Angels closing in on the Rangers
Posted on 2 Jun 2012 by Bill Mahoney.
If you turned off the channel after 5 innings, you missed quite an Angels game. The Angels battled back to beat the A.L. West nemesis, the Texas Rangers 4-2. I think the next time sees Mike Trout sees Salt Lake is when he goes to visit the Mormon Tabernacle. That kid is going to man center field for the next 10-15 years. You know Trout is good when a Rangers fan remarked, “Trout is a beas...

Let’s play twos
Posted on 11 May 2010 by Shane Liebler.
The Tigers have seen a lot of 2s in the first inning this year and usually not in their offensive half. The Angels and Rangers scored at least two against Tigers starters in the first inning for five straight games near the end of April. Even though the comeback kids managed a 2-3 record over that stretch, it was still annoying. They were a lot less lucky when the Twins put up pairs to start ea...

The Red Sox Roller Coaster Continues
Posted on 8 May 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
The Red Sox season has been a roller coaster ride. Two weeks ago, the Sox swept Toronto in a three game series on the road. Next they traveled to Baltimore and got swept by the worst team in baseball causing Red Sox nation to officially push the panic button. What happened next? The Red Sox traveled home and played a four game series against the LA Angels and swept them. So if history were to r...

The Red Sox Sweep the Struggling Angels
Posted on 8 May 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
After Thursday's victory over the LA Angels, the Red Sox improved their longest winning streak to 4 games and swept the Angels. They started hitting well, fielding well and pitching well. When you execute all three, you win games and that's what they did this week. Will it last? That is yet to be seen, but it is a step in the right direction. Tuesday, Jon Lester followed up his solid performa...

Boston’s Giving New Meaning to the Song “Dirty Water”
Posted on 3 May 2010 by "Baseball Brenda" Sepanek.
Yesterday an underground pipe ruptured, cutting off drinking water to two million people in the Boston area. A “boil-water” order was put in effect. It gives new meaning to Red Sox fan's favorite song “Dirty Water,” by The Standells. If you have never been to Fenway Park, immediately following a Red Sox win, they play “Dirty Water.” I have been to five games ...

How good are they?
Posted on 21 Apr 2010 by Shane Liebler.
We forgot how good they are. The disappointment that comes with giving away a division championship on the last day — nay, the waning minutes — of the season spans the entire winter. I moped around the house for days to refrains of “it's just a game,” provided by a well-meaning and thoroughly annoyed wife. (more…)

Halos claim seventh in a row, just half game back
Posted on 20 Jun 2009 by Nich Hall.
It has been quite the couple of weeks for Mike Scioscia’s Angels. The Halos have played seven straight games in California and won all seven, courtesy of the Padres, Giants, and last night the Dodgers. Interleague play has been kind to the Halos no doubt but something has also undeniably clicked amongst this ball club. Over the past week the Angels have put on quite the show. They are 8-2...

Vintage Halos win on Opening Day
Posted on 7 Apr 2009 by Nich Hall.
On Opening Day Mike Scioscia and the Angels gave off a distinct impression that 2009 may turn out to be just more of the same for the Halos. With concerns about the rotation and even Saunders arm, Joe went out and threw a gem. He went 6.2 innings surrendering just three hits, with two strikeouts. Always humble Saunders turned the credit over to his teammates, “made pitches when I needed t...

Angels once again will try to climb to the top
Posted on 6 Apr 2009 by Nich Hall.
For Angels fans it must seem like just yesterday they were the best team in baseball, with 100 wins they went into the 2008 American League playoffs with lofty expectations. With Mark Teixeira as a hired gun and arguably the best 1-2-3 pitching rotation in the league the Angels seemed poised to return to the World Series. Unfortunately for the Halos the postseason turned out to be just more of ...
