Hawkeyes Keep Perfect Home Record, Beat Michigan 24-16
Posted on 6 Nov 2011 by Debbie Baratz.
It was a nail-biter but the Iowa Hawkeyes held tough until the end and beat the visiting #15 Michigan Wolverines, 24-16, on Saturday. With the win, Iowa is now bowl eligible and has won six consecutive home games. First Half Iowa jumped on the board first with a touchdown by Marcus Coker. This was the first of two for the talented sophomore running back. Michigan got their first touchdown by it...

Game Preview: Iowa vs. Michigan
Posted on 3 Nov 2011 by Debbie Baratz.
After Iowa's stunning team loss to Minnesota, this team needs to regroup and prepare for a difficult November schedule. For the first time in a long time, I am questioning Iowa's playcalling and have joined Hawkeye Nation in asking for change. Iowa's even-keeled skipper Kirk Ferentz said after Saturday's loss, “We're just going to keep working. The cavalry is not coming. We're not going ...

Historic Matchup Heads To Historic Bowl
Posted on 6 Dec 2010 by Jordan Lauterbach.
Catholics vs Convicts! The Gerry Faust revenge game! The greatest matchup in the history of the Sun Bowl! Had this on Twitter late Saturday night, so make sure you give me a follow @jlauterbach1 (and while you’re at it, plug in @prosportsblog as well) Short of a BCS bowl (or maybe a matchup with Boise State), yesterday’s official news that Notre Dame will be renewing its rivalry with Miami ...

YOUNG RISING MIDWEST SUPERSTAR SOONY SAAD MAY HAVE HIS EYES ON THE MLS AND THE NEXT WORLD CUP
Posted on 20 Nov 2010 by Timothy Ashe Jr..
Just remember that I told you so in a couple of years. There’s an Arab-American player named Soony Saad playing for the University of Michigan right now (and tearing it up) as they look to make a deep run in the college championships. Google his 67yrd shot just to see a bit of his skill. This 18-year old freshman striker from Dearborn, Michigan has already racked up some serious awards ...

A Win Like No Other
Posted on 13 Nov 2010 by Jordan Lauterbach.
WOW. That was unexpected. If you (or, perhaps more appropriately, I) thought the season was over, think again. Two weeks after looking dead as a doornail, the Irish suddenly has life. Bowl eligibility, something that looked like a pipe dream after a crushing loss to Tulsa, is now (dare we say it) likely with Army next on the schedule. The win was the kind Notre Dame fans and haters alike have b...

Can Michigan stop ANYONE?
Posted on 10 Nov 2010 by Curt Bell.
I've written about the Michigan defense before- from their inability to slow down opposing offenses on third down to being incapable of stopping opposing offenses from piling up hundreds of yards. After watching this past weekend's game, in which they pulled out a victory with a score of 67-65, yes, SIXTY SEVEN TO SIXTY FIVE, I'm at a loss for words. Now, the Illini had been no offensive slou...

Illini Look to Tie Up ‘Shoelace’
Posted on 3 Nov 2010 by Gregg Pluta.
On Saturday, at 11 a.m. Central time, the Illinois Fighting Illini will take on the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, MI. The Illini defense, which is ranked 12th in points scored against them, will aim to slow down Denard “Shoelace” Robinson. Denard Robinson was at one point this season a candidate to win the Heisman Trophy because of his explosiveness and the amount of yards a...

Quarterback Controversy? Think again.
Posted on 26 Oct 2010 by Jordan Lauterbach.
Still steaming over Saturday? I know the feeling. However, here's something I don't know – how anyone thinks an Irish quarterback controversy has emerged. Look, I know Dayne Crist was awful on Saturday. No one can deny that. It was way worse then the Stanford game. But if you've watched this team with any sense of frequency, you know that Crist is still the best option right now. Don't ...

Notre Dame Vs Western Michigan – Program Patterns Are About To Change
Posted on 16 Oct 2010 by Jordan Lauterbach.
Michigan hasn’t been good to the Irish. In fact, the state’s been downright awful. Whether it be a crushing home loss to Michigan or an even more crushing loss to Michigan State, its been a state the Irish wish would have left the union years ago. But those feelings will improve later on today. Bold statement time: This one won’t be close. Oh yeah, it’ll be that easy. The path to an...

Michigan: Good or Bad for college football?
Posted on 13 Oct 2010 by Curt Bell.
Before I begin, I ‘d just like to give a shout out to fellow Pro Sports blogger James Centifonti (http://prosportsblogging.com/author/jamescentifonti/) for giving me the idea to this week's blog. After my previous article, he commented on it, and writing that “I hope for the sake of college football that this program gets back to that elite status. It’s just good for the game....

Is Michigan Back?
Posted on 6 Oct 2010 by Curt Bell.
With the Michigan Wolverines now 5-0 after escaping the Indiana Hoosiers 42-35 this past Saturday on yet another monster day from quarterback Denard Robinson, questions have once again started swirling around the squad wondering if, after two dismal rebuilding years under coach Rich Rodriguez, the Wolverines are truly back among college football elite. While they are ranked 17th in this week'...
