In the Blink of an Eye…
Posted on 13 Oct 2012 by Marien Hornyak.
Hello, my friends. I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I was so caught up in the baseball playoffs that I wasn’t sure what to write about – the surprising Oakland A’s, the feisty Orioles, the Strasburg-less Nationals… But as a true Nationals fan, I have to accept what happened Friday night, and I’m hoping that by writing about it, I can move on and look forward to next yearâ...

Pitchers and Catchers and Hope… Oh my!
Posted on 19 Feb 2012 by Marien Hornyak.
The day that us baseball fans have been waiting for since last November has finally arrived – pitchers and catchers have officially reported to their Spring Training venues, and for the Washington Nationals, Viera, Florida will once again be their home in the Grapefruit League. In previous years, the Nationals have had two or three definitive starters, with three or four spots open for player...

That’s a Wrap!
Posted on 29 Sep 2011 by Marien Hornyak.
The Washington Nationals wrapped up the 2011 baseball season with a 3-1 win over the Florida Marlins on Wednesday afternoon. It was a well-scripted game, with a young ace pitching, a wise veteran catching, and a respectable Floridian crowd of fans (for once!) in the stands. And while the Marlins said good-bye to their god-awful stadium, the Nationals went home with a feeling of satisfaction...

Hey! How ‘Bout That?
Posted on 21 Sep 2011 by Marien Hornyak.
The Washington Nationals swept a double-header against the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday and Nationals fans can’t help but gloat a little. The Nats won the first game 4-3 in 10 innings, then shut out the Phillies in the nightcap by a score of 3-0. Of course, all the Phillies fans I know have already come up with a bunch of excuses – “They didn’t have their best players out there!â€...

Shopping for a closer? Head to the Storen
Posted on 1 Aug 2010 by Trevor Stewart.
At this point in the season, if you have had your relief pitching decimated by injuries or if you just drafted unreliable closers, I have a solution. The Washington Nationals traded their closer Matt Capps to the Minnesota Twins and now they are without a closer. However, the young set-up man Drew Storen has done a masterful job in that role and most likely he will be stepping into the closer s...

Nationals lose 7-1 in worst game of year
Posted on 2 May 2010 by Sam Diament.
There are two games that come close to how bad the Nationals played last night. The first is the home opener, an 11-1 loss to the Phillies. The low quality of play combined with Phillies fans overtaking Nationals Park and acting extremely rudely (not to generalize, but I have yet to hear anything good about the Phillies fans who came to Washington that day) make a very close second. The thir...

Nationals Fantasy Preview
Posted on 29 Mar 2010 by Sam Diament.
Opening Day is just around the corner, and many readers will be taking part in fantasy baseball drafts soon. I figured I would give my take on which Nationals should find a place on your team and which ones you should stay far, far away from. Draft these guys: Ryan Zimmerman – It should come as no surprise to anyone that Ryan Zimmerman is the premiere player on the Nationals, both fantasy-wi...

In The Plan we trust

Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Washington Nationals section of the website. This is my first post here, hopefully with many more to come, and I am looking forward to giving you all the Nationals news and notes. Hope springs eternal in the depths of winter. With just one week before pitchers and catchers report to Arizona and Florida for Spring Training, even Nationals fans have high hopes ...

The Drew Storen Era Begins
Posted on 11 Jun 2009 by Ryan Moore.
The wait is over! That went a lot more smoothly than I expected: the Nationals have signed their first round draft pick, mere hours after selecting him. Stanford righty reliever Drew Storen is the future, and the future is now, and now has never been closer to the past. Think about that. The Nats, however, actually had two first round picks thanks to the nifty combination of being terrible a...
