Pittsburgh’s Kryptonite for RG3 – Dick Lebeau and a Wet Football?
Posted on 30 Oct 2012 by Rob Stroup.
The Pittsburgh Steelers scored at will in the first half to run out to a lead they would not relinquish against the Washington Redskins. Pittsburgh notched an important 27-12 victory to raise its record to 4-3, within one game of AFC North division leader Baltimore Ravens. It was an increasingly soggy day as a light misty rain fell throughout the game. This may have had an effect on Washingt...

Steelers Game-by-Game Predictions
Posted on 5 Sep 2012 by Rob Stroup.
Now that the NFL season is 24 hours away, here is my fearless game-by-game forecast for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Week 1 Sunday, September 9 at Denver 8:20 PM Ryan Mundy is an adequate replacement for Ryan Clark for one game, but the new sheriff (Peyton Manning) in town takes advantage of the Steelers’ early season injuries and Mike Wallace’s unfamiliarity with the offense. Denver 24, Pittsb...

Steelers Preseason Recap
Posted on 1 Sep 2012 by Rob Stroup.
Another preseason game, another devastating injury. Sean Spence, a rookie middle linebacker who was drafted in the third round, left the game in the third quarter with what coach Mike Tomlin deemed a “significant” left knee injury, including multiple ligament tears. Let's recap our first four 2012 draft picks: David DeCastro (RG) – dislocated kneecap, MCL surgery, and torn...

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Notes
Posted on 1 Aug 2012 by Rob Stroup.
As we get ready for the 2012-2013 season, I'll pass along to you brief news and notes from Latrobe. Due to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement rules, the first three days of training camp amounted to walkthroughs because the team has a limited number of padded practices. Then, they had the day off Monday. Receivers' routes were more like jogging without the jog. It is considerably les...

Posted on 24 Jul 2012 by Rob Stroup.
One day before training camp is to begin, the Pittsburgh Steelers have extended head coach Mike Tomlin's contract for an additional three years through the end of the 2016 season. His tenure began after Bill Cowher resigned in 2007. Financial terms of the contract are not yet disclosed. This is Coach Tomlin's third contract. Mike Tomlin will roam Heinz Field sidelines for five more years....

Week 1: Ravens vs. Steelers–Bring it on
Posted on 9 Sep 2011 by Frank Sullivan.
The Ravens-Steelers rivalry might be the best rivalry in all of football. It’s definitely the hardest hitting most hate filled rivalry in the NFL. These teams play in the same division, that’s twice a year. On top of that they seem to always meet in the playoffs where the high stakes add something special to the match up. Simply put: these guys don’t like one another. Five things to...

Steelers: Is Rashard Mendenhall Wrong?
Posted on 3 May 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
On Sunday night, around 11:30 p.m. eastern time, President Barack Obama announced that 25 elite Navy Seals killed Osama bin Laden in a mansion in Abbottabad in north-west Pakistan, nearly 10 years after bin Laden organized the attack on the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and whatever was the target of Flight 93, and which ultimately led to the War on Terror. It instantly gave America...

Pitt: Ladies and Gentlemen, Todd Graham
Posted on 13 Jan 2011 by Michael Waterloo.
It seems as if every week for the past month I have been writing about the Pitt Panthers and their search for a new Coach, the candidates for the job, and the embarrassment that the school has faced during this time. There is no way that after all that transpired that Pitt could come out a winner could they? As a matter of fact, yes; yes they can, and yes they did. On Tuesday afternoon, A...

Who’s Got Big Ben’s Back?
Posted on 24 Nov 2010 by Steven Keys.
Come seasons end, Ben Roethlisberger should have a sit-down with his agent and (contract permitting) consider other opportunities around the League where his skills & grit would be better appreciated. Last Sunday when Oakland Raiders’ DE Richard Seymour sent the Steelers' QB tumbling to the turf with a sucker-punch Ben’s teammates had little reaction. Even though Seymour has yet to make...

Playoffs on the Line at Heinz
Posted on 25 Dec 2009 by Lea Anderson.
With the playoffs looming in the not so distance future, the Ravens leave the Nest to visit their most hated rivals in Pittsburgh. Both teams have an opportunity to make the playoffs, with the Ravens controlling their own destiny and the Steelers needing the government equivalent of a TARP bailout. Although the Steelers have struggled losing five of their last six games, a rivalry is a cure t...
