Giants Win With Torres Walk Off Single and Avoid Phillies Sweep
Posted on 8 May 2013 by Daniel Trucios.
Despite a blown save in the 9th inning by Sergio Romo, the Giants would survive and manage to win in extras. It would be Andres Torres coming through in the bottom of the 10th with runners on the corners and 2 outs. Torres whacked a single to right field off of Antonio Bastardo of the Phillies to score in Buster Posey from third for a 4-3 walk off win. The San Francisco Giants (20-14) manage to...

Verlander tosses CG to get first win
Posted on 17 Apr 2012 by Brett Decker.
Justin Verlander had an interesting outing tonight against the Royals and Danny Duffy. Justin started out losing his no-hitter on the first batter (which is not very common for Justin) Alex Gordon who laced a double down the line. Then Chris Getz did what all real #2 hitters should do (pay attention Leyland) and sac bunted Gordon to third. Then Verlander pitched around the Royals young stud 1...

Delmon Young Traded to Tigers
Posted on 15 Aug 2011 by Jonathan Fawkes.
On a day when Delmon Young was traded to the Tigers after a disappointing 2011 season, Jim Thome put the that story to shame by launching his 599th and 600th home runs en route to a much needed Twins victory over the Tigers. It is seeminly impossible to find a negative story about Jim Thome, who is heralded as a genuine class act and regarded as one of the nicest people in all of baseball. T...

Twins Welcome Back Denard Span
Posted on 1 Aug 2011 by Jonathan Fawkes.
The Twins were very quiet at the trade deadline because according to GM Bill Smith, “I'd rather make no deal than a bad deal.” While this is an inarguable point the Twins are a team with a surplus of outfielders with Delmon Young, Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel, Ben Revere and Denard Span. Luckily Cuddyer can play first while Justin Morneau is still rehabbing from his neck surgery and...

Twins Finish Homestand At 6-6
Posted on 25 Jul 2011 by Jonathan Fawkes.
The Twins entered a 12 game homestand agaisnt their AL Central opponents 6.5 games back from the Tigers and finished it 7 games back. They took 3 out of 4 from the Royals, split 4 games with the Indians, and dropped 3 out of 4 to the Tigers. For a homestand where starting pitching was not particularly strong and the Twins could muster only 3.4 runs per game it could have gone much worse. I'm ...

Why The Twins Will Win The AL Central
Posted on 12 Jul 2011 by Jonathan Fawkes.
The Twins 2011 season has been a disappointment for the most part, but they have played well enough in June and July so that they now sit just 6.5 games back of Detroit at the All-Star Break. For a season recap check out my previous article which illustrates how injuries have plagued the Twins 2011 season. I believe that the Twins will ultimately be involved in another close race in the AL Ce...

From 94-68 to 35-45: What Happened? (2011 Twins Recap)
Posted on 2 Jul 2011 by Jonathan Fawkes.
Following an impressive 94-win season in their first year at Target Field the Minnesota Twins were able to capture their 6th AL Central title in 9 years under Ron Gardenhire. Although it led to yet another first round defeat at the hands of the Evil Empire, expectations remained high surrounding a 2011 Twins team bringing back its most important franchise pieces along with a reconstructed ...

The “Young” and the Restless
Posted on 30 Jun 2010 by Trevor Stewart.
Every soap opera is the same; good-looking people who always find drama. The married brother admits to his best friend, (who is actually his half-brother, but we won't find that out until a few seasons down the road) that he is sleeping with his wife because she “gets him,” and “they connect.” He wishes it could be different, but he cannot hide his true feelings. He admi...
