Is This The Year?
Posted on 15 Mar 2011 by Justin Welton.
I have said all year long that this is the best chance for Pitt to make the Final Four. They have veteran leadership with Brad Wanamaker, Gilbert Brown and Gary McGhee. Throw in the fact that Ashton Gibbs and Nasir Robinson have multiple experiences in the tournament, and you have one of the more experienced teams in the field. The field is the weakest that I can remember. The top five teams ar...

Wildcats Own Texas
Posted on 1 Mar 2011 by Shaun Albin.
The regular season is on its final leg. We are approaching the time of year that matters most, and the Wildcats couldn’t be playing better. In a conference where road wins are at a premium, K-State marched into Austin, Texas and completely shut down the Longhorns. Despite struggling on the boards early, the Wildcats kept Texas within reach in the first half. Once the clock started in th...

Running Diary from the Stands of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl
Posted on 31 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
By now, you have probably heard the story. When Doug Marrone was selected as Syracuse football head coach in December 2008, he was taking the reigns of a program that had won 10 games in the last four years. Two years later, Marrone’s team got a chance to play on the field of Yankee Stadium. The story feel-good story’s happy ending is not simply that the Orange played in a bowl. His team wo...

Time to Go Bowling: Syracuse vs. Kansas State New Era Pinstripe Bowl Preview
Posted on 27 Dec 2010 by Beth Ann Clyde.
Back in August, Syracuse football Head Coach Doug Marrone declared his goal for the season was to lead the Orange to its first bowl game since 2004. It sounded like a bunch of rhetoric; the same cliché goal that every coach claims he has at the beginning of the season whether he believes it or not. Four months later, Marrone has turned Orange nation into a group of believers. SU will take on K...

Syracuse has learned who it will face in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30. The Kansas State Wildcats, also 7-5, accepted a bid Thursday night. It will be the Wildcats, members of the Big 12 Conference, first bowl game since 2006. Syracuse fans have been waiting for two years longer, of course. The Orange has not played in a bowl game since 2004. The game will be played at Yankee Stadium (W...

Have They Gotten Better?
Posted on 24 Nov 2010 by Brian Ivory.
Only a few games into the Duke Blue Devils season, and already I have heard basketball pundits asking “is it possible that this team is better than last season?” The way I see it, the loss of seniors Brian Zoubek, John Scheyer and Lance Thomas left two key questions to be answered. One was who was going to fill in for the 7'1″ Zoubek in the paint? His presence was paramount to...

Kansas State – Baylor Preview
Posted on 21 Oct 2010 by Chad Craghead.
Looking to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2006, the Kansas State Wildcats travel to Waco, Texas Saturday afternoon to battle the Baylor Bears. Led by sophomore quarterback Robert Griffin III, the Bears have a dynamic offense that will present many problems for a young, porous Wildcat defense. Having the worse rush defense in the Big 12 and 115th nationally, Kansas State will once...

Coming off an embarrassing 48-13 defeat to Nebraska last week, the Kansas State Wildcats will look to bounce back against in-state rival Kansas for a second consecutive Thursday night contest. The Wildcats were manhandled in all facets of the game last week, led by Husker QB Taylor Martinez, who ran for 241 yards and four touchdowns. After the defeat, the Kansas State defense fell to 106th nati...

2010 Big 12 Predictions
Posted on 24 Aug 2010 by Adrian Fedkiw.
The Big 12 is an interesting conference heading into the season. 3 players from the 3 best teams within the conference are gone; Colt McCoy of Texas, Sam Bradford of Oklahoma and Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska. With that being said, will one of these 3 hold the Big 12 crown at season's end, or will a Texas A+M, Missouri or Texas Tech emerge. The Big 12 South has claimed the Big 12 title every...
