Are the Canucks Now Canada’s Team?
Posted on 28 Apr 2011 by Kirk Butler.
Well folks, with Nathan Horton's second consecutive OT goal Montreal was eliminated from the playoffs last night. Their exit from the postseason leaves only one Canadian based team contending for Lord Stanely's Cup. At this time of the year most Canadian based hockey fans will now shift their attention and support to the Canuck's hoping that the Cup will venture North of the Border for the firs...

Vince Lombardi Trophy Going Home
Posted on 7 Feb 2011 by Norm Duhamel.
Super Bowl XLV is over and the Green Bay Packers are World Champions. They beat the 6 time Super Bowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 and prevented Ben Roethlisberger from getting his 3rd Super Bowl ring…..and I couldn't have been happier. I was a little off with my predicted score of 35-21 for the Packers but I was dead on with Aaron Rodgers winning MVP. He finished the day 24/39...

Talk About A Bad Day
Posted on 6 Jan 2011 by Shane Hoopfer.
Well I'll start off by touching on the World Junior Gold Medal Game. That is the type of game that just makes you sick as a fan. Up 3-0 after two periods I told a buddy “Ya their up but they look like they are running out of gas, but I'd imagine they'll be fine in the third” boy was I wrong. Collapse was the right word because the boys did just that giving up five goals in the third...

The Blue Jackets Börja säsongen i Sverige (The Blue Jackets Begin the Season in Sweden)
Posted on 4 Oct 2010 by Jason Wagensveld.
The Blue Jackets are set to begin their season in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday night against the San Jose Sharks. They will first play an exhibition game against a mix of two Swedish teams, Malmo Redhawks and Rogle BK on Wednesday night. I have mixed feelings about NHL teams beginning their season in Europe. I understand the benefits of obtaining greater exposure of the game. Playing in ...

Hamilton/Southern Ontario Will Not Get A Team Anytime Soon!
Posted on 16 Apr 2010 by Shane Hoopfer.
I know that isn't much of a shock to most pessimists but I was not one of them. Until last night! As I sat on the lazyboy getting ready to enjoy another fine evening of hockey, I flipped on CBC to find something that surprised me. The Montreal and Washington series wasn't on the CBC! It was over on TSN. Now that struck me as odd as I am pretty sure that the CBC has dibs on series' involving Can...

Canada Beats Slovakia, Rematch vs. USA
Posted on 27 Feb 2010 by Eric Cooney.
Canada leapt to a 3-0 lead against a tough Slovakian team and managed to squeak out a 3-2 win, sealing a rematch against team USA for the Gold. The home team held off a furious blitz from the Slovakians in the third period to earn a shot at regaining Olympic glory. Despite being lauded as the strongest team heading into the tournament, the Canadians haven't exactly had an easy time in Va...

Own the Podium? More like Own the Russians!
Posted on 25 Feb 2010 by Corey Krakower.
In a performance that can only be described as epic, the ice hockey team fielded by Canada finally came together and put on a show similar to what people see when they watch the Harlem Globetrotters dominate the Washington Generals. After a very mediocre preliminary round that had many including myself questioning goaltending, speed on defense and intensity up front, Team Canada answered all of...

USA Defeats Canada 5-3
Posted on 21 Feb 2010 by Kevin Freiheit.
Just 41 seconds into the game, the U.S. jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. Brian Rafalski took the shot that beat Martin Brodeur for the first goal of the game. The U.S. then got the first power play opportunity of the game when Ryan Getzlaf interfered with goaltender Miller. After killing off the penalty, the Canadians had their first try with the man advantage. Canada tied up the game with a goa...

USA/Canada Live Blog
Posted on 21 Feb 2010 by Kevin Freiheit.
Hello everybody, I will be doing a live blog for tonight's game between USA and Canada. Be sure to check back during the game and let me know your thoughts. This is arguably the most anticipated matchup of the preliminary rounds. A three point win for the Americans would give them a first round bye into the quarterfinals. This game comes down to a lot more than just seeding. A win for...

Canada takes care of business against Norway
Posted on 17 Feb 2010 by Scott Pattison.
Sure, it’s only Norway, but for Canadian hockey fans, a country that places priority on little else when the puck drops, tonight’s opening 8-0 shutout by their Men’s Olympic Hockey Team, is a step in the right direction to erasing the embarrassment that was Turin. Domination – pure and simple. Canadians may not be diagnosed with the fever quite yet – but the 2010...
