Hats Off Cincinnati
Posted on 19 Aug 2011 by Derrick Blyberg.
The Cincinnati Reds head into Pittsburgh for a weekend series after dropping two-out-of-three to the Washington Nationals in typical 2011 Reds fashion. The consistent failure to produce timely hitting has been a thorn the size of a California Redwood stuck in the club’s side. “That's been the story of the year,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “Get one guy hot one day. Get ano...

Cincinnati Reds Should Make These Changes Immediately!
Posted on 23 May 2011 by Cliff Eastham.
The Cincinnati Reds are in a tailspin. Five straight losses constitute a tailspin, am I right? One week ago they led the National League Central Division by 1 ½ games, courtesy of a 3-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. Now, after losing a 2-game series to the Pirates, and being swept by the Cleveland Indians, they find themselves 2 ½ games behind the front running Cardinals. They are also...

Positive News

It seems like every time I post something about the Reds, it's negative. Maybe my blood gets to boiling after a disappointing loss or series and I just have to write something. But not today. Not after the Reds finished off the Cubs to win yet another series, and improve their record to 20-games over .500. Can you believe it? I've been covering this team since spring training began in Arizona. ...

Reds Pass Test in Cleveland
Posted on 23 May 2010 by Dave Allen.
The season is a marathon, not a sprint, and it contains many twists and turns. Certainly, the week just ended had a few of those for Cincinnati. It was nice to see the Reds bounce back from their nightmare on Peachtree Street to take two of three from the Indians. It allowed Reds fans to exhale a bit, even if the team made it into first place again on Saturday, but then dropped back down to 2nd...

Weekend opportunity for Reds
Posted on 14 May 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds are back home to begin what is arguably their most important series in the last three seasons as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals. This is quite honestly the position many thought they would be in at this point in the season. Against the backdrop of what will be the Gillette Civil Rights Game on Saturday, the Reds begin the weekend a mere half-game behind the division-leading Cardi...

Reds end losing streak
Posted on 20 Apr 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds ended their five-game losing streak with a big 11-9 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Great American Ball Park. One thing’s for sure. Don’t root for this team if you’ve got a weak heart. The Reds scored in their final at-bat to get the win yet again. All six Reds wins have come when they’ve scored runs in their final at-bat. Reds starting pitchers still do not have a victory....

Reds winning streak ends
Posted on 14 Apr 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds 3-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Florida Marlins on Wednesday night, 5-3. Cincinnati could not find enough offense this night, scoring three runs where they had plated 10 the night before. It was a disappointing night for starter Homer Bailey. Manager Dusty Baker needed Bailey to go deep into the game after using up most of the bullpen during back-to-back extra ...

Gomes Blast Salvages Opening Series with Cardinals
Posted on 9 Apr 2010 by Dave Allen.
The pitching of Bronson Arroyo and the clutch hitting of Jonny Gomes led the Reds to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park. The win salvaged the series for Cincinnati, who looked bad in dropping the first two games of the season to St. Louis, 11-6 and 6-3. The fifth-largest crowd in GABP history (42.493) enjoyed one of the all-time best weather days in Ope...

Reds Looking Good for 2010
Posted on 5 Apr 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds have shown steady improvement over the last three seasons and fans in Cincinnati think that this could be the year for their team. Not in the way you might think, however. Despite even MLB Network’s 30 Teams in 30 Days series labeling the Reds as the “sexy dark horse pick” to make the NL Playoffs, Queen City baseball fans don’t truly believe that the Reds will play in the posts...

Bailey looks good, Stubbs homers in Reds Win
Posted on 24 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds scored seven runs in their last at-bat to beat a split-squad San Francisco Giants team 10-3 in Cactus League action in Goodyear on Wednesday. They beat up on former Red Jeremy Affeldt (L, 2-1) to do it. It was a far cry from Saturday’s 6-0 loss to San Fran at Scottsdale on Saturday. With the regular season less than two weeks away, both teams went with mostly projected Opening Day st...

Chapman struggles as Reds get hammered
Posted on 22 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Reds fell to Colorado 9-1 in Cactus League action on Monday in Goodyear. Brad Eldred hit two homers and drove in three to lead the Rockies’ attack. It was a tough day for Cincinnati on both sides of the ball. The Reds offense only managed five hits. This was more disappointing because the lineup was basically the projected starting lineup for Opening Day. They played the required five inn...

Reds fall to Tribe… again
Posted on 18 Mar 2010 by Dave Allen.
The Cleveland Indians continued their mastery over their spring training complex partner as they beat the Reds 6-2 on Thursday afternoon. Wes Hodges went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI to lead the Indians. They have won all four meetings with Cincinnati this spring with two more head-to-head matchups on the schedule. Things got off to a good start for Cincinnati early. Cleveland made a change...
