MVP Award Goes to…
Posted on 26 Sep 2011 by Christopher Rowe.
As the 2011 season draws to a close, most of the playoff teams have staked their claim on a postseason berth. Only the wildcard qualifications have yet to be determined and those will excitingly come down to the final games of the season. Exciting September baseball affords the best non-division winner to overcome divisional deficiencies and still make the postseason. Despite wildcard debates,...

Tigers Zeroing In On A.L. Central Title
Posted on 4 Sep 2011 by Bob Ballard.
The Detroit Tigers overcame a 7 run deficit to beat division rival Chicago White Sox 9-8 in dramatic finish Saturday afternoon. Ryan Raburn and American League MVP candidate Miguel Cabrera each homered in the bottom of 9th inning to secure the win. With that win, the Tigers increased their lead over the White Sox to 7.5 games. The Tigers go for the sweep Sunday night as starter Ma...

It’s Time For Baseball To Take A Stand Against Alcohol
Posted on 12 Jun 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
On June 8th, Arizona Diamondbacks announcer and former Chicago Cubs great Mark Grace became the latest member of the baseball community to be arrested and charged with DUI. Over the past year, this has become an all too familiar situation for the league. This year alone, Miguel Cabrera, Derek Lowe, Coco Crisp, Shin-Soo Choo, Austin Kearns and Adam Kennedy have been arrested for driving unde...

Orioles = A Sign of Spring
Posted on 8 Apr 2011 by Sven Jenkins.
According to all-birds.com, the Oriole is a sign of spring. So it’s no wonder it felt like Mother Nature skipped over spring the last thirteen years, the Orioles have been nowhere to be found. However, it’s just six games into the 2011 season and the Orioles seem to have everything clicking for them. The offense exploded for nine runs in yesterday’s rubber match, giving the O’s a 5-1 ...

The Tigers’ magic number? .500
Posted on 21 Sep 2010 by Shane Liebler.
When last I wrote about the Tigers, I argued the team still had a chance despite their rotten post-All-Star Break performance. They did. Of course, in order to be in the AL Central race one month later, they had to win. They didn't. So, here we are waiting out the rest of the season, wondering who the Yankees will beat to win the World Series and managing our fantasy football lineups. In other ...

Is this it?
Posted on 25 Jul 2010 by Shane Liebler.
Well, a couple of days ago I was pretty upbeat about the Tigers prospects of winning despite their recent history of losing. As they prepare to feebly face a tough Toronto squad twice today, I'm not even sure they can hold onto third place in the AL Central. The Tigers are in trouble. The injuries to Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen almost certainly guarantee that they are out of the trade de...

Well, Tigers fans, it's been a memorable season so far and at the halfway point, I thought it would be a good idea to share some of our favorite mental mementos so far. (more…)

Fish hoping Stanton can help team swim back upstream
Posted on 7 Jun 2010 by Keith Kobler.
The Florida Marlins announced after Sunday's game that the teams most promising prospect Mike Santon would be called up and heading to Philly. The Marlins will begin a 3 game series with their divisiion rival Phillies and management is hoping Stanton can inject a much needed spark to to the faltering and under-acheiving club. His name might remind you of the former lefty reliever that had a s...

Seeing is disbelieving
Posted on 28 Apr 2010 by Shane Liebler.
By the grace of some unseen force (the producers at the Major League Baseball Network), the Tigers game was broadcast in lieu of a blacked out Mets/Dodgers contest here in Central New York. Cool. It's a rare treat to see my hometown team in the Yankees/Red Sox/Mets country most folks call Upstate. They just are not on unless I ask the bartender nicely to tune in the corner television at neighbo...
