Wakka Flakka Fleury. Pens Lead Series 1-0
Posted on 13 Apr 2011 by Dustin Keener.
Marc-Andre Fleury was sensational. Simply put, he held off Tampa Bay long enough for Roloson to have a small breakdown. Fleury made some very big saves early in the game, and he kept making them until the final buzzer. Rupp had another solid game, and Kovy scored the first goal of the playoffs for the Pens. Aaron Asham had a wrap around that looked like it came from “The Mighty Ducks̶...

Tampa Bay Lightning Playoff Preview
Posted on 12 Apr 2011 by Christopher Tran.
The 2010-2011 regular season was one of up-and-downs for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Early in the season it looked as if the Lightning were going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Southeast Division and rest of the conference. However, instead of sprinting to the finish line, the Lightning sputtered like a car running out of gas in the last quarter of the season. The story of this upcomin...

Penguins: Pen’s Playoff Preview
Posted on 12 Apr 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
With all of the injuries that the Penguins have faced this year, not many people would have guessed a few months ago that they would even make the playoffs, let alone be seeded highly enough to have home-ice advantage in the first round. That is exactly the place the Pens find themselves in, as they get ready to square off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the 2011 Stanley...

Penguins: Is The Current Team Easier To Root For?
Posted on 26 Mar 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
As an American society, in all facets of life, we seem to always want a feel-good story. The American Dream of course, is to come from nothing to something, and to make a name for oneself. This is especially true when it comes to sports. Many examples have even turned into movies, including “Radio”, “The Miracle On Ice”, “Secretariat”, and “Rudy...

Penguins: Are The Fans Still Interested?
Posted on 5 Mar 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past two months, you know that the Pittsburgh Penguins have suffered some major setbacks in what started off as a great season with high expectations. Now, of course, injuries are a common thing that every team in every sport has to battle. The Super Bowl had a matchup of two of the more injury-depleted teams in the league and both were able ...

Penguins: C-ya Goligoski, Hello Neal and Niskanen

With the trading deadline coming closer and closer each day, there was debate as to whether or not Penguins general manager Ray Shero would make a move. On Monday, the debate came to an end as the Penguins shipped off young defenseman Alex Goligoski to the Dallas Stars for 23 year-old winger James Neal and 24 year-old defenseman Matt Niskanen. Many thought that Shero would hold off on mak...

Even with the NHL's top player sitting out and another key member of the team sidelined by injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins still had enough to skate past the New York Islanders 1-0 Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. With superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin sidelined, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury stepped up with 29 saves to lead the Pens to the win against a struggling Islanders squad. The Pittsbur...

B’s Close Strong, Beat Pittsburgh 7-4
Posted on 11 Nov 2010 by Matt Preston.
Some people would say I should consider myself lucky to get such an exciting contest to cover as I made my site debut. One that resulted in a dominating 7-4 Bruins win, no less. Sadly, if I get to stick around here long enough, you’ll come to find out that I am not the most optimistic guy in the world. The way I see it, tonight’s game was another example of what I’m beginning to feel is g...

WILL FOWLER BE A FOWL?
Posted on 21 Oct 2010 by KARLY TAMBARA.
Tonight’s game versus the Blue Jackets marked the first of a four game road trip that potentially (but not plausibly) could be Cam Fowler’s farewell tour. The 18 year old has two more games before the Ducks decide whether to keep him for the season or return him to his junior team. Drafted 12th overall in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the baby-faced dual citizen of America an...

Goalie Controversy in Pittsburgh??….Not so fast Pens fans
Posted on 16 Oct 2010 by Michael Waterloo.
In a City where winning is the only way to play, starting off at 2-3, including a 1-3 record in the brand new $321 million Consol Energy Center is anything but a solid start for the 2010 Pittsburgh Penguins. When a team with two of the top players in the world in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and has such high expectations starts off this poorly, someone has to take the blame. It won't be...
