On a Train to Nowhere
Posted on 1 Jun 2009 by Joe Coburn.
It's June 1st. Here the Royals are at 23-27. They've managed just 2 wins in their last 10. With their heavy inter-division slate through the end of May this was a date I thought we be a revealing one as far as where they are as a team. It is. They're nowhere, and headed in the wrong direction. Their best hitter has been Billy Butler. Alberto Callaspo is the only guy over .30...

Exciting 9th beats Wood, Indians
Posted on 20 May 2009 by Joe Coburn.
What a great way to start the series. I thought KC was dead. No way they do this off Kerry Wood, no matter how badly he has struggled. No way they were gonna put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th. So the Royals scored 6 runs. In 3 games. And managed to win 2 of em'. Following an impressive performance by Zack Greinke, Kyle Davies goes out and pitches 7 strong. The bullpen held it, and KC passes it's 1st divisional test. In what turned out to be a pitching duel, between Davies and John Danks, the Royals showed you a little gumption. A great catch by Dejesus in left. 3 games in ...

Opening Day (2 Days after the fact)
Posted on 9 Apr 2009 by Joe Coburn.
There were plenty of positives to take from opening day, but Kyle Farnsworth is not among them. Nobody who has ever seen “Specs” pitch was surprised in the least. It'll happen again. And again. And again. What's extra nice is that he teases you with the K of Quentin, and then leaves one out to a guy who's hit HUNDREDS of homeruns. Get used to it. A few notes on ope...
