Devils Have a Big Showing on Scott Niedermayer Night
Posted on 17 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
On Scott Niedermayer the Devils confirmed the suspicion that they're hot. The Devils retired the jersey of long time Defenseman Scott Niedermayer and with the Devils playing well there was a positive atmosphere at Prudential Center. But going into the game there was a little concern that Richard Bachman was playing so well he may stymie the Devils and ruin the night. This was not the case. Alth...

Devils Sweep in Florida Trip
Posted on 14 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils were able to earn four points in their two games against Florida and Tampa Bay. The Devils strong offense and some weak goaltending by Dwayne Roloson led to a 5-4 win in Tampa. Adam Henrique and Zach Parise each had a goal and two assists while Kovalchuk had a goal as well. Johan Hedberg and the Defense weren't particularly strong but they were able to hold out for a 5-4 win although...

Devils Rally to Top Sens
Posted on 9 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils rallied so did the senators but New Jersey escaped with two points. The first period was totally flat and the Devils finished it down 2-0 from goals by surprising leading goal scorer in the NHL, Milan Michalek, and Nick Foligno. This caused Deboer to start Hedberg in the second period; as always no idea if Brodeur was replaced because of poor play or just to try and generate a spark....

Devils Drop 4th Straight
Posted on 4 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils lost a frustrating game again last night after playing a solid enough game to secure a win. The Jets went up just a minute into the game on a beautiful deflection by Evander Kane off of a Dustin Byfuglien shot. The Devils didn't do their usual thing of letting up another two or three. Instead they responded and played a very solid first getting one themselves by Adam Henrique on a gr...

Devils Build in Loss
Posted on 3 Dec 2011 by Jordan DiRisio.
The Devils took it to the Wild after the first ten minutes of last night's game. But that wasn't enough. When Zach Parise scored on a beautiful deflection just three minutes into the game it seemed like last night would be a great night. Five minutes later down 3-1 it seemed like it would be a disastrous game. Both initial reactions were wrong. Brodeur was chased from the game allowing three go...

Devils Send Lemaire Out a Winner
Posted on 11 Apr 2011 by Matt Pellicane.
Although the Devils were unable to spoil the season of their rivals, the New York Rangers, they did send their coach out in style with a 3-2 win over the playoff-bound Boston Bruins in the last game of the season on Sunday afternoon. Rookie Alexander Urbom, who had been called up from Albany on Sunday, scored his first NHL goal on a wrap-around and it turned out to be the game-winner. Th...

Elias’ Hat Trick Keeps Devils Hopes Alive
Posted on 2 Apr 2011 by Matt Pellicane.
The New Jersey Devils are certainly doing their part to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. Three goals from Patrik Elias and 34 saves by Johan Hedberg propelled the Devils past the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night at the Prudential Center. Elias' hat trick could not have come at a better time, as the Devils must win all of their remaining games and hope that...

Relentless Devils Clip Thrashers In Regulation
Posted on 15 Mar 2011 by Matt Pellicane.
It was not a typical start to the game for the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. They did something they had not done for the past 16 games – they allowed a goal in the first period. In fact, they allowed two goals to the visiting Thrashers in the first period. However, the Devils chipped away at the early two-goal deficit and came back to beat the Thrashers 4-2 on Tuesday night. ...

Trade Rumors: Names and Excuses
Posted on 23 Feb 2011 by Eric Cooney.
It's hard to argue with TSN's Bob McKenzie that this trade deadline is the most active it's been in years. Already, big name players like Mike Fisher, Craig Anderson, Tomas Kaberle, Erik Johnson, and James Neal have moved to new teams. Of course, with big names moving around and the Kings not involved, Lombardi has received criticism for his lack of activity. Lombardi has been accused of ...

Devils Continue Red-Hot Run With Seventh Straight Win
Posted on 20 Feb 2011 by Matt Pellicane.
The New Jersey Devils are scorching right now as they continue their quest to beat the odds and reach the playoffs after a dismal first half of the season. Last night the Devils beat the Carolina Hurricanes for the third time in 12 days, jumping out to an early lead in the first period without looking back en route to a 4-1 victory. The Hurricanes are certainly going to be looking back in t...

Canes Suffer Frustrating 3-2 Loss to Devils
Posted on 17 Feb 2011 by Brad Kurtzberg.
The Carolina Hurricanes suffered a frustrating 3-2 setback at the hands of the New Jersey Devils Wednesday night that made their hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference even more tentative. Early on, New Jersey's famed neutral zone trap bottled up the Canes attack, holding Carolina to just 11 shots on goal and a handful of quality scoring chances during the first 4...

Playground Pick’em
Posted on 28 Jan 2011 by Jason Wagensveld.
Tonight the Captains of the two All-Star Teams, Eric Staal and Nicklas Lidstrom, will pick their players for their team similar to the way we used to pick them at recess in elementary school. This has added a new sense of excitement and anticipation surrounding the All-Star Weekend. The Blue Jackets are represented by none other than Rick Nash. I think Nash will be picked by Staal early i...
