The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 49-21 win against Middle Tennessee State on Saturday night. They played in front of a record crowd at MTSU’s Stadium. 20 Yrs Later, Duke-UNLV Still Tops
Posted on 23 Mar 2011 by Steven Keys.
March Madness is crazy for upsets. More than any other sport, the NCAA Basketball Championships seem predicated on the probability that powerhouse schools will get unplugged by some small-college upstart on their way to being fitted for Cinderella’s glass slipper. Bookies and business-types lose sleep just thinking about it, but fans can’t get enough. Shockers aren’t the only defining tra...

Jayhawks Overpower Illini To Advance to Sweet 16
Posted on 21 Mar 2011 by Jason Patt.
All season, the Illinois Fighting Illini have had problems stringing two strong performances together. After playing a near perfect game against UNLV, the Illini needed a repeat performance in order to upset the 1st seeded Kansas Jayhawks. While the effort was there, the Illini just didn't have enough to overcome the Jayhawks in a 73-59 season-ending loss. Marcus and Markieff Morris domin...

Panthers Are Consistently Disrespected
Posted on 14 Feb 2011 by Justin Welton.
First of all, I want to state that if I had a vote for the rankings my top five would be like this: Kansas Pittsburgh Ohio State Texas Duke The only real question in my mind was between Pittsburgh and Ohio State, but when you lose a game I believe you should drop more than one spot, so two spots is sufficient. I heard a lot of experts this week talk about Texas being the best team in the coun...

Jayhawks Add Walk-On, Daniels to Follow?
Posted on 25 Jan 2011 by Shaun Albin.
Typically, the addition of a walk-on basketball player would hardly be newsworthy. Today, however, Christian Garrett’s decision to play basketball at the University of Kansas could lead to the solidification of another talented recruiting class. Garrett, from the IMG Academy, has chosen to walk-on at KU in the class of 2011. Garrett’s teammate, DeAndre Daniels, could be next. The Riva...

Jayhawks Tested, Emerge Unbeaten
Posted on 15 Jan 2011 by Shaun Albin.
Saturday’s game appeared, by all accounts, to be the game that could give the Jayhawks that one momentum building dominant effort. Perennial Big 12 punching bag Nebraska visited the undefeated #2 team in the country. However, when the final buzzer sounded, the Jayhawks emerged by the slimmest of margins. The Huskers seemed to dictate the tempo immediately. Doc Sadler’s group slowed th...

Jayhawks/Cyclones Preview
Posted on 12 Jan 2011 by Shaun Albin.
The Kansas Jayhawks are clearly the better team entering tonight’s game. Anyone who thinks the Iowa State Cyclones will do more damage in March is likely off their medication. With all that said, expect a battle in the Hilton Coliseum. For as good as they’ve been this season, the Jayhawks have failed to put power conference teams away. This team has not conditioned itself for the gr...

Despite being in control early and often, Kansas could never put the Wolverines away. Kansas led by double figures for an eight minut...

The disparity in talent was evident immediately. Kansas, streaked out to a 15-0 start through the first 5 minutes and 47 seconds as UMKC simply couldn’t find a way to match up. The Jayhawks continued to create turnovers and run all night on their way to a 99-52 performance. Despite losing Markieff Morris in the first two minutes to foul trouble, Kansas pulled away immediately. Led b...

#6 Kansas’ stellar defense holds back Bobcats

Last year, Ohio University Basketball (now 3-2) pulled off the stunning upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by beating the Georgetown Hoyas (a #4 seed, the ‘Cats were a #13) soundly. That momentum didn't carry over tonight as they fell hard to the #6 ranked Kansas Jayhawks. The matchup was part of a 4 game home and travel tournament, the Las Vegas Invitational. The game was he...

Nebraska one win away from Big 12 North title
Posted on 14 Nov 2010 by Darshan Patel.
Taylor Martinez was not his best out there Saturday night, but he was healthy. Martinez returned to the field with his healthy ankle as he managed the No. 9 Cornhuskers to a 20-3 win over the Jayhawks. The freshman quarterback did not have to do anything spectacular as his running backs carried the load. Rex Burkhead and Roy Helu Jr. had a combined 162 yards for two touchdowns. It seems like Bu...
