Aramis Ramirez to Cubs, “I can’t be here for a rebuilding process”
Posted on 23 Sep 2011 by Kamil Kolodziejski.
CHICAGO – Aramis Ramirez has decided to test the free agency market after the season seeking a multi-year deal. Currently, the Chicago Cubs have the option to pay $16 million next season to Ramirez if he decides to stay. Ramirez though, is looking for a team that can compete so that he can play for a contender for a couple more years. Aramis’ agent Paul Kinzer told the Chicago Tribune, R...

Castro’s Disinterest a Disappointing Culmination for the Cubs Season
Posted on 25 Aug 2011 by Kamil Kolodziejski.
CHICAGO – Starlin Castro’s body language explained it all. In the sixth inning during Sunday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Castro was seen with his back to home plate with no realization that James Russell was delivering a pitch (Video of the play). Whether it was a disinterest or simply forgetting that Russell was about to pitch, it was a symbolic moment. That moment show...

Tight games rule the Cubs season early on…
Posted on 11 Apr 2011 by Paul Jackson.
The Cubs lost their second consecutive divisional series this year as the Brewers took two of three from Chicago in Milwaukee. It seems the Cubs are happy continuing nibbling in the early going this season as eight of the nine games so far have been decided by 3 runs or fewer. Jeff Baker had a solid night at the plate in Game 1, collecting four hits and joining Geovany Soto in belting a 2-run h...

So far, off to a bad start
Posted on 4 Apr 2011 by Paul Jackson.
Opening weekend didn’t go as planned for the Cubs. One would think starting the season facing the Pirates and the Diamondbacks would be beneficial to your team’s chances of starting off on the right foot. Think again. The Cubs let a good start slip away in Game 1 of the series. Up 2-0 in the top of the 5th, Ryan Doumit led off the inning with a Single for the Pirates. After a ground out by ...

Playyyyyyy Balllllllllll!

It is MLB Opening Day and I’m enjoying the Yankees and Tigers on ESPN as I write. It’s one day before Chicago Cubs opening day at Wrigley against the Pirates. As I prepare to watch this season, Mike Quade has had to make some final tweaks to the roster in preparation to play and has shown a willingness to let the youth step in and take over. Blake Dewitt failed to show up this Spring, despi...

Quality: A Great Place to Start
Posted on 22 Mar 2011 by Paul Jackson.
As the Cubs started the Spring slate a little over a month ago one of the questions that needed to be answered was in the pitching rotation. With a little over a week left before Opening Day, Mike Quade has a tough choice to make. I liken this choice to the choices those in Washington D.C. have to make. Most of those choices affect a lot of people, if not all. These choices will make some peopl...

Manuel Without Contract Extension
Posted on 14 Jan 2011 by Christopher Rowe.
One month until pitchers and catchers gather once more on the Elysian fields of dreams at the Carpenter Complex. It's almost that time again when rawhide, horsehide and man-hide emerge from the winter slumber to stretch on the warm, dewy baseball diamonds of Florida and Arizona. Grapefruit League and Cactus League games are slated for March. Free agents are still negotiating contracts while...

Phillies Manage to hire Hall of Famer Sandberg!
Posted on 15 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
The Phillies have hired Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg to manage their Triple A Lehigh Valley club, the team announced Monday morning. Speculation has swirled for the past week as former Iowa Cubs manager and former Cubs Hall of Fame player Ryne Sandberg was passed over to succeed Lou Pinella as Chicago Cubs manager. Mike Quade got that job in a recent announcement despite Sandberg managing at all...

Phillies Coaching Carousel Spins Sandberg, Bowa or Samuel
Posted on 10 Nov 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
Ryne Sandberg played just 13 games for the Phillies before they traded him to the Chicago Cubs in 1982. At the time it was not such a big deal but in time it became one of the more infamously lopsided trades in franchise history. Sandberg was part of a two-for-one deal sending both veteran Phils shortstop Larry Bowa and Sandberg – a prospect to Chicago in exchange for shortstop Ivan DeJes...
