Carlos es muy loco! Guillen’s antics help the Angels go from no-no, to yes, thank you.
Posted on 31 Jul 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
Carlos Guillen is an idiot! He sure showed Jered Weaver and the Angels, who's the boss. Now, he owes his own pitcher, Justin Verlander an apology. Let me rewind.. Verlander was unbelievable today and should have no hit the Angels. However, he was done in by his teammate, Carlos Guillen. Detroit was already leading 2-0 when Guillen launched a home run off Weaver in the bottom of the 7th inning....

Time For a Little “Ack-nowledgment”
Posted on 29 Jun 2011 by Chase Smith.
Among the many rookie players the Mariners have called up as fillers this season, one name stands out among the rest. Young-gun 2B Dustin Ackley has become one of the more productive hitters in the Mariners offense and has been a significant contributor helping put more runs on the board in clutch situations. With strong plate discipline and natural power in his swing, this Arizona Fall Leag...

Baseball’s Midseason Awards
Posted on 27 Jun 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
It seems like just yesterday I was typing up my preseason predictions for the upcoming baseball season. It's hard to believe that we are already at the halfway point. Who says that the baseball season is too long? As per usual with baseball, this season is full of unpredictability and surprises. We've seen two no-hitters within one week to make this the year of the pitcher 2.0, a home ...

Will No-Hitter Spark the Tigers?
Posted on 11 May 2011 by Jeremy Klumpp.
AP Photo The Detroit Tigers up to this point have been streaky and full of inconsistent play. The offense is fifth in team batting, but second in strikeouts and the defense sits near the bottom of the American League. To add to the frustration the team recently followed a seven-game losing streak by winning eight of their next nine games. Hopefully Saturday’s dominant no-hitter from Justin Ve...

Orioles = A Sign of Spring
Posted on 8 Apr 2011 by Sven Jenkins.
According to all-birds.com, the Oriole is a sign of spring. So it’s no wonder it felt like Mother Nature skipped over spring the last thirteen years, the Orioles have been nowhere to be found. However, it’s just six games into the 2011 season and the Orioles seem to have everything clicking for them. The offense exploded for nine runs in yesterday’s rubber match, giving the O’s a 5-1 ...

2011 MLB Preview: Looking at Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers on Paper
Posted on 30 Mar 2011 by Adrian Fedkiw.
The story of the offseason in Detroit has been the well being of Miguel Cabrera. We all know the story by now. As Cabrera continues to fight his demons, I don't see why that will be a hindrance on the baseball diamond. If anything, playing baseball and being around his teammates is beneficial. Pitching wise, Detroit is looking for improvement and breakout seasons from youngsters Max Scherze...

The Tigers’ magic number? .500
Posted on 21 Sep 2010 by Shane Liebler.
When last I wrote about the Tigers, I argued the team still had a chance despite their rotten post-All-Star Break performance. They did. Of course, in order to be in the AL Central race one month later, they had to win. They didn't. So, here we are waiting out the rest of the season, wondering who the Yankees will beat to win the World Series and managing our fantasy football lineups. In other ...

Oh my Boesch! Rookies making the difference this year
Posted on 20 May 2010 by Shane Liebler.
The biggest question mark coming into this season had to be whether the Tigers could replace Curtis Granderson's athleticism and power. Rookie Austin Jackson has proved an apt leadoff man, leading the team in hits and stolen bases while currently tied with Johnny Damon for runs scored. Brennan Boesch has provided the muscle, batting in 19 runners in nearly as many games, slugging a team-leading...

Ouch! Banged up Bombers drop 4 of 5
Posted on 14 May 2010 by Stephanie Geosits.
The Yankees return home Friday to lick their wounds and try to put a halt to their worst stretch of the season after dropping their get-away game in Boston and going 1-3 against the Tigers. Over the five game stretch they scored an anemic 15 runs (eight of which came in their 8-0 win) and batted .199. The pitchers' ERA totaled a less than impressive 4.39. Phil Hughes became the team's first 5-g...

Let’s play twos
Posted on 11 May 2010 by Shane Liebler.
The Tigers have seen a lot of 2s in the first inning this year and usually not in their offensive half. The Angels and Rangers scored at least two against Tigers starters in the first inning for five straight games near the end of April. Even though the comeback kids managed a 2-3 record over that stretch, it was still annoying. They were a lot less lucky when the Twins put up pairs to start ea...
