Carlos es muy loco! Guillen’s antics help the Angels go from no-no, to yes, thank you.
Posted on 31 Jul 2011 by Bill Mahoney.
Carlos Guillen is an idiot! He sure showed Jered Weaver and the Angels, who's the boss. Now, he owes his own pitcher, Justin Verlander an apology. Let me rewind.. Verlander was unbelievable today and should have no hit the Angels. However, he was done in by his teammate, Carlos Guillen. Detroit was already leading 2-0 when Guillen launched a home run off Weaver in the bottom of the 7th inning....

Dirks Could Mean Changing of Guard for Detroit
Posted on 21 May 2011 by Jeremy Klumpp.
The Sunday afternoon game between the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals was supposed to be the major league debut for outfielder Andy Dirks. Mother Nature had other ideas and the game was called due to rain. Dirks would have to wait one more day for his time to begin in the big leagues. In his major league debut on Monday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, Dirks went 1-2 with a walk. With...

Will No-Hitter Spark the Tigers?
Posted on 11 May 2011 by Jeremy Klumpp.
AP Photo The Detroit Tigers up to this point have been streaky and full of inconsistent play. The offense is fifth in team batting, but second in strikeouts and the defense sits near the bottom of the American League. To add to the frustration the team recently followed a seven-game losing streak by winning eight of their next nine games. Hopefully Saturday’s dominant no-hitter from Justin Ve...

WERTH SIGNS WITH NATIONALS
Posted on 5 Dec 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
Jayson Werth has made a decision and will continue to call the “National League East” home in 2010. He remains in the Mid-Atlantic area and he did not opt to sign with the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles or the Boston Red Sox – as was originally expected. Surprisingly Jayson Werth and his agent, Scott Boras, have agreed to a 7-year, $126 million contract wit...

Make an offer Werth can’t Refuse!
Posted on 27 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
It is not news that Jayson Werth is the best free agent on the market. It is also not news that the odds of Jayson Werth being a Phillies in 2011 vary somewhere between “slim” and “none.” The Phillies have made it clear that they have other salary and contract considerations and that they “have to draw the line somewhere.” Media sharks have placed Werth into ...

Phillies Quietly Restocking for 2011
Posted on 13 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
It has been a relatively busy week for the Phillies. They hired Juan Samuel to replace Davey Lopes on the coaching staff. They signed or agreed to terms with a few notable Minor League free agents and searched to fill vacancies on their Minor League coaching staff – which could conclude with Ryne Sandberg and Mickey Morandini joining the organization. This is before General manager Rube...

Amaro and Boras Discuss Werth, Fans want Burrell back?
Posted on 29 Oct 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. made official contact with OF Jayson Werth’s representative on Friday. Speculations of what this actually could signify remains open to interpretation. Citing policy, Amaro refused to talk about specifics of his conversation with Scott Boras. Phillies obviously are willing to play this game of cat and mouse and they will lose. Just sign Werth! Jayson Werth can nego...

Is this it?
Posted on 25 Jul 2010 by Shane Liebler.
Well, a couple of days ago I was pretty upbeat about the Tigers prospects of winning despite their recent history of losing. As they prepare to feebly face a tough Toronto squad twice today, I'm not even sure they can hold onto third place in the AL Central. The Tigers are in trouble. The injuries to Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen almost certainly guarantee that they are out of the trade de...

How good are they?
Posted on 21 Apr 2010 by Shane Liebler.
We forgot how good they are. The disappointment that comes with giving away a division championship on the last day — nay, the waning minutes — of the season spans the entire winter. I moped around the house for days to refrains of “it's just a game,” provided by a well-meaning and thoroughly annoyed wife. (more…)
