory against the Colorado Avalanche ...

DET-3 PHX-2 F/SO The Detroit Red Wings were in Glendale Thursday night to face the slumping Coyotes. This must be one of Detroit’s favorite road trips. The weather is sunny and 70s, the crowd has a huge percentage of Red Wings fans, and they win. Detroit has now won 8 of their last 9 road games against Phoenix, including knocking the Coyotes out of the playoffs each of the last two sea...

Kings Rally, Beat Avs 4-2
Posted on 23 Sep 2010 by Eric Cooney.
The Kings faced off against a pretty strong Avs squad (at least by pre-season standards) and managed to shrug off a slow start to grab the comeback win. The Avalanche tallied in under 3 minutes, then again early in the 2nd to pull ahead by 2 goals. However, the Kings persistence paid off, netting them the last 4 goals in a row. (more…)

Wearing The Belt

Back to back division titles is something all Canuck fans should be very pleased with. Ignoring the other happenings and the potential to back into title with a Colorado loss, the Nucks took care of business with a 4-3 OT win over Minnesota. After so many years of inconsistency with the team from VanCity it's great to have a 3rd division title in 4 years and 4th in 6 years. Since AV took over...

Wow Miikka Wow!
Posted on 3 Apr 2010 by Shane Hoopfer.
I think the title says it all. Miikka Kiprusoff was outstanding last night in propelling the Calgary Flames into a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference after a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. This blog will be a touch shorter after my child tried to electrocute me last night! Nothing like a few million volts running through you to get your attention. At ...

Sprint to the Finish……….Again

All Blues As we sit right now, the Blues are six points out of a playoff spot and have a game at hand on 8th place Colorado. Had the Blues split the series with Colorado (they were swept with all four games lost in regulation), they would have 87 points and be sitting in 8th place. The margin for error has become so small that it’s not only going to take yet another late season miracle run li...

Avalanche Problem? Call Toskala!
Posted on 18 Mar 2010 by Shane Hoopfer.
The Calgary Flames marched into Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche in what was easily classified as a must win game for the Flames. In the previous four games between these two the Avalanche had won all four games by a score of 3-2. The Flames probably deserved to win three of those but Craig Anderson was stellar as he has been most of this season, so the task was daunting. Rene Bourque c...

Talking Trades (part 2 – Western Conference)
Posted on 3 Dec 2009 by Corey Krakower.
In part 2 of “Talking Trades”, the insanely close and wildly unpreditacble Western Conference is analyzed. Anaheim – There is some talk of Scott Niedermayer potentially being shopped if the Ducks continue to struggle. There is a good chance that he will retire at the end of this season, meaning the Ducks may try to deal him and his expiring contract to a contender in exchan...
