Giants Get Mini-Swept in Toronto
Posted on 16 May 2013 by Daniel Trucios.
It was a rough couple of days for the Champs north of the border. Poor fielding was theme early again for the San Francisco Giants (23-17) as a couple of errors helped fuel a 5-run first inning for the Toronto Blue Jays (17-24). The Jays would then tack on 5 more runs over the following 2 innings making 10-1 by the end of the 3rd. The Blue Jays would go onto win by a final of 11-3. Last night's...

Jays blank Yanks 6-0
Posted on 28 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
After losing 8 of 10 on the last road trip of the season, the Jays managed to kick off their last home stand with a 6-0 win over the Yankees. Brandon Morrow went the deepest in a game since before he went on the disabled list in June. Morrow pitched seven strong innings, only giving up four hits. After facing five batters in the seventh and needing 21 pitches to get through the inning, Morrowâ€...

Romero wins; Jays split doubleheader
Posted on 25 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
The Blue Jays’ overall difficulty winning games aside, this past road trip has seen the team play a lot of baseball in a short span. After leaving Toronto last weekend, the team’s current trip features two double-headers and leads right into their last homestand of the season. When all is said and done, Toronto will have played 17 games in 15 days to close out 2012. Game one in Baltimore on...

Jays lose 3-2 to Boston
Posted on 16 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
For anyone who may be watching, Carlos Villanueva has shown this season that he’s capable of being a member of a starting rotation. Of his 14 starts this season, only two of them have been no decisions (including Saturday against Boston) and he’s amassed a 7-5 record. In a season where Toronto rotation needed some stability from somewhere, Villanueva provided a decent starting point. On S...

Romero loses 13th straight in Jays’ 3-2 loss
Posted on 13 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
It’s hard to know when or how things will click back into place for Ricky Romero. After pitching one of his better performances on seven days earlier this season, Toronto hoped giving Romero some extra time this go-around would have the same result. Unfortunately, Romero was nowhere as effective on Wednesday night as the Blue Jays were hoping for. The first inning was a solid start for Romer...

Jays homerun their way to 7-5 win
Posted on 8 Sep 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
As the Blue Jays made their way to Fenway Park for the last time this season fresh off a win at home on Wednesday, they probably couldn’t help but think about repeating their last trip into Boston. The three game sweep in July came only days after Toronto lost Jose Bautista and they were without Brett Lawrie for the first game. After looking anemic after the All-Star Break, the Jays managed t...

Jays beat Rays 2-0
Posted on 31 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
With their win Thursday night, the Blue Jays managed to win back-to-back games for the first time since the middle of August. It seems Toronto has every intention of ending a disastrous August on a winning note, having won three of their last four. In what was one of (if not the best) pitched games on the season, Toronto starter Carlos Villanueva went six strong innings without giving up a run....

Romero walks 8 in loss to Tigers
Posted on 21 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
The season has not been kind to Ricky Romero. After going 8-1 before the All-Star Break, Romero hasn’t been able to record a win in ten starts. His latest attempt against the Detroit Tigers was another forgettable trip to the mound for Romero. Over his last ten games, Romero has shown moments of improvement over his control issues that have plagued him all season. In his last start against th...

Jays outpitch Rangers
Posted on 18 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
If any Blue Jays follower was questioning whether or not J.A. Happ was just another stop-gap starter for the team, the 29 year-old lefty made great strides on Friday night against the Texas Rangers to put those questions to rest. In his third start for Toronto, Happ threw 98 pitches over six innings, gave up one run on two hits, walked one and struck out eight. Most impressively, seven of his s...

Jays lose 2nd game of series
Posted on 15 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
For the Blue Jays Tuesday’s loss to Chicago hinged mainly on two plays: Henderson Alvarez’s error in the fifth that allowed in the eventual winning run, and Edwin Encarnacion’s lineout/turned double-play to end a bases-loaded opportunity. Alvarez was pitching well early in the game. He had only given up two hits, until AJ Pierzynski’s lead-off single in the fifth. Pierzynski would event...

Jays lose in Tampa, again.
Posted on 9 Aug 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
It’s tough to say why the Toronto Blue Jays have such a hard time when they visit Tampa Bay. With their 3-2 loss to the Rays on Wednesday night, the Jays guaranteed the loss of their 16th straight series in Florida. Granted, even when the Rays weren’t in the playoff hunt regularly they gave Toronto trouble. With the Jays’ offense scuffling, having to face Tampa’s excellent pitching staf...

Toronto beats Detroit, 8-3
Posted on 28 Jul 2012 by Amanda Tallon.
The Blue Jays started off their series against the Detroit Tigers in a positive way. After avoiding the sweep with a 10-4 win against Oakland yesterday, Toronto was hoping to kick the weekend off with a win on Friday night. Starter Carlos Villanueva was not at his most efficient, needing 99 pitches to make it through five innings. But, after giving up two, two-out solo homeruns to Miguel Cabrer...
