Los Angeles Angels Update
Posted on 26 Sep 2012 by Joshua Skelton.
Manager Mike Scioscia has been trying really hard for us to lose these very important games. His pitching changes have been curious at best. He took Jerome Williams out of the first game, in a very important series against Texas, when he was shutting down the Rangers in a big way, for Garrett Richards who proceeded to give up 2 runs when we were on our way back into that game. Then, instead of ...

Angels glad to be out of Toronto
Posted on 2 Jul 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
I'll take a split in Toronto anytime. I'm not gonna quote you any stats, it just seems to me that the Halos have trouble north of the border. They took game 1 because they out-slugged the Jays. Mike Trout, who's headed to the All-Star game, hit the game winner. Another All-Star, Mark Trumbo and one non-All-Star Albert Pujols did, as well. The key play came on the defensive side though. Erick ...

Fa la la la la..LAA takes the freeway series…again!!
Posted on 24 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
For the 6th straight year, the Angels didn't lose the Freeway series to the Dodgers. They have split the 6 games in the past half-dozen years, but they haven't lost one since 2006. The Angels won this years series 4 games to 2. I thought the Dodgers were gonna blow em out on Friday. They had 5 on the board before most people were even in the stadium. Dan Haren continues to look….well̷...

Did you know the Angels played the D’backs over the weekend?
Posted on 20 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Yes, I am super late in writing about the past Angels-Diamondbacks series. Considering they are playing the finale of the Giants series tonight, I missed the bus completely. On that note, this will be short. Went to Friday's game vs the snakes. All I remember is the Angels scoringzero runs. I also remember Dan Haren walking Miguel Montero to get to Aaron Hill with 2 men on in the 5th. Hill hit...

Jordan Rules (NOT!)
Posted on 27 Apr 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
Told you so. After the Angels were eliminated last year I said they need to go after Jonathan Papelbon or Heath Bell (Who stinks right now in Miami). I am glad they signed Albert Pujols, but most of the Halos problems were in the bullpen. They still are. It took Jordan Walden all of two batters to lose the finale in Tampa Bay on Thursday. A fastball right down the middle to a fastball hitter. ...

Angels close to decision on their new GM. Or are they?
Posted on 15 Oct 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
I felt a true sigh of relief when I heard Bill Stoneman was in charge of finding the Angels next General Manager. I'm sure he'll waver on his decision, eventually being unable to pull the trigger. Good to see the Vernon Wells effect has cost at least 3 Halo executives their jobs. I promise you that if Wells hit 280, with 25 and 90, there would have been no change in the executive hierarchy. No...

To make the playoffs, the Angels will have to WALK a tightrope.
Posted on 22 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
Thank you Major League baseball for making the Angels play a night game in Toronto on Thursday. Flying back across country so they can start a huge series against the Oakland A's on Friday, is a true recipe for success. Maybe the schedule was made with the thought the Angels would stink in 2011, I don't know. I had the Angels losing 3 of 4 to the Jays. They split, but both their losses came in ...

One day after getting rolled, Angels ride high—smoke the Jays
Posted on 21 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
First the AL West. Angels are a full 5 games back of the Rangers. Texas is playing at Oakland, and with my apologies to my friend Scott, that is great. That is, if you are a Rangers fan. Texas spends the money, and has a ball playing the A's. I think they have won 11 of the past 12 meetings. Division champs: The Texas Rangers. Now the Wild card. Believe it or not, the Angels are just 3.5 back o...

The Mariners were game. The Angels just had more game
Posted on 8 Sep 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
It's really hard to not get excited about the Angels. Every time I think they are done they find a way to get back in the AL West race. The unfortunate thing, time is running out. . The Angels looked decent on Monday, slapping around 7 hits on their way to a 7-3 victory. The Mariners did the Angels a bunch of favors by committing 5 errors. The errors didn't amount to much, as the Angels still ...

2 games, 2 beat downs by the Rangers.
Posted on 17 Aug 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
Ballgame!! Through 2 games the Rangers have 31 hits, and 15 runs. The Halos have 18 and 7. Let's be honest, if your favorite team has a shot at the division leaders, and you are starting 2 guys, that between them have 25 career starts, then your team is in trouble. That's exactly what the Angels did in the first two games against the front running Texas Rangers. I used to laugh at other teams y...

Checkmate. Angels play the Rook, Yankees take the (K) night.
Posted on 10 Aug 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
From, “WHAT A GAME to what a game” in just 2 nights. Tuesday, the Angels did something not seen very much. They beat Mariano Rivera. Well, Bobby Abreu did. Abreu, who has been putrid the last month, must love playing his former team. 2 home runs for the Halo DH, including the game winner. Abreu, who hit .179 in July, and .053 so far in August, was the last man that I thought would b...
