Wait, Wait, Wait. Edgar Renteria Dumped The Giants?
Posted on 9 Jan 2011 by Joseph Davis.
Edgar’s now a Redgar. Signed by Cincy for $3 million. He is just the 4th reigning WS MVP since 1990 to change teams the following season (Jack Morris, ’91 Twins to Blue Jays; John Wetteland, ’96 Yankees to Rangers; Hideki Matsui, ’09 Yankees to Angels). Good for him. Can you remember the last time an aging utility infielder (to-be) generated this much press? Probably when Manny Alexande...

Giants BATSMEN, 12/17: CSN Re-Broadcasts, Velez, Renteria
Posted on 18 Dec 2010 by Joseph Davis.
(Reminder: BATSMEN stands for Birthdays, Appearances, Tune In, Sundry, Movement, Eavesdroppings, & News.) I can’t speak for all Giants fans, but speaking for me, the Comcast SportsNet Bay Area rebroadcasts of the 2010 Giants postseason run have been nothing short of…terrific. The tally of magical highlights grew so high, they admittedly became a little blurred in my mind as time passed...

Giants BATSMEN, 12/9/10: Renteria Staying?
Posted on 9 Dec 2010 by Joseph Davis.
Late-breaking news courtesy of KNBR and verified via the reliable John Shea’s Twitter update: Edgar Renteria has been offered a deal to return to the Giants as a reserve, for 1 year at about $1M (pretty sure a certain unnamed handsome Giants blogger predicted that stance weeks ago). I’ll keep you posted. After a good flurry of activity, so begins the conclusion to the lively 2010 Winter Mee...

OK, The Giants Are Champs. NOW What???
Posted on 20 Nov 2010 by Joseph Davis.
No great experience in life lacks a potential downside. Carefree lovemaking can lead to babies and, if you’re doing it unfaithfully, lies and divorce and poverty. Winning the lottery can open the door to scamming opportunists, not to mention scrutiny from those “close to” you who feel they deserve an unreceived handout. Got a shiny new Lamborghini? Then you got higher insurance rates, low...

In salute to the World Series MVP Edgar Renteria, who wears #16, I present you with my select Top 16 2010 Giants Postseason Moments—in a particular order. We all know Edgar Renteria cracked the decisive bomb in Game 5 of the World Series against Texas. We know Brian Wilson wrapped up the 9th as he has countless times since the season opened. We know Tim Lincecum brought his A game and brilliantly controlled a high-power offense with his assortment of fastballs and changeups. We know Bruce Bochy stood at the wheel, navigating his roster masterfull...

World Series Wrap Up: A Giant Win
Posted on 2 Nov 2010 by George Kouvalis.
Much to the chagrin of many purest baseball fans and my self this years edition of the Fall Classic did lack some drama and suspense. Not to take anything away from the San Francisco Giants, they did what they had to do, they won, plain and simple. I have already heard people complaining about this series being the worst one ever and ratings disaster. Too bad. I guess because it wasn't ...

Giants apply whitewash to Reds
Posted on 20 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
It was an ugly game from a Cincinnati standpoint as San Francisco shut down the Reds, 6-0. Giants starter Todd Wellemeyer (W, 2-0) held Cincinnati to four hits in his five innings of work. He also struck out three batters as he snuffed out a pair of Reds rallies. Aubrey Huff homered and drove in two to lead the SF attack. There’s not really a lot to talk about from the game as it seemed to be...
