Patriots Headlines
Posted on 4 Mar 2011 by David Reid.
Not a whole lot has happened over the past week and we are still a little ways away to start talking about the draft. So I have got a little news about the CBA and of course some about the Patriots. Biggest news in the NFL is still the Collective Bargaining Agreement and whether or not the players and owners are going to come to a new agreement. As of today the only thing that has been agreed u...

Tempered Expectation
Posted on 4 Mar 2011 by Jeff Burke.
When I first heard the news that the Chargers were getting Bob Sanders, my thoughts instantly were of a dynamic force in the Chargers secondary of Eric Weddle and Sanders dominating the opposition. While that is more than a possibility, and will be the case if everything continues to line up, now being 24 hours removed from the news I have come back to earth a bit. The news first is that the ...

Hawks coming back from the West Coast (and so am I)
Posted on 28 Feb 2011 by John Morgo.
Atlanta just wrapped up its' marathon road trip with a 100-90 loss to Denver. I just finished unpacking after getting in from Las Vegas a few hours ago. I'm tired, and jet lagged, but I'll try to give you the news. First off, Atlanta went 3-4 on the trip, but they got wins in places you'd expect: Detroit, Portland, and Golden State. But the big question is the trade. How is Kirk Hinrich replaci...

Rangers Pass On Richards; Lose Biron for the Season
Posted on 28 Feb 2011 by Margaret DeJesus.
There's good news and bad news. Let's go with the bad news first. The Rangers have a lot of breaks, and not the kind they can catch. Just as the trade deadline hoopla was winding down this afternoon, Glen Sather announced that his team's backup netminder — arguably the best and most reliable they've had in years — Martin Biron would be out for the season. Biron broke his collarbone ...

Neuvirth stellar in defensive gem
Posted on 21 Feb 2011 by Dennis Patchett.
Watching the Washington Capitals transition to a defensive system has been frustrating this year. It hasn't translated to as many wins, during the close games, as coach Bruce Boudreau would have hoped – until, the last two games. The Caps have beaten the Buffalo Sabres (2-1) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (1-0) in two of their best defensive games of the year. The best part? Both gam...

Great Green and White Hope
Posted on 11 Feb 2011 by Christopher Rowe.
The Eagles have agreed to contract terms with Canadian Football League export defensive end Phillip Hunt. Hopefully Hunt proves as effective as Cameron Wake (Dolphins signed Wake out of the CFL after a sack binge north of the border). Hunt led the CFL with 16 sacks for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2010. That's the good news. Also good news is that Hunt is only 25 years old and is happy to ret...

Jim Bowden Officially Adds Another Enemy: Me
Posted on 25 Jan 2011 by Sven Jenkins.
OK, so I jumped the gun with my first post on PSB. I had Vlad Guerrero in an O’s cap Saturday morning. Now it’s Tuesday, the deal isn’t done, and it’s hard to figure out anything having to do with Guerrero. I should have known. I based my piece on information that came from Jim Bowden. The article I referenced had been written by Brittany Ghiroli on MLB.com (the original piece has a...

2010 A VIKING ODYSSEY; CLOSING THE BOOK
Posted on 16 Jan 2011 by Sean Eckhardt.
The good news for Minnesota Viking fans is that the Vikes had a first round bye in the playoffs last weekend. The bad news is that Minnesota has a second, third, and fourth round bye too. Not making the playoffs was not in the forecast for the Vikings this year, but it certainly was the reality. There are plenty of reasons the Vikings had such a difficult year and during the seco...

Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick should have been executed
Posted on 29 Dec 2010 by Christopher Rowe.
In the two days since Peter King first reported on Football Night in America that President Obama applauded the Eagles organization for giving Michael Vick a second chance, the story has moved from the sports world into cable news — where there have been some harsh comments for Vick and for Obama. Tucker Carlson again filled in for Sean Hannity on FoxNews' Hannity tonight, and couldn’t r...

Panthers: Michael Haywood….Who???
Posted on 18 Dec 2010 by Michael Waterloo.
When the University of Pittsburgh held their news conference announcing that Miami of Ohio Coach Michael Haywood would be their new coach, the reaction was pretty much the same: “Michael who?” Most people, actually 99% of Pittsburgh fans had no idea who this man was and instantly the negative comments came out about not being able to sign the big Coach, when in actuality the only ...

Spurs Basketball
Posted on 18 Nov 2010 by Jon Lopez.
Granted, the Bulls didn't have Carlos Boozer but D'rose gave the Spurs all they could handle. TP9 had a really good game despite the news of his divorce coming out before the game. The Bulls jumped out to an early lead, up to 15 points. The Spurs hung in and closed the gap a little by half time. The first half looked like a replay of the OKC game. Once again, the defense clamped down in the thi...
