The newly branded Scotiabank Saddledome was rocking as the Calgary Flames won their home opener 3-1 over the Los Angeles Kings. The biggest thing for the Flames was they played with a much greater intensity and sense of urgency in front of the sold out home crowd. The Kings faced off against a pretty strong Avs squad (at least by pre-season standards) and managed to shrug off a slow start to grab the comeback win. The Avalanche tallied in under 3 minutes, then again early in the 2nd to pull ahead by 2 goals. However, the Kings persistence paid off, netting them the last 4 goals in a row. (more…)

After years of patient rebuilding the Kings posted a successful regular season and a return to the playoffs. Although their post-season run ended short, the Kings have a lot to be optimistic about heading into the summer. (more…)
