From The Stretch: NL All-Star Picks
Posted on 21 Jun 2012 by Connor Callaghan.
Last week I came up with a list of who I thought deserved to be in the All-Star Game for the American League which you can find here: http://www.prosportsblogging.com/2012/06/15/from-the-stretch-al-all-star-picks/. Now it's time for the National League: Catcher, Buster Posey, Giants: The former Rookie of the Year winner adds a little star power and raw hitting power that Yadier Molina and Car...

While the Angels are seeing red, Abreu searches for bluer skies
Posted on 5 May 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
So let me get this right, Bobby Abreu was upset at his lack of playing time with the Angels? Tired of hearing his complaints, the Angels finally let the guy go. So what does Abreu do? He signs with the Dodgers as a backup outfielder. Did they add a DH in the National League? And where will Abreu play, exactly. Can't see him replacing Ethier or Kemp, so that eliminates right and center. I gue...

WOW!!!!! Albert Pujols trades in his Cardinals red for Angels red
Posted on 8 Dec 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
I am beside myself right now. Like you, I heard that the Angels were the laying in the weeds for Albert Pujols, but I felt it was just posturing, that he would eventually end up back in St. Louis. I can honestly say I was more focused on C.J. Wilson, who I felt was coming to the Angels. I was wrong, and right. In a move that will rattle the baseball power brokers, the Angels signed Pujols to a...

Sunday: Day of Unrest
Posted on 16 Aug 2011 by Steve Folsom.
Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN featured the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the Colorado Rockies. It was a great chance for Colorado to play well in front of a national audience; an audience who may not understand the team’s record in relation to their roster. Furthermore, the Rockies had an opportunity to win on Sunday for the first time in 17 attempts. The game got off to a great start when ...

Pull out the hanky, Conger wears Mister Anderson’s #

I am sure you were all wondering (not!) where is the Angels blog? We all had a few days off so maintenance could be done on the site. I think a lot of our posters were scared that this site was gone, but I knew better (not!). The people that run this are outstanding, so I really did know that we would be back real soon. And we are!! I'll touch on a few things that stood out to me over the weeke...

Angels catch some ZZ’s. Sweep the Nationals
Posted on 29 Jun 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
After 2 days of offense, the Angels got just enough pitching to beat the Washington Nationals 1-0, sweeping the 3 game set. The Angels didn't even need a hit to score their run in the 7th inning. I keep hearing how Ryan Zimmerman is one of baseballs best 3rd basemen, but if he is, he sure wasn't this week. He gunned an easy double play grounder in to right field, allowing Bobby Abreu to get in ...

MLB TRADE TALK – WHO GOES? WHO STAYS? WHO PAYS?
Posted on 29 Jun 2011 by Christopher Rowe.
Most of the time in life what matters is what one does, not what you say you will do. Baseball General Managers have the rare aspect of their job description in that other people (the media and fans) spend a lot of time focused on what we think they should do. Every writer, analyst and fan has their own opinion regarding what their team should do before the vaunted non-waiver trading deadline. ...

Baseball’s Midseason Awards
Posted on 27 Jun 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
It seems like just yesterday I was typing up my preseason predictions for the upcoming baseball season. It's hard to believe that we are already at the halfway point. Who says that the baseball season is too long? As per usual with baseball, this season is full of unpredictability and surprises. We've seen two no-hitters within one week to make this the year of the pitcher 2.0, a home ...

Dodgers G-wynn, denying Angels a sweep
Posted on 26 Jun 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
The Dodgers have won the World Series! That's how they acted after Tony Gwynn's single gave the Dodgers a walk off 3-2 win in the finale of the 3 game series at Chavez Ravine. I love enthusiasm, but I have always been told that you don't ever want to embarrass the opponent. Isn't mobbing each other after a meaningless June game doing just that? I remember when Garret Anderson had 10 RBI against...

LAABTDATT. LAA Beating the Dodgers all the time.

The Angels aren't that good of team. The Dodgers are down right bad. I never thought I would say that, but it is true. The Dodgers are making the Halos out to be the Yankees of yesteryear. Both teams are deficient in many areas, but the Angels have a much better nucleus than their boys up the freeway. Matt Kemp is the best player on either team, but he is only one guy. Andre Ethier isn't so bad...

Fish Falter in Final Stretch of Road Trip

mega millions The weather here in South Florida is ever-changing. On any given day, residents can be treated to climate changes that can span hours and entire days. One minute it’s sunny and delightful, then the next thing you know a storm rolls in and leaves everyone with a little taste of gloom. The weather in South Florida is indeed very fickle. So are the fans. The Marlins began their m...

Not Kershaw
Posted on 18 May 2011 by Chris Tolbert.
The Giants against Kershaw this year are 0-2. Kershaw has thrown 13 2/3 shutout innings versus the Giants this season while striking out 16 in two starts this year. Going back to last year he has tossed 22 2/3 scoreless innings vs the Giants. He is 3-1 against the Giants posting a 1.09 ERA in seven career starts vs the Dodgers. Cain has done well in Los Angeles since 2008 with a 1.67 ER...
